- I was initially planning to make a Top ten list of best strikers in KOF 2000, but then I decided to do it the long way and talk about every single one of these strikers. Explaining a bit of lore behind them, who they are, what games they came from and how their attacks work.

The fact that sometimes they just made new Sprites for characters that you would see for about a few seconds just shows the amount of dedication and care these games have
your correct brother kof 98 also was a masterpiece playing alternat versions of the characters with different moves
SNK knew they were going to be bankrupt anyway, so they decided to go out with a bang.
For some reason, right after escaping bankruptcy, _THEY GONE AWOL_ and pushed the Neo geo system to its limit with SVC: Chaos (it has a full manga), 03, 02 UM, XI, Neo Geo Coliseum and then XII-XIII in the span of 7 years....

I would be down for a smaller studio to do a game where Change and Choi are dreaming and the whole game is their dream where they are Smart Change and Cool Choi. Sort of like how the whole KOF 98 Dream Match tournament was just Shingo's dream.

For me the shingo. Very practical and fun striker.
"Smart Chang" and "Cool Choi" had me dying.
It was a clever way for them to include more characters or even show us some of the earlier concept for characters or alternatives without having to make them full characters, and the touch of dead characters lore-wise just disappear instead of leaving the screen by jumping as well.
Fun fact : When Syo attacks he said "This fist of mine is burning red !!" possibly a nod to G Gundam's Domon Kasshu, considering G Gundam aired in Japan in year 1994 the year that the first KOF game came out he might have some influence.
In the context of dead characters disappearing instead of leaving the screen normally, it's interesting how Rugal is an exception from this rule. He's dead, but leaves the screen via jumping.
So this is the origin of all of those Mugen characters…

Choi's alternative version is called Cool Choi, Cool is read like "Kuru" in Japanese, so the reference is even bigger, as he not only readjusts his glasses in the same way as captain Kuro (from One Piece) but also has the "same" name.
I totally missed the "cool" bit. That's so neat!

@@rafikhankhadem6657 Freddy Krueger is Choi's original inspiration, that's why he has the striped shirt. So I think that he always will reference to Krueger somehow, but in this case the glasses' reajusment was a clear reference to Kuro.
Kuru also kind of sounds like Kruger, the straw hat, the striped shirt plus the iconic bladed gloves... I mean you can't get more closer with the Freddy references or you'd be steping into copyright territory lol...
Fio(lina) Germi & Lili Kane appears in the Maximum Impact series as unlockable characters and Gai Tendo appears in KoF 11 as an unlockable character on the PS2 version. This was a pretty entertaining video.

@@ShoryuGame As for why Chris was a striker for Whip, I think it suits her, as Chris looks innocent behind his wicked demeanor while Whip was also hiding her intentions from her own teammates. Plus both of their attacks are fast, multi hit, colored blue, and can cover the screen fast.

Probably my favourite thing about KOF 2000. This is why this is my favourite striker system.

@@ShoryuGame In KOF sky stage, when battling Rugal with Kula, Rugal mentions being interested with NESTS technology and was in contact. Why not give the spin-off a try? There are almost no English footage of Sky Stage play throughs and none for 2 players.
About that alternative K’ theory, Shoryugaming, could it be possible it’s kinda like Kula where his hair changes when he uses his powers? Strikers definitely looks like a one of a kind mechanic in KOF and the fact SNK are willing to use some of their more obscure characters or designs, shows how much they appreciate their history, which is awesome. I didn’t even know the Psycho Soldier team have a panda. Well done with the video!
Well genetic engineering can sometimes cause some form of mutation, alteration or side effect on the test subjects. As for K' and Kula's its their hair color changing.
It's stupid and boogus actually since K's white hair was the same when he was a kid before being abducted by NESTS.

My favorite striker in 2000 is Chizuru. I was so happy to see her.
That dystopian future beat’em up with Chang and Choi as our beloved heroes is just too perfect
One thing to note, you can actually use Joe as a striker to hit knocked down opponents, and this has the potential to create infinites. Try putting it as striker for Clark, then summon Joe after hitting your opponent down on the ground from a backbreaker or any command grab.

FUN FACTS! Another Benimaru first appears in KOF Kyo Story psx japan only. I think in chapter 4 when Kyo going to find Benimaru and invited him from the KOF 97. In the street we can find Another Benimaru playing guitar.
I never knew that the ps2 version kof 2000 has this many stages from from every snk game.
@Is Isis I'm not sure about the dreamcast, but in the ps2 version the stages only appears in training mode with the right strickers , the stages don't appear in single player mode.

