- Nothing More frontman Jonny Hawkins was almost canceled last year after a domestic incident with his ex-girlfriend and talks about it publicly for the first time on the show. He also gives me the details about how the Scorpion Tail actually works, that giant OSHA violation of a contraption the band uses on stage. I get the lowdown on their new album "Carnal," the collab with I Prevail and get into a lot of fitness and health talk for all the fellow avocados out there.

One of my old bands played one of those shit gigs with Nothing More in the middle of nowhere Arkansas, on a flat bed trailer, in the middle of a muddy rodeo arena. Even then, it was obvious these guys were going to do something big. They all basically lived in a bus/van/RV thing. They took every single show offered to them it seemed. They have come a long way from wearing a suit of pans and being a human drum set. So happy for these guys.
And people look at me like I'm crazy when I say time is not something you have, it's something you take.

Jonny is such a humble, intelligent, sweet man. I saw Nothing More earlier this year and could see the emotions during IIDH, I have a little clip from that gig I keep on rewatching and can feel the pain behind the words, but I'm glad everything that came out of this is ultimately healing for him and that it brings the whole band more strength. When you're a victim and a public figure, let alone a man, that simply wants the true picture out there and not misinformation on what was a toxic chunk of your life you are forced to expose to the world... Dude, I'm so glad people close to both parties came forward and supported him in the truth of what really happened throughout the years. I'm so, so happy others didn't blindly follow the headlines and put a lifetime of hard work Jonny's been pouring out of his heart to waste, and that they saw what people are capable of despite the masks they wear. Nobody is perfect, but to actively aim to ruin someone's life after you'd been abusing it in private for so long already takes a whole other level of crazy to do and feel okay with. I can't wait for the new album, and I can't wait to see NM appreciated and recognised, and happy again. IIDH will soon go on my arm as a tattoo, it means so much to me. And well, this interview was really, truly fantastic!

Saw these guys live with Ghost a couple years ago and what an awesome stage presence they were. One of my favorite bands I’ve seen perform. It was an actual performance.

Dang I thought those were real tatts lol thats cool. Octane has really bounced up big time since all the fm good rock stations sold out to pop or country. Octane has always been awesome but like in mid 2ks it was sort of just same few songs over and over when i had xm. Since i got octane recently again, i dont listen to anything anymore not even spotify or pandora lol

Everytime I stepped in shit in life, it was because of a woman Johnny.
So did he run his ex-girlfriend over or not???
her makeup spilled under the car during an argument (she hit him and then either got out the vehicle or he made her get out, can't remember which one), he didn't know or see that she reached to pick it up - it was in front of the back wheel iirc - and started driving, ultimately driving over her arm i believe. it's all written and detailed on his ig post together with her police/court statement (can't remember what it was), there's a lot of information about it all.
