Basically the whole KoF 2003 was a wtf moment. Seeing Chizuru and her twin, fighting an evil Kyo reflection, fighting Rugal's son, Ash stealing people's powers.

Each saga has its own story and events so I m not surprised , by the way I know the whole story of KOF from 1800 years ago Yasanaki and Kusanagi vs Orochi and sealing him with their weapons magmata and Kusanagi Sword and Yata if Kagura before Yasanaki fall into Orochi s influence and make a pact with him to when Elizabeth finally found Ash in KOF 14 after Verse was defeated ! Kif 2003 was the beginning of Ash Saga, 14 was like a bit of all kofs somehow and the sure thing so many dead characters are gonna be back in kof15 they re working in it ! So 2003 was like any canon episode of KOFs !
So we aren’t gonna talk about why Shermie Slapped Brian across the face then went back to where she stood.

My favorite moment is Shingo trying to hold Iori Orochi in Kof XI to protect Kyo.

I thought Rugal's 98' stage was supposed to be something like a sequel to 94's Black Noah, which now has sinked and it's completely destroyed, thus the decoration and glitched TVs scattered around the place. And for the blood pond? Well I don't know, the cinematic kind of implies Rugal was reborn from that thing, so I guess it's there to tie the whole "Rugal is alive, oh shit" situation.

There's an oficial artwork that shows a man with long black hair dressed in red with a secretary next to a lot of Rugal clones that fits perfect with the scenes. But it was never explained.
It wasn't canon though cause the game was said only to be shingo's dream(check his lore) so he already died at 95

Only amateurs say that !! Hahaha sorry but expert is talking to you ! It s a CPU after all so it keeps doing the same thing thinking that it s gonna make him win and even cheat and use bugs and frames errors to win but I m used to that ! CPU can get so cheap using codes errors and bugs ex : T.Hawk from USF4 is so cheap and does impossible stuff human players can't do but as a human I figured out how to beat him easily it even pushed me to perfect the focus attack that I used bout 50% of it , now I focus counter and attack or evade ! It s a CPU after all ! Rugal used to beat me but I analyzed all his moves and bugs and the pattern of his moves and now he s so predicable to me! You can thank me later !
Of I forgot , CPU can do things not existing in the code of the game like canceling moves without even using the bar or the delay between moves is half comparing to human ex.... But s a CPU it repeat itself ! And use predictions and errors ! Some practice and you win !

Well, I didn't. That dude was so weird and cringy to me.
NGL, after all the shit he pulled, not to mention everything about him being designed to make you angry, I legit hated Ash for the whole saga. So when XIII ended and he erased himself from history I was just like "well thank FUCK for that, he's gone forever. Good."
I've mellowed a bit since then, but I still can't say I like Ash much, though lorewise it is cool he got reincarnated along with everyone else, since it means Saiki is probably back also and Those From The Past will probably show up again.

14:03 this reminds me when I used to play KOF '97 with my little brother, we had a rule to never choose Orochi Leona, Iori, or Orochi, because they would be too OP.

Well I never thought about WTF moments since I feel like the scenario presented in games were natural progression of events related to characters and lore. But one thing that got me nearly was Takuma deflecting zero cannon wave!

I never noticed Goenitz's body in Black Noah until you pointed it out in your most recent video, but it actually made the stage make a lot more sense when you did. The wires coming from his head explains the blood in the fountain that you can see running throughout the stage; My theory is that Rugal was siphoning the Orochi power from Goenitz's corpse and, on purpose or not, did so in a weird and ritualistic fashion that actually fits in with our understanding of Orochi and his worshippers. Hell, even it being underwater and all destroyed makes sense, it's after Rugal tried to take Kyo, Goro, and Benimaru down with him

The real Kyo can keep his head intact while the evil ones that look like him start shit. Ryu is his own conflict. Big difference. Iori's Orochi form is more close to the Evil Ryu comparison.
I think that shadowlo plan is to make clones in the plot of the anime movie
@@bananaemon2339 I get what you mean. But I mean in game. Ryu is a bit flat as a personality in game. Clones could introduce us to something wild. Even SNK was aware of this in a rather odd way. If you play crossover games where SNK is the creative runner with Capcom at the rival end; you'll find that the personality of certain Capcom characters (especially Ryu) seem a bit jazzed. Even his win quotes are laughable.
Another strange thing about Vice is that in some entries she chokes herself when she charges her meter

