    In Suriname, the Maroons held a line in the jungle against the Dutch for 100's of years until the end of slavery...Many Maroons nether knew being enslaved because they ran away to the jungle as soon as they arrived in Suriname.

    It’s always so heart warming watching cultures separated by thousands of miles come together and finding their common root.
    One thing I take away from watching this is the fact that slavery completely broke our people to the core, making them forget the essence of what
    Made them who they really were, but those who escaped it managed to hold on to the pieces that to this day help them remember who they are and
    Where they once came from. Beautiful. Examples to look at: the Maroons, the Gullah Geechee, the Massembos clan in French Guadeloupe, the Palenque, the Quilombo/Mocambo…

    🇸🇷 👂🏿👀Freedoms hard-won. Over the centuries we have been able to build, develop a true incomparable community in its own right which continues today, we continue to cultivate this cultural and identity difference proudly affirmed in culture our own languages, traditions, music, cuisines and values... In ethics there are 6 tribes with 6 great supreme customary chiefs. 6 (Gaan Lo) tribes: Pamaka, Aluku or (Boni), Saamaka, Matawai, Okanisi or (Djuka), Kwiïnti. The 6 (Gaanman), of the 6 communities (Gaanman Lo) each is made up of its own traditional council: the Gaanman as the main leaders of the community, a certain number of Kabiten as leaders of the different sub-communities (Lo) and a certain number of Basiya as assistants to the Kabiten and Gaanman in each (Lo). And in particular Women can also occupy all these positions we have experienced mistreatment, discrimination, racism all the evil of slavery therefore the woman is in her place as a human woman equal to men. Therefore also in our societal culture we are in a culture structured by the Matrilineal Clan. Consider that each of us is descended from a line of women from Africa called Mamabee
    🇸🇷 we Bushinenge (maroon) of Suriname. We have many languages 7 & 7 : there seven contemporary Afro-Surinamese and a bit of european Creole languages: Sranan tongo, Saamaka, Matawai, Okanisi, Kwiïnti, Aluku and Pamaka. 7 other older ones that some of us also practice are : Amanfu, Kumanti, Akoopina, Loanga, Ampuku, Papa and Anklibenda, ancestral African languages. THESE ARE LANGUAGES PRACTICED ALREADY MORE THAN 343 - 500 YEARS OLD. I am extremely proud of what we have, I myself speak 7 of them with other languages from elsewhere like French, English and Créole guyanaise.
    6 kingdom, tribes with their 6 Gaanman. Once again don't forget we are the only ones outside Africa who have these specificities of tribal communities with a maroon identity of 6 unique and UNITED kingdoms. But on this note let us never forget the role played by our own African brothers and sisters who failed to protect us from slavery and others who simply gave us to the European slavers, I say this because we Surinamese bushinenge we will always talk about everything without neglect. thank you Ghanaians but come and see what we have built after so many centuries of hardship. Gaan tangi fu wi.

    The Ewes, Fantes and GAs are the groups who formed the African blood line of Surinamese and the diaspora. Most of them, relate themselves to only Akans, Asantes or Ashanti, they are ignorant of history. Asantes or the Ashanti Kingdom sold them out to slavery. Fante is Akan but not Asante. Their Ghanaian names can be traced to Fantes, Ewes and GAs.

    The Ga names occur a lot in maroon stories it is just for pronunciations that many has tried to Akanize these names like Prince Akrashie from Accra and Elmina they call Akwashie the leader ofNani army, Prince Kojo name of Jamestown kings the say kujoe, etc Bonny is name of kings in Jamestown as well and the Ga man that Surinam call kings could be Gamei. The Ga fought in Ghana, Togo, Benin and even for Oyo in Nigeria and by their nature they and their Obutu and kin were very likely to maroon given their in your face ready to fight attitude

Eg. “Sika”(money) in Twi and the Ga added “h” to made it shika, “asafo” in Twi and Ga made it asafoatse, “obrempon”(Twi) and Ga made it, oblempon, “awura”(Twi) and made it awula, koborfou/borko (vagabond) and Ga made it koborlor , nane (leg) in Twi and Ga made says nané, Oman/man >man(GA) etc. Also by Ga women having children with Akan men adopted a lot of Akan names like Mensa/Mensah, Bonnie >Bonney, Agyei, Adu, Ankra, Kwadwo/Kojo/Kodwo/Kudwo/Kujo >Ga(Kujoe) etc. even some of the Homowo festive songs are sung in Twi.

    • @FIAlive
      @FIAlive Před rokem

      @@missbabyloved7531 you made an inciting comment but, it’s rather the opposite. GAs and Ewes are from one blood line. Ewes, GAs and Akan-Ewes (known as Chakosi)all migrated from Dahomey/ Benin and Oyo in Nigeria to Togo, note that these areas are all Ewe dominated regions. The GAs, Akans, and some Ewes expanded beyond the river Volta. GAs and the Akwamus, Akyem etc are cousins to the Ewes. From the Ewe, GAs and Denkyiras we got the fantes. Ewes, GAs and Chakosi people gave rise to all these Akan groups mentioned above. We have the Chakosi’s people in Togo and Benin as we communicate.
      A mixture of the Chakosi-Ewes and the Northerners (who came from Burkina Faso) gave rise to the Bono people, Denkyira and Asantes.
      The culture of all Akans were inherited from Ewes and GAs, it’s not the other way round. The origin of Akans(Bono) is trace to the Oyo people in Benin and Nigeria, who are Gbe speakers . Oyoko clan come from Oyo people. The Europeans messed up the relationship between all these groups. The sow tribal identity, classification and greed between them, which lead to separations. We were all one people in the past.

    • @FIAlive
      @FIAlive Před rokem +1

      @@missbabyloved7531 you can do more research on the origin of all the groups in Ghana on Wikipedia and JSTOR. Research more on all the tribes or groups then you will know more. Many Akans, especially Akans don’t know they origin. They think they are originally from Ghana, that is false. We all migrated or expanded from Nigeria to Ghana. If we trace further, you will know that we all come from the central region of Africa. Congo, Kenya etc. The origin of man started in Central Africa. From there we expanded to the North, South, East and West. The Northern Africans gave rise to the Arabs, Europeans and the Asians.
