IA is a gentleman and quite humble for all his accomplishments. I don't think people realize how prolific he has been over the past 50 years. He must be a perfectionist and a workaholic too because everything he puts out is top notch. Whether it's old Tull remasters, new Tull/IA, solo albums, etc. he always delivers for his fans. Tull's heyday may have been the 70s but they put out some solid albums in the 80s, 90s, and even 2000s. Looking forward to this one and wishing you good health Ian.
Ian Anderson is a gentleman and a genius! The "soul" of Jethro Tull! ✨👑✨
He IS jethro Tull.
@@Lauriedriver true
Ian is Jethro Tull. He is the essence of their story. The reason why Tull is still a current force of new music.
All because of Ian's unquestionable brilliance. A creative genius.
I love Ian… I met him in 2009 in DC after a concert. Great guy, super generous. However I’ve heard that he’s not easy to work with. However I think this is because he has vision and drive… and if one cannot keep up with that I am sure it causes tension.
Looking forward to the album!
Your performance of “ Thick as a Brick “ in Minneapolis, ‘72 or so was unforgettable. I don’t think I blinked, it was absolutely beautiful. Thanks
There has been nothing wrong with this era of Tull. The creativity is there! Keep doing you
I've been listening at least 47 years. you inspired me to play the flute. You have even autographed my flute that I have had that long! My favorite band of all time!
I love how Ian stays true to himself and is open and honest about it - a rare quality in the music business but one that should always be applauded. Can't wait for the album! 😃
Absolutely
Absolutely love his music 🎶 🎵
Have always
im 54 and Jethro Tull have been there through my life as my dad loved them. Even when i was a punk in the 80s i was still blasting my jethro albums. I will always love them, the beauty of the music, the places it takes you to...thankyou Ian xxx
Well, I trust very much Ian's taste of music for in over 5 decades he didn't disappoint one bit.
Rock on legend 🤟🔥
First time I got to see Jethro Tull was the Crest Of A Knave tour. I really like everything I've heard so far. Cheers!🥃
All of your music is related. I hear things from all your albums in the new songs. You are a brilliant musician and I am thankful for all your music. The world is a better place because of you! 🌿
Inspiration comes and sometimes goes away forever for many composers, but the biggest achievement of this release is Ian's ability to get back his own path in music which is no other than Jethro Tull. Nobody has created something like this for decades and I feel that Røkflote will always be if not unknown, a most underrated great piece of music.
Oh yes indeed, continuity is a valuable asset, especially in the times that we live.
The new album will be a success as it will contain the unmistakable JT-DNA on the very inside.
Interesting video, pleasant and touching to get the Maestros thoughts and inside.
Looking forward to acquire the album in April.
Warm Regards, Rolf
Ian. You are a genius, well done & thanks for your music giving me so much pleasure from the very beginning
Really excited about the new release, Ian! The "teaser" track you shared with us in another video is exactly the embodiment of what you described here: an immediate identification with elements of classic Jethro Tull. It's heartwarming that you are continuing to release such excellent music. Thank you, Ian!
I LOVE the new album! I feel it represents all the best sounds of Jethro Tull over the years all wrapped up in a great story with superb lyrics!
Ian your music has always been an inspiration, with truthful lyrics, from cross eyed mary, to puer ferox adventis, and sad city sisters.
The story continues.
Just want too say thanks Sir. It was a great ride.
is
Very tasteful tease. Anxiously awaiting. You seem to have great health both mentally and physically. Thanks for your longevity and ability to keep us entertained.
I have been a Tull fan since 1971 and then of course Solo records of Ian and the other members. I remember Roots to Branches and Dot Com did not have much of an impact at the time. As all of us Tull Fans do, we will revisit all the albums over time and I love to rediscover how brilliant Ian has been over the years and each Album at one point or another becomes my current favorite.
A true original- all the best! Still listen to Tull music very often. Love all the different incarnations, have seen most of them except for The Mick Abrahams era.
when I was 14 I was grounded for something I won't disclose here. I went to my room, It was New Year's Eve, maybe 1971. I laid in bed and listened to the entire eight track. It left an indelible mark on my life.
For my the best progressive rock band and Ian Anderson the first. .. .