Bit of trivia, the Yagami Team is not only a reference to the band, the Human League ("Don't You Want Me Baby," "Fascination"), but they also represent the BDSM sub-culture.
Iori represents bondage and domination: wears bondage pants (popular in the punk scene in the late 70's - early 80's; can see Casey Affleck's character wearing them in "200 Cigarettes") and in some of his moves (Scum Gale, 9 Wine Goblets super holding the opponent in place, and others).
Mature represents sadism: she likes to inflict pain and suffering. In her original ('96) walk cycle, she'd run her hands over herself and her original taunt was an orgasmic moan, as her slash attacks leaving blood all over the place, while asking the opponent if what she's doing to them feels good.
Vice represents masochism: she enjoys pain. This shows through in her charging in Extra mode and some of her win poses (a notable one in '98 where she drops to her knees and yells [translation] "Hurry up and kill me!" and in XIV where she wants Choi to slash her with his claws).
SNK in the 90's was all about the referential deep cuts, particularly when it came to music. In addition to the aforementioned Human League reference in their appearance, Vice and Mature's moves are all names of Death / Black Metal bands.

Not gonna lie people sometimes forget why iori can use crimson flames because of his sacred shard definitely a surprise in 96 but also shows his sacred original flames will never be tainted by orochi’s curse.

K9999 all by himself is a wtf to me (in a good way), but Ash stealing Iori's flames had me legit worried. Given the history of the series and how lots of things do stick, that was cause for concern to me.
Vice being a cannibal is definitely the most shocking for me.

Another thing that makes Rugal stage in 98 more creepy and unsettling is the fact that there is Goenitz’s headless corpse lying on the far left of the stage

I think anytime i got those random interactions between certain fighters always were the best surprise. Like Ryuji laughing at all the new faces team.

1. But I say Iori and Leona's cutscene leading into their transformation is the most epic to me.
2.Mukai being absorbed by Saiki made me mad in a shocking way.
3.Chizuru being the villain and cloning her sister.
4. Kof 14's boss revivals at the end of the game.
5. Chizuru and Iori having their powers stolen.
6. Shion offing Magaki

Rugal's 98 stage is underwater because the stage is the same room as rugal's 94 stage but sunked after rugal's bomb exploded

My biggest WTF moment is how much of a prodigy I am at playing Andy
We all have that one character in KOF we're good at,the one we understand how his moveset works at a deeper level, the one we leave for last in our team orders, and usually the one that we use to beat the bosses and while that character for me is Ralf who in itself is a WTF moment because I've honestly never picked Ralf in these last 5-6 years I've spent playing KOF, for some god forsaken reason when the game pushed Andy onto me for taking too long in choosing characters I kicked all sorts of ass, and see the thing is if Ralf is a character I never really paid much attention to, Andy is a character that I care so little about that I sometimes forget he exists and yet for some reason when I picked him I was just good at him, no rhyme or reason I just knew how to play him
I should probably use him more in my teams XD

I remember back in the KOF 97 arcades, if your opponent chose Orochi Iori, YOU choose Orochi Iori. It would be your only chance to win. I could get lucky and beat Orochi Leona with Robert, but no one stood a chance against Orochi Iori except using him yourself too.

Mukai's death parallels the similarities and power gap between Ash and Saiki: Ash collected two Sacred Treasures, but Saiki collected the powers of Mukai and Magaki. Saiki throwing darkness-infused rocks and transforming show he did get their powers.

Great list some of mine are Shion being a beautiful male. Also every awkward moment in AOF endings usually between Takuma, King and Ryo thats certainly one. Xanadu is straight up creepy and weird.

3:07 if you see the original stage of Omega Rugal in kof98, you can see the beheaded body of Goenitz. Subsequently, that motivated a user in mugen to dedicate himself to making an edit of Goenitz called "CORPSE".
To be honest the treatment of the American Sports team is the real number 1 KOF moment.

In regards Vice (both of them are my favs like for 17 years) shes biting chewing, then vomiting in the last moments you can see her wiping mouth after vomiting- technically it's not cannibal. Just a form of severe sadistic attack XD especial if it's against dickheaded boring most popular teams member - which revolts her a bit extra XD

Ok, I'm convinced enough to give KOF 97 a try even if KOF 98 UM exists.
That Omega Rugal thing… I imagined his ship sank into the ocean and he was isolated there. So he used the tech in the ship to convert the statues of his opponents into sustenance. In order to keep going and we, the player, interrupted him.

Regarding Rugal's stage in '98, I think it's worth a mention that you can see something that looks like Goenitz's decapitated corpse in the back.
Kof really shines after 97. It's still my favourite kof.