I think the *Items* in SNK Heroines feel like the spiritual successor of the Stryker System.
I like the Items and how these are random to not being broken.
I especially like the *SP Item*
This item results in a special action based on your *Supporter character* Every character has a different action or effect.
Examples,
Kula's SP Item can freeze the opponent.
Zarina's SP Item can heal.
Yuri's SP Item give you a boost of power for a brief time.
Mui Mui's SP Item give you a shield who can damage the oponent in contact.
Etc.
The gameplay of SNK Heroines was great.
It is a shame the game is underrated

Getting silver hair and tan skin as a result of mutations is a common trope in anime. That's why I believe the K' theory.
17:42 Yeah, I've heard about the "G-Mantle" who was once SNK's Mascot from the Neo-Geo Console Era, it's true that he Faded away into Obscurity (although he was a Dark Silhouette in SNK Heroines) when Terry Bogard is now the Mario and Sonic level of SNK's Company,
But I do love the Fact that "G-Mantle" is based on *"V"* who was the Main Character of *"V for Vendetta."*
(The Graphic Novel for "V for Vendetta" published by DC Comics that started in 1982, while the Film Adaptation with the same Name came in 2005)

He is also a cameo in one of the stages of vanilla KOF 2002
Also, he is based on Han Baedal, the main protagonist of Fight Fever, a 1994 arcade game for the NEO GEO, made by a korean company called VICCOM
Speaking of Fight Fever, there is a character called Kim Hoon.
Him, Jhun Hoon (KOF) and Jae Hoon (Garou MOW)'s names are based on Kim Jae Hoon, the son of the real Kim Kaphwan (VICCOM's founder)
The real Kim Kaphwan is the reason why we got the taekwondo fighter from Fatal Fury 2
VICCOM and the original SNK had a close relationship.
Fun fact
In the "ALL ABOUT THE-KING-OF-FIGHTERS'94" section of the Korean Broadcasting Corporation's "KOF 95 Predictions," a team composed by Kim Hoon, Han Baedal, and Master Taekuk (characters from Fight Fever) were nominated as "Team Kim'95," but of course it didn't happen.

2000 is my favorite because of the many MANY strikers, I remember staying up late trying to come up with different mux-ups , but I still could never defeat my older brother

To be honest, I prefer the Stryker System in KOF 2001 because it is more useful in my opinion.
Choosing from 1 to 3 strykers was a great idea and you can call 3 of them at the same time allowing for great combos.
It is the definition of high risk high reward.
Xiangfei, Angel, Mai, Seth, Ralf are my favorites strykers in 2001
Although I have to admit it was a nice detail putting characters from various SNK media as strykers in KOF 2000

In the comic series King of fighters 2001 it's stated that Chang and Choi were known as cool guys in the underworld. One as a butcher by day and hitman by night (Choi) and the other as a cunning professional thief (Chang). And their drawing is almost identical as their sprite XD
It’s been confirmed that Kaede is in fact the ancestor of the Sakazaki clan. This was YEARS ago and ill try to find it

As far as I remember it, Joe is probably the most OP (and the most used) striker. He is one of the only that can hit opponents while still in the ground, which can easily led up to chain link combos/infinites.
Also, Another Iori was a very popular striker in my region.

This is something I've always looked up for and never found such a comprehensive guide. I remember by the time 2000 was released everyone in the arcade I used to go would know the code for Another Iori, the most requested striker. Great job!

I think the reason people would think k’ hair colour change is from kyo’s dna is because kula’s hair colour changed whenever she uses her ice powers and because k’ fire is always on his hair is always white

This is a GREAT video!! I wasn't expecting such a cool deep dive and had no idea where a lot of these were from. Clearly Neo and Geo need to be in KOF15 now.
I'm maybe wrong about this since it's been a long time ago, but I think the reason why Rugal is the alternate striker for Kula is IIRC in the KOF comics (KOF 2002 arc), to counter Kyo's & Iori's flame power, Rugal kidnapped Kula and absorbed her ice power

the x-shaped scar on his forehead was given to him by terry and andy's adopted father, jeff bogard and mai's grandfather, hanzo shiranui.
since terry and andy were preoccupied with the american sports team, the next best person was probably mai.

Talvez la SNK original no queria poner a Terry en la 2000 pero sorprendernos en el ending de esa entrega de que el habia fingido su muerte todo este tiempo (algo similar al final original de la 2000 donde Mary encuentra a Terry) y que se habia ido de parrandas, digo investigar sobre NESTS (lol) porque recuerdo que en el final del KOF99 Terry solo se quedo parado como que hubiera planeado algo.

Couldn't see any comments mention this but at @20:57 I noticed Bao's health go up after Kensou ate his food. Maybe that was part of the striker ability but I'm not positive.
I had a blast watching this and it brings me back! 2k will forever be special to me and I see it as a masterpiece. The art, music (AST versions) and overall presentation give this game such a great vibe. It's the peak of that SNK outstanding quality from back in the day.

I believe Krauser is Mai's striker because both debuted in Fatal Fury 2, and Rugal is Kula's striker because Kula was a boss character of sorts in 2000.
quiz daisousasen was one of the greatest childhood games i ever played.
the countdown that they do is from their game where you are asked a question and the opponent holds his hand up counting down from 5 and if dont answer after the countdown you lose a health

You forgot to mention many strikers that changes their striker attack depending on the range they are to the enemy when they're summoned, for example saisyu does a uppercut if he's close to the enemy, same applies to K' he does crowbite when he's close to the enemy.
I've never been all that into KoF and whatnot, but goddamn I love all the fan service SNK put into their game. (Especially the Metal Slug cameos)
Also, I really appreciate that you made subtitles for this video, especially one that's this long

If Terry had died, Andy most likely would have been the leader of the Fatal Fury Team in KOF 2000, with Joe, Mai and Blue Mary as the teammates.
The Women Team would have been composed by Yuri, Kasumi, Hinako and Xiangfei that year.
