If you have seen any Motionless In White interviews or talked to them at their shows at their VIP stuff, it's clear the front man, Chris, absolutely hates their older stuff. He really isn't big on looking backward at his previous works. Just like Linkin Park, other bands have "their moment" when their music and fandom is at it's peak and it typically comes after their "best" album. When you write your "9th symphony" it's really hard to follow it and I get it can be extremely irritating for possibly your most impactful and what's considered your "best" work to be the bar you always have to reach to satisfy fans. It's why so many bands eventually just change their style to attract new fans because it's easier than always trying to please old fans.
On a side note, Chris of MIW has pretty much abandoned all of the work they did pre-2010. Their original album and songs from "The Whorror" are something they absolutely hate even hearing mentioned because he views is as some of the worst music but honestly I believe it's some of their best in some ways. I'm sure most bands experience the same thing and LP is no exception. People who love the style, energy and lyrics of older stuff tend to cling to it.

Crawlin is more the type of song Chester wanted to keep making. But they flipped it with melodic hooks instead of verses and just rapped the verses leaving the metal parts for only bridges.
One step closer is the one he hated and concerts would always end with with that one. He liked 'in the end' but he wanted to promote the heavier songs of their albuns.
