This is so cool! I love how you combined the balancing wagons with a rail gun! I recognize the tank also, that appears to be an Italian L3/35 tankette. It's very fitting for this train!
Was just gonna say that tank looks like an Italian one fielded in WWII designed to be operable in the Italian Alps and the rest of Italy's hilly and mountainous landscape, hence it's small size, but couldn't remember the name/model. Thousands were made, believe they had a 2 man crew.
Really brilliant stuff.
You will need at least one passenger coach for the crew -- five men, signaller, forward observer, section commander -- and since you don't have any toolboxes on the wagon, a van for gun spares/tools and perhaps more ammunition. Getting the 3-tonne tankette -- command/scout/forward observation vehicle -- on and off its flat would probably require the use of a sectional or folding ramp, so maybe a separate flat for the ramp units. Coastal defence batteries don't just grow on trees, you know -- unless you plan to catapult coconuts at the enemy landing-craft.

If I was a enemy going to the island I would have laughed my head off at the tiny tank and rail gun on top of a one axles wagon and the rail gun is pointing at the fuel tank 😂

Amazing craftsmanship Sam! My most favorite feature of this new product of yours has to be the new pivoting NEM pockets, a step up from your older methods of holding couplings.
This deserves an island shaped table top layout to become everything Hornby Steampunk never was. The tank could be scaled up a bit to suit an adult as I am sure Uncle Fredrickson's 3 year old grandson is not really of military recruitment age, yet he is the only one small enough to fit in the tank(ette).
the italian tankette has me. I’d imagine the island just stole it after it was captured.
These are great, but I’ve got a suggestion or two:
1. Make a post train of some sort and maybe the story can be like in the winter of 1952, the roads were blocked out from some of the villages on the grimburn railway commissioned the last three balancing wagons to make a little post train and save Christmas or something. (Conflat, mail box, traveling post office)
2. Make like a little trolley this one doesn’t have to be balancing, but I think it could be cool.

Love this so much. I'd love to be able to get more flat wagons and tankettes to make a long balancing train snake, as though more balancing flatbeds were commissioned for the transport of tankettes during the war.

Great idea. This would look even better with a few soldiers added - maybe carrying a shell? Have you considered adding some outriggers for the cannon? - without such a precaution it would probably fall over when fired!

I love that the Tankette isn't a Carden-Loyd or a bren carrier (or any other British tankette) but instead a L3/35 an Italian Tankette which is known for being a funny little vehicle and is a bit of a meme in tank world. Which makes it very fitting to see on one of Uncle Fredrikson's Amazing Balancing wagons. And if it wasn't for that tankette, I probably wouldn't have bought one as soon as I got done watching the video.
Lol. Even today, the successful defence of the Island still is being taught in schools everywhere during history lessons... 🤣 With balancing rolling stock anything seems possible, hahah. The balancing wagons are on top of your crazy wittiest projects Sam 🤣

You need to build a balancing 0-2-0 locomotive. Probably need to be a tender engine.

We’ve gotten an update regarding Dublin’s upcoming MetroLink this week, which plans to connect our airport by rail with the city centre.
Is that a 1 man tank?
haha yeah - they'd have their heads popping out the top I believe... it's based on a real one, but scaled down slightly for the purposes of the tiny wagon!

2 wheel self balancing military railcars? I'll have to think about that, but I do love the railgun itself, technically a 4 wheel vehicle.
Could i maybe get an stl of the pivoting NEM part, im making my own and i need the NEM part, i would be very happy of you could send me that part of the wagons, as that would save me alot of headaches and time.
A decent video here Sam, won’t be picking these up myself personally but you wanted to know what my new 18100 Gas Turbine locomotive was like and overall it is a very good model from Rails of Sheffield and a heljan, I have been running it over the weekend and performance is also very good, personally I’m very happy with the model and it looks great next to my 18000 Gas Turbine locomotive.

While I do love this cute little war train, I couldnt help but notice the Tankette (It´s an L3/33 for all you wondering) are horribly out of scale and could only work in N scale. Ofcourse a Tankette is small in real life, but It´s only really small compared to other tanks, however they can easily be the same size as your average car (or atleast European cars)
Now I am wondering if Uncle Fredrickson has ever made any engines, i assume some sort of Single Diesel engine
Hear me out to finish the collection of balancing wagons we need an engine to pull them perhaps the first oo gauge 0-2-0?
would the original consist not have a small coach or van sam?. to transport the gun crew and or tank crew. great video again keep em coming.

hahaha I love it! Yes... the military trains were famously very impractical, and in many cases their operating crews received more injuries than the enemies, but they did get the job done in the end!
