You can replace a lot of elements about a band to varying degrees of success, but the vocalist is the hardest. For a huge number of bands, the vocals are how most people even tell them apart. I think the band still could have been great without Serj, but it definitely wouldn't have been the same.

Might as well make a whole new band and band name at that point. Every member of the band is integral