I heard "The Navigators" and yes, that's Jethro Tull. I pre-orderd because I'm eager to add more Tull to my collection. Thank you Ian.
Best band of All Times.
Rock on Mr. Anderson. Amen.
I definitely like the album's cover.
Really great. Also loved both singles from upcoming album.
Good luck Ian I’m looking forward to the new music !
Sadly never saw Tull live until 11th July '72 though could swear there was an 'Aqualung' tour before TAAB? Anyway Australia was a long way from UK then, somewhat closer now I guess, so lucky indeed for their brisk yet wondrous antipodean tour. Will they tour off this? One can only hope. The tidbits certainly feel familiar, always different, but definitely Jethro Tull. 🤩
A Passion Play.
I get all of my philosophy from song lyrics.
'The Perfect One' is easily the best Ian/Tull song since 'A Change of Horses'. Give it a close, loud listen!
Really enjoyed zealot gene, mine is the mountain absolutely excellent
Bravo, kinsman! Cheers
All 3 songs released so far have been excellent and I am looking for Rökflöte. Ordered the artbook-version and I can't wait to add it next to Zealot Gene artbook.
Good morning. We are coming back in no more than 1 hr., @, with the first prophetic message for you to view. Reviewing it now, returning to enter this 1st message to you. Thanks
Looking forward to the new album🙂
I love progressive rock and I wish they'd bring it back
Thanks to Ian, it hasn't really gone away.
Ian, From someone who's last Tull purchase was Stormwatch in '79 when I was 17, I've never purchased or really listened to anything from the A Lp to now (except the Christmas Album) I am really looking forward to RokFlote! The two tracks I've listened to sound great!! Best Of Luck!
The Zealot Gene was a wonderful return to form, so I'm really hoping this one takes up the baton too.
I like it a lot, it shows a lot of intellect like back in the good old days.
Always very good Music with flute
Hi Ian I have enjoyed your music since grade 5 first song I heard of yours was Bungle in the Jungle, that song was the start of many years of collecting your music to this date many thumbs up thank you Ian , our Birthdays are on the same day to funny hay :-)
when is Broadsword 40 anniversary coming out...waiting patiently...
Familiar but different. Ha! Different but yet familiar. Jethro Tull is the rock in which the message is told.
Looking forward to it. Would like to know what „RökFlöte“ means … can anyone tell me? And yes, continuity is very important!
Wise words. I'm trying to write a book in the same vein - and I've written lyrics and music too (written being a relative and loose term😉), I understand that Led Zeppelin took a similar approach. It's that self actualisation thing that Maslow et al leaned heavily upon. In spirit, inspiration, similar with Einstein, Nicolai Tesla et al taking from the Great hall of records, the stream of consciousness etc, living one's bliss.
One thing is bugging me, the intro music? There's a motif that has so many familiar strains within it, but I can't quite put my finger on it/them🤔😉✌️💜🤞🤔 Yes it does feel like a Tull amalgam, but there's bits of Adam and the Ants' "Ant Invasion" and I forget who inspired them in that track, I know they also tipped their hat to, iirc, Rumble by Link Ray in their 'Killer in the Home" (that's all from memory btw, don't shot me if I have that all slightly wrong😉✌️💜😊). I also forgot what mode Ant Invasion is played in - sorry brain fog, haven't picked up a guitar in awhile either.
Which tour included a stage with a pirate ship? What year was it and are there videos of the concert available?
That was during Stormwatch, so 1979ish or early 1980s footage, you'd find it around that time. edit: North American Tour 1979
The Broadsword and the Beast
@@mathhaagen4261 Thank you!
I think it was 1982, The Broadsword And The Beast, and a Viking ship.
Would love to hear Ian talk about some of his 'Failure' Albums.
Listening to the discography for the first time as a teen back in the late 2000's i can definitely pick out some that really didn't land.
I don't see a failure album by Tull/IA with one exception, the Christmas Album. The only one that does not have at least one piece I couldn't live without. And even that is still listenable.
@@NuntiusLegis for me, basically everything after stormwatch is practically unlistenable.
Strangely i love the Christmas album!
@@NuntiusLegis
Winter Snowscape is one I think it fantastic.
@@trebuh I wonder why you bother being here then? To me there are almost all good JT albums, and many great ones, and a couple just above average albums. Ian said January of this year he started yet another one due like in Aug of 2024 ... and I am already excited about that.
