My brother and I got the new lego Star Wars game recently, and what annoys me the most somehow isn’t the sheer number of collectibles, it’s the sheer number of collectibles you CANT GET on your first run through. Every level we’ve been to so far it feels like half the collectibles are artificially locked away forcing you to to heavy backtracking later down the line. This is painful for both of us because we love collecting things in games. Heaven and hell, even though we have a specific character class for a specific ability for collecting, we still can’t collect with it because the ability itself is locked behind a later level. This game is feeling so tedious to both of us because of all this, this video really hits home.
I’ve recently appreciated the achievement system in 3d sonic to the point it made me love games like sa2 and unleashed for improving and getting better w the levels, that’s the extra content I value sm
I feel like the whole "more doesn't mean better" notions fits with pokemon. List of Pokemon is nearing 1000s and some people want to have all pokemon AND mega evolutions. Yeah we had the natdex for 7 gens but other games have good rosters without needing every monsters like digimon & SMT. I feel like we need gamefreak improve battle and not add every pokemon under the sun.
Yeah. I mean, It can work in certain games, but even there, there’s a limit. If it was a smaller game, that would be fine, but adding more doesn’t make it necessarily better. An example of More actually adding to the game would be The Binding of Isaac and it’s DLCs. The DLCs actually adds to the game, with new enemies, bosses, items, challenges, levels, and even final bosses. A bad example of this is The Battle Cats, which, while I like the game, the almost constant addition of cats and levels and enemies ends up becoming overwhelming, especially in the case of cats because TBC is also a Gacha game.

Here's a honorable mention : Paper Mario The Origami Korigami. I mean King. Origami King. Yea. Don't get me wrong, people in the comments section, I do love this game, so much so that I can tell the classic fans to kiss my ass any day about it, but if you think that I'm gonna go fucking back to either Eddy River or Shy Guys fucking Finish Last, or even trying to find every single speck (as in Question Blocks, Toads and Treasure Chests) this game has to offer, or rather hide, look me in my bloodshot eyes and all you see is a mirror with the word stupid imprinted above. Same thing with the Yo Kai Watch games which, I do love, but if I'm gonna gamble my sanity to collect every single motherfucking Yo Kai INCLUDING VERSION AND STREETPASS EXCLUSIVES then you better ask someone else to do it cause I actually prefer being stable. And if you think I'm gonna touch on the Pokédex on any of my Pokémon games (except maybe Legends Arkoos) then I'd rather go back to playing Touhou Lost Word!

if my life was a game the extra content would be the friends we made along the way
