    The Kobra 2 Max uses a hacked klipper firmware, and it's closed. They won't release the source, which, besides being unethical, it means no community improvements. DONT BUY THIS PRINTER.

      @@dagurorarinsson2827 To start with, I'd avoid buying a large bed printer as your first printer. You're going to run into a lot more challenges with the bed (warping). With that said, what a closed firmware means high level....you are limited in community improvements, upgrades, updated firmware's beyond the companies supported life of the printer etc.

    Ive got the kobra pro, its very small but every issue ive had with it has been attributed to it being my first real printer. I had to creality ender 3s which where more or less broken out of the box, ive had my kobra pro for about 6 months and it has so far been the best experience ive had with the hobby. I do definitly plan on getting the max as soon as im able to afford it to increase work flow.

    I personally own the Anycubic Kobra 2 after owning the Easythreed K2 Plus and I have to say it has been so good to me. All the features work great and the slicer is built off of Prusa Slicer so you can just use the Prusa slicer with the .ini file that they give you. Overall great value for the price and less messing around needed when compared to the Creality Ender counterparts (which my family members use).

      Love hearing this, (we got an EasyThreed x1 to see how good it was for $70 and were impressed).. the best upgrade option at the time was an Ender really but the Kobra 2 series looks insane for the price now, especially if the Neo and Pro perform like the Max did for us!

    Seems fairly solid overall for a large printer at that price. I'd definitely just make my own printer profile for another slicer. Ditching the spool holder would have been one of my first moves too. Also seems like that cable and reverse Bowden might cause some issues. Needs one of those retracting tethers or something. Good review! Very entertaining. Nice fidget... Thing.

  • @YakavosArdanze
    @YakavosArdanze Před 4 měsíci +2

    I print on the kobra 2 plus and bambu lab p1s. The two negatives you mentioned are easily workable. When loading filament, make sure the hot end is positioned all the way to the left and bottom of the bed. The slicer itself is fine and covers advanced needs. For anything beyond, just use prusa slicer.
    Here are my two negatives:
    1. The G4 pause command does not working on anycubic. This has meant my timelapses often don't come out smoothly.
    2. You can't upgrade to a bimetal heat break (atleast easily). The aftermarket bimetal heat break does not have a recessed thread, meaning you will have filament oozing out the top of the heating block, unless you manually mill the heat break, which in my opinion that level of effort isn't warranted.

    • @playconveyor
      @playconveyor  Před 4 měsíci +1

      Agree, definitely workable and it’s a testament to AnyCubic that they were our only real issues. They are more from a place of frustration that the level of engineering it takes to make such a fabulous machine, yet sometimes the smallest factors get overlooked.. at least the filament holder wasn’t on the back I suppose 😅
      It sounds like you like to do some mods on your printers.. have you upgraded the P1S at all?

      @YakavosArdanze Před 4 měsíci +1

Hoping to print some drone parts for my engineering channel (YT: Engineering Dads) with CF reinforced filament. I have an anycubic kobra 2 pro and to be honest its great it rarely fails and when it does it is because of me doing stupid stuff or forgetting to do stuff for it and the only times when the machine itself failed was because of the filament runout sensor but n the pro version you can turn that off in the settings menu so now it runs perfectly the only bad thing about the anycubic kobra series that i would like to point out is how loud they are they are EXTREMELY LOUD but other than that i would recommend these they aren't to expensive as far as 3d printers go and it works great.

    I received a kobra 2 max for Christmas from my wide and I laughed, I talked from time to time about wanting a 3d printer but never got around to it.
    I love this thing, I've must have logged 2000 hours since I started and the worst thing I've had to deal with was a clogged nozzle and any other issues I had were user error 🙃.
    I love the k2m so much but it is very very big and some time I just need a small part. So I bought a kobra 2 pro 😁.
    Which i find hilarious because I know it is actually a fairly standard sized printed but it just looks so ridiculous beside my K2M.
    I do like how much quieter the pro is over its big brother.
    The K2M is so loud I had to build an enclosure, but that's fine I 3d printed that too.

    Also just put up a video for this printer. 100% agree for the size, speed, quality, features, volume - you can't beat this printer. I bought a Kobra max last year and liked it enough that when I saw they put out a newer model fixing all the complaints I had from the first and added more volume - this was an easy slam dunk. We're getting ready for a comic convention and if it wasn't for the speed and size we'd be under prepared. I was underwhelmed with Anycubic's SLA printers - but their FDM printers - dare I say - beats out creality

Honestly, if i didn't accidently short the heating element on the Mega X, i would still be using it. Every time i turn it on, the hotend immediately starts heating and wont stop... I bought Kobra 2 max because i have been using the Anycubic Chiron for many years and i like to print PETG.
    Chiron doesn't handle petg very well but with Kobra 2 max i can print at insane speeds the petg. Like 230mm/s versus the chiron that was printing at 30mm/s . Above that i get very steingy and not even prints.
    Also has to say that with high speed comes high vibrations so my whole table feels like a level 8 earthquake.
    Overall i really like my kobra 2 max because if i have to print pieces that i must assemble after, i just sit them all together and print them in 1 session instead of having to wait to finish 1 piece and start another. So the project takes just 1 day instead of e or 4 days to be finished.

This is the only printer so far that its actually a struggle to justify changing to klipper (not just cause its kinda a pain with a soldering mod) due to having 0 issues with it at all even printing CF-PETG with a microswiss volcano nozzle. Just works so well out of the box that the only real reason id move it to klipper is for the remote access and KAMP, which i have had no issues with the auto level yet so thats kinda a "take it or leave it"

    I think the proprietary slicers are pointless money wasters for these companies. Most are just trashy reskins of previously existing slicers. Why put in the R&D funding for something that is both unnecessary AND half-baked?

      I agree with this, the only ones I’ve come across that are decent are basic carbon copies of the original, like Bambu (Orca) or Qidi (Prusa)

      No they have announced that there next printer will be a top end Printer so probably an X2 or something.
      It was due in 2024 but with the recall of the A1 I suspect they will push it back.
      But it would not surprise me if they bring out an A1Max eventually.

    I have a Kobra 2 max and I absolutely hate the thing. It's unreliable, loud and the print results are mediocre at best.
    I had to make upgrades and take a lot of time calibrating to get halfway decent results.
    Even after spending months now, none of my results look even close to what you are presenting here.
    No idea if I keep it or switch to an A1 as soon as those become available again.

      That’s frustrating… we’ve had a couple of printers in the past that everyone raved about and we just must have got bad ones! Hope you manage to get it sorted to some decent level eventually 🤞

    Sorry, I looked into this machine and that goodness I did. Proprietary hotend nozzle, and the industries most crappy firmware...big no go for me, The original Kobra Maz was "OK" but they took everything tolerable and removed it for the max 2, a HUGE misstep anycubic. Why the hell deliver a massive printer with a 0.4 nozzle and NO WAY TO REPLACE IT WITH A 0.6 or 0.8 ???? Dumb as it get IMHO The WIFI is nothing but a way yo try and infect your phone with their useless software (and cant be used any other way.) The printer WILL NOT connect to other slicers, and is locked down. Stupid Stupid....look for these crippled machines to be on clearance for $300 within six months.

      The studio is usually pretty sealed up with no ventilation to keep the moisture out and the printers are on constantly so the fumes really aren’t good! Although we try to wear one whenever we are in there…