@@trebuh
For me the Christmas album is OK, but the but most of the redos are gilding the lily - too much extraneous nonsense, like the orchestrated version of Aqualung ... dreadful.
I'll be perfectly frank. The last album made me go back through the Tull catalogue primarily because I was so disappointed in it that I wanted to revisit the good times. I still can't really get into it. But this new record sounds like the Tull I love and I'm very excited to hear the whole thing.
I started out skeptical of the last album because of the dark creepy videos, but it is great.
I love the music, and the fact that the lyrics are more mature and adult ... positive.
I can't get over it to see such a change, and and advancement in my favorite band after so many years.
Ίαν, σ' αγαπάμε!
🙏👌
Going back? Hope there will be something Tony Iommi as well

Perfection with a bit of randomness contains more meaningful information than perfection alone.
Nothing novel or interesting happens unless it is on the border between order and chaos.

I'd put my shirt on it being a half decent album!
Howdy! Now what is that figure at the beginning of this vid message, with the 2 horns? !!!!!!!! We have been off grid, for awhile, v important. Back in business now. So we have several important msg’s. Tomorrow, though, been a long day. And We Do Have That Address. Business address for fans, not promotional people, per se, etc. That will commence in June, @. We are going to write important msg’s., starting tomorrow. Peace, Shalom. (Jesus loves you, and it’s simple). Please forgive any misspellings, working off an imbedded online keyboard 🎹 currently, and the silly thing moved up and is partially covering the text. Resuming Twitter soon as well. Listened to a new album today, JT. Song, Mrs. Tibbs or something. You’re something else, where do you think this stuff up? Lol. It’s great! Sending info to that London PO Box, with no returns requested. It’s for you, Important Info., but that won’t be until about June.
too right, follow your instincts and write for yourself otherwise what's the point.
if it doesn't bring in any money you have no professional career, you are just a hobbyist musician and composer like the rest of the bedroom composers
@@rabarebra he knows plenty about making money.
@@rabarebra Many great artists lived and died poor. Sometimes a genius is recognized after death, sometimes never. Ian was lucky to start in the 60s and 70s, which was a short time in history when incredibly intelligent music (Tull, ELP, Van Der Graaf, Gentle Giant and other prog rock) could become incredibly popular for a while, for whatever reason.
@@Robbo57
Hahahaha, true that!
@@NuntiusLegis Are you done following me?
Sorry to see this hirsute old rocker gone bald! But surely that's not s silly tie he's wearing?! Oh well, at least he keeps playing amazing music, and gathering clever musos around him, for which we are grateful.
PS: One of the eschatological (end times) prophecies is, The Lord is not mad at Putin! So, Brave Yourself! We have a great story to share about him. Y won’t believe it! Until then, my dear Friend…
I’m so Happy! I fixed my imbedded 🎹 keyboard. It’s back in place, where it belongs. Under the message, now we can read what we are writing! Lol! This message is a Correction, to the message above, re: Putin. I said in that message, to Brace Yourself. I think predictive text turned it into….insisted upon…writing…Brave Yourself. CORRECTION: IT’S…BRACE YOURSELF! Have a great evening!
But Ian, why don't you use Steven Wilson on your new records like you did on the remixes? Just can't get it, as the Zealot Gene sounds really really badly produced.
I feel the opposite, the Wilson remixes sound terrible to me, while my ears have no problems with The Zealot Gene or the two new songs at all.
@@NuntiusLegis
Yeah, me too. On the anniversary albums I always listen to the old versions of the songs because the newer ones don't ever sound any better, and in a few cases sound worse.
Zealot Gene was awesome to me, and the maturity and content of the lyrics were great. Going back to Homo Erraticus it seemed thin and skimpy to me, and much the same using the same progressions, still some damn good music ... more good songs on a bad IA/JT album that good songs on most other artists' records.
@@NuntiusLegis Buy new ears then.
@@NuntiusLegis Didn't ask you.
@@rabarebra The Wilson mixes sound dry and boring compared to the excellent remasters of the original mixes that were released a few years earlier.
The music sounds interesting, but Ian, I'm a sound engineer, and it sounds worst than a demo tape 50 years ago.
It's aksing for a bitter mix.
