At 39:02 the card doug tribute summons is Blizzard Princess, which can be summoned with 1 tribute if the tribute is a spellcaster, and he just happened to have a spellcaster on the field lmao

didn't he use to play spellbook in duel links which used to use that monster
@@mattisandersson9661it was used in extremely early builds though, so even if he played spellbooks it may have been in a period when it was simply not good anymore (?)
@@SomeRandomGuyOutHere it was used along side silent magician, but i guess he shoved a bunch of money to get all 3 SMs. But it was still very useful to dodge traps.
Love how well Doug and Danny are getting along and how much Danny has been growing this last year. He's a real breath of fresh air for the Yugioh community.

I think it would be cool to see reactions/reveals of the English text of the cards at the end of these matches, especially if there were any odd effects you couldn't quite figure out midgame
They did before, so they probably forgot to do it when it returned

The 2800 ATK waifu is Blizzard Princess, a card used by Alexis in the GX manga. She's a single tribute off of a Spellcaster monster and after she's Normal Summoned your opponent can't activate Spell/Trap cards for the rest of the turn

Level 3, Wind, Dragon.... Feedran, The Winds of Mischief.
If summoned, you can select a monster to give piercing to.
You can also target another monster as a quick effect, change it's position, and return Feedran to the hand.
I'm sure it would go well in some deck. I feel like I've played a deck that proc their effects... digital bug maybe... Dream Clown and Crass Clown could work depending on your opponent's deck... there was that time that my opponent killed me with a wind-up rabbit/torrential tribute and Dark Hole deck... it was embarrassing, but could benefit from this dragon.
Was screaming to summon the Blizzard Princess the whole time, its a 1 tribute because it has to be a spellcaster and when you summon it your opponent cant use spells or traps till the end of the turn. It was one of the boss monsters on Duel Links when the Dark Magicians were top tier

That's how the characters in the anime play with the 4kids cards, there's no text, not even for the monster's names. I still remember that episode that Syrus refuses to use a card cause he doesn't remember what it does.

@@melissagrenier2200Honestly, GX really felt like a sequel to the english dub more the original.
In GX, there was that dark other dimension they added. In the original they had to find a way to retroactively fit it into the old lore, while the english dub just said it was the Shadow Realm.
@@melissagrenier2200 Usually, the characters just know what their cards do and explain them to their opponents at length (at least as far as necessary at the moment), so animation-wise it's just unnecessary to add effect text that would most likely too small to be read on a TV screen as well as too long to be grasped within the moment it's shown anyway.

Of all URs to randomly put in Dzeeff's deck, it had to be the unsummonable Royal Straight Slasher 💀
I know right because I know the summoning coniditon required to summon it needing basically the other 3 knights and a specific spell card to just summon it and then need extra planning with the deck list to just use its effect for a board wipe

@fortidogi8620 nope you need royal straight spell card to summon it, and to activate royal straight you need to send the 3 knights from hand or face up field to the gy to summon it
And to be able to activate Slasher's effect you need to still have all 3 knights in grave and then to send 5 monsters from level 1 to 5 one each to board wipe your opponent

@fortidogi8620 yeah it is garbage and worse than just regular vanillas as it basically just has a summoning restriction effect as you got to deck plan for its effects and hope you don't draw them
doug knows what expendable dai and ogre do and still chooses to take 5000 damage to be able to summon the ogre instead of just activating dai on his own turn to pop doomcal and drop ogre backed by moon mirror shield immediately after

Cannot believe Danny pulled Harpie's Feather Storm and a Harpie Lady and didn't play them.
Now, would it have mattered in a format where monster effects rarely matter? No. But it would've been so funny to resolve it.

So glad Doug is back. Definitely needed this excellent gameplay in my life today.
Yu-gi-oh without reading was quite literally how the anime was played. No duelists in the anime knew what cards could do besides previous knowledge, so they had to play smart with prediction. You couldn’t just ask your opponent what they played or what their play style was. This added a certain magic to dueling since you had to play around monsters you might not know about, changing how the duel progresses.
However, IRL you just ask to read the opponents effects, throwing out any mystery or shock and just leaving you depressed while you watch your opponent combo. Honestly, if online dueling went back to the days when you couldn’t read cards mid-duel, the game would be much more exciting. More challenging as well but still exciting.
Moon mirror shield and ogre are both pretty depressing in this format. Kinda just solos the enemy.
Next stipulation: both players must include 3 copies of that russian roulette card and must summon it. Also, neither player can attack it or with it, nor can it be used for tribute, or for extra deck plays.

The 2800 ice monster requires 1 spellcaster tribute. That is the only thing i remember. Have her on my collection but have to look into it X3
I learned some Japanese to play the Japanese version of Battle Spirits so I can slowly read the Yu-Gi-Oh card effects in Japanese. The hard part is that most sentences from a Yu-Gi-Oh card are much longer and more complex than most other card games as every effect has 4 conditions and 10 restrictions before even getting to the actual effect.
Very happy to see you back. I 100% want to see you do more of No Reading episodes. In particular I think you should allow some sort of deck edit after a match win and do more games. Some sort of "learning" even if you can't read them.

an idea for a challenge just came to me as i was watching. its not fleshed out. you and your oppo can pull cards from anywhere, but you have to put every card in the deck. you can pull as many cards as you want as long as they can fit in your deck. so you can pull 5 packs to have 40 or 7 for 56 (if no ed mons). not sure how to deal with overflow from the last pack. the sr craft to unlock the pack can be scrapped or kept. the way i see this play out is that both of you would have to pick the best secret pack you think would both work as a minimal engine as well as good enough to beat whatever the oppo thinks up. you can also choose to include a min change limit, eg. you can both only choose to swap out 10 cards from your first 40-some pulls if that would make it more fun or skill based. copies over 3x just count as if you didnt pull them, OR maybe can be swapped to anything? like as a reward for bad luck.
anyway the idea invaded my brain so i vomited it out.
