I spoke with us shift. They are suppose to be releasing they're stand alone control pack for the 10r80 in July. That's the target at least. It's been a long time coming. In development since 2018.
I have thought about doing this for a while now, and you are correct with the cams ect, my thought was to use a modified gen 3 10r80 control pack and trying it that way, my tuner thinks its possible. However i do not want to go down this road just yet as i have other projects lol. Someone will figure this out eventually.
Yes exactly, I don't know what the Raptor R has for a PCM yet but I would assume it's pretty close to the 18-23 Mustangs, right? The big hurdle to get over was the same phasers and it seems like we've finally found a way to cross that bridge! I'll eventually try it for myself but I'd love to see someone who doesn't have as much on their plate as us try it lol

i mean i dont really think it would still be viable though at that point you be at the cost of buying trans, pcm, and wiring when you could toss a on3 twin kit on for 5500$ and throw a 1500$ converter and gap whatever you want for less than a 10r swap realistically and you still retain your reliability of the 6r80.
yeah not built 6r80 can even mach a stock 10r80 something that means having powerband on a curve like a highclimb or a time attack events.... so your pont is only valid for drag racing and I know because right know Im soon to be the world´s first 2015 mustang with a 10R80 and I invested more than 7 grand on my 6r80 to make it shift as fast as possible on paddleshift mode but still slow as fuck compared to a 10r80....
@@moimon4074 i mean i dont know anyone taking these trucks to a hill climb or a time attack race crazy fuckers... but most and speaking for me yeah drag racing and daily driving dont get me wrong id love to have a 10r80 in my 16 but then you are still down the .5 compression and dual port injection that the gen 3s come stock with at that point almost just trade the 6r80 vehicle in for a 10r80 vehicle... orrr just slap boost on and call it good for that same 7k.. unless you are already boosted
@@dugganracecraftI rather pay an extra 2k for 4 extra gears. 10r80 > boost. You can have the 10r80 with a nice NA set up on e in the 10s, and then when you’re ready you can boost it
Im just a deer staring off into a set of headlights on this subject 🤣😂 but Im leaving a comment anyway. I was hoping that you wouldve been the first one to run a 10r80 behind a gen ll in a ll . Which you may be the first one to do it in a ll. I need your expertise to build a custom set of headers for me one day hopefully if u have time. Should be a cakewalk with a 347 in a pinto vs a mustang ll with a gen ll yote, Im stuck on making SBF go fast in the 60's 🤣😂🤣

Not as of yet, I’m mainly waiting to see available of the PCM once you can get the Raptor R parts. The first production units are rolling out now so hopefully some updates come soon!
I'm currently redoing it, I'm currently negotiating with a company who will remain nameless until the deal is finalized to come up with an all in 1 kit for this set up!
So you seem super knowledgeable on the Ford platform I'm wanting to put 10r80 in a 03 fx4 not sure it's possible but it does appear to bolt up to the 5.4 2v not really able to find much info on the transfer case or if it makes more sense to get with a transfer case and match things back up at the axles
As far as I know, the transfer case is just basic inputs/outputs. There’s no canhub network that runs through it but don’t quote me on that. 6R80 would be a much easier swap to pull off. People do it all the time with 4.6 cobras, and electrically the 5.4 is nearly identical.
Just stick to getting a Six speed in your car! Lol.... stick with Huffy for 10 speeds! Lol Its a good concept would an aftermarker engine/trans Management system hamdle what your shooting for if it all bolts up??

I wouldnt call this much of a swap, I think people were waiting for something that would actually allow a swap with a 10r80 with other platforms. If your running a 10r instead of a 6r your probably not racing a fast car.
But this would allow for a swap on other platforms, using a raptor PCM and harness as a “control pack” so to speak. I can’t think of a single scenario where the 6R would be faster than the 10R aside from a full blown race car and if you’re looking into that avenue, this probably isn’t the video for you anyways.
@@dugganracecraft when you tweak your pressures a 6r can be significantly faster than its stock form and handle that power far longer. I dont think a 10r is bad, but if they came out with a standalone controller it would drastically improve its aftermarket interest, otherwise its generally a N/A mustang beast and thats it. Older hot rods would really benefit with a controller.
I definitely agree and that would definitely be much easier than what I described. However, from what I've heard, I don't think a standalone is a realistic possibility in the near future.
@@suecra1228 from what I'm finding, the 6R is generally more forgiving for those that race their boosted coyotes. I'd love to see an affordable option to put a 6R behind a Gen 3 coyote. Now that would be ground breaking!

Fueltech employee Eduardo Arcondo has a 10L80 from a camaro working with a fueltech and is in the process of coyote/10R80 swapping an old f150

No I agree %100. 10r80 prices are through the roof recently at about $2500 for a 2wd one and 6R80s are at about $500-700.

I have a 2013 5.0 6r80 with 225k. I want to replace the trans proactively and was contemplating a 6.2 and a 10r80 swap. Thoughts?
That could be good, but difficult to do with an all in 1 controller. I don’t think the 6.2 ever came with a 10 speed but I could be wrong?

Yeah I did it to my 07 fx4 and I have a 2014 6r80 in it with the us shift controller and my 4x4 still works like factory
