- The Guinness World record was held by a horse names ossopo, but chileno and huaso have beaten this but are both about the same level so they hold a jump off, and the winner will be the worlds highest horse jump.......
the actual highest horse jump ever was won by a horse named "kings own" but the crowd was too small to count it :(
i hope you enjoy!!

Oh and by the way... Chileno survived but was retired from competition after the crash - this shows the people back then cared about their horses too - like we do now :)
Why does it matter if the jump wasn't performed in a public crowd, there's a photo. Thats not fair:/
I believe there needed to be a judge there (they would only be at the big events) since there's no way to verify the record without one (we really can't tell how high the horse jumped from the photo alone). Sports have those regulations to keep things fair for others that are trying to beat the same record.

Also, I believe horses are a prestige. There ARE jumps, unrecorded, in spectacular private events going back one hundred years - even more. Your comment is well stated 🐎

Si existe una grabación con el registro. No solo hay fotos, y es reconocido por Guiness Récord.
Guinness records is a renowned record keeping book in the world it certainly have some mandatory rules to follow for example a representative of their own organisation who is well-versed in every aspect of the concerned record, They also consider the records made in a national and international events like olampics or other prestigious events like football world cup,EPL,UFC,etc.were the margin of error or faul play is almost zero.therefore the Guinness records are acknowledged across the world.
0:39 There's a big mistake:
The horse's name is Huaso, The rider's name is Alberto Larraguibel, and "chileno" is the nationality of the rider, from Chile.
CORRECTLY
The horse in the beginning with the "unofficial" record was utterly amazing!!!!!
I'm already proud of my girl trot/jumping over a 1m fence. I was done with riding her that day so I was trotting her so she could enjoy a good cooling down. I had my reins loose and all of a sudden she goes trotting in the slowest trot ever to a 1m fence we had been practicing allot. She jumps it ( clear ) and goes back to trotting without even making a galop stride. And we never really jumped that high until that day ( normally 60/80 cm ). I can't wait to see whather highestrecord may be ;)
My highest jump is 140cm on my 128cm pony
Amazing! The bond between the horse and rider must of been so strong-The rider thought the horse could jump it, so the horse did too!
pick less creepy music next time
OMG! Hahahhahahah. Exactly!
@BlitzkriegCHILE you might need a little more grammar 🤔
Tipico fachito chileno :/
@BlitzkriegCHILE Grammer please.

its so depressing
People who say this is terrible- if the horse seriously didn't want to jump this it wouldn't. They still decide once it comes to tricks that are fatal. They are 1200lb animals who can easily kill a human and they are capable of surviving mountain lion attacks. Spurs and bits are definitely not worse, especially if used correctly.
Look on the bright side: the horse trusted the rider enough to jump such a tremendous height. This bond is truly amazing.
Alsu Kochak ok show me a horse jumping that high without human coreshion.
+Alsu Kochak You'd think that an animal wouldn't do something if it didn't want to. However by making an animal fear what'll happen to it if it didn't, over the pain of doing whatever it is that is asked of it can end with surprising results.
My great grandpa actually jumped on a horse over a really high obstacle "just for the show". The horse hit the obstacle with his front legs and they broke. After laying a few days with broken legs my great grandpa shot the horse dead. You should NEVER jump over obsacles that you know are too high for your horse. You should never take that risk. Just because it goes right like it went with Huaso, doesn't mean it always goes right. And that's sad and unfair for horses who don't make it. People shouldn't be so fucking selfish.
+Amber Snippe I must agree with you. Whatever you do with your horse, you must have some certainty he can do it. Like planes, horses have "ceilings" that limit them, and a good horseman should recognise such limits. Besides, that, not every horseman can take the horse to his limits. I've seen people pay fortunes for excellent jumpers, thinking they'll become winners with them, much to their disappointment
COMPLETELY AGREED WITH AMBER. As some one born and raised horse....pushing yourself and pushing your animal is one thing....I grew up 3 day eventing....not much intimates me....that being said if you have that amazing of a bond and trust with your partner/team mate/horse then YOU decide what that horse is going over/through, because if your horse trusts you that much and has a heart of gold (like a lot of them do) they will do/go over ANYTHING for you even if it breaks them. That is where ignorant people can get confused. If you in a schooling barn with ponies that hate their lives, then yes, you will have every trick in the book thrown at you. When you have a bond/relationship with your horse (or any animal for that matter) and work as a team, then you have to ALWAYS ask yourself...."is this safe for them?"
2m47 jump with a horse?

a true pinnacle moment - not likely to ever be beaten

This horse was a Thoroughbred born in Chile, and originally called "Faithful". He was a racehorse and retired from racing in 1944 to begin training in the Chilean Cavalry School. There he was taught dressage and jumping. His training was overseen by Chilean Cavalry Officer Major Rafael Monti.
Wow.. I can't even begin to comprehend what's going through the rider's mind when he faces a jump like that! The sheer determination must be overwhelming.
I like the ancient music to go along with the ancient photos...
This is so awesome, I hated that the first wasn't counted. I thought that was silly.... but when Huaso attempted the third time it was so amazing! Love, love, love the video!
If not mistaken this might be the jump - a Colonel was the rider, he was in retirement with his steed. Upon this contest, the Colonel put on his full Dress Uniform and took to his steed - this steed, knowing full well of his rider and precision intent ACED IT. Of course.
I think this is a fabulous story of horse and rider. I can't even call the horse, a "horse". This steed knew his call to his master and duty. The Colonal had no doubts on his steed. This was the second jump, the second contest that ended the rivalry.
Thank you for this great upload.
this is amazing(:
This makes you think about so much! Imagine the bond between the horse and rider. Must be pretty strong! ^_^
Great video, thanks!!
I think horses are absolutely amazing animals and I myself have a horse named soya and she is palamino and i think they are one of the most beautiful creatures on the planet and this video just shows how much strengh and courage these horses have !
I love horses and i event so let these people do their job they have worked hard and deserve to win GO PEOPLE YOU ARE MY HEROES!
wow my horse cant even jump near that
omg... sometimes i wonder how we could do something like this to our horses...
that is really amazing! a great rider,a great horse, the horse must have been really willing to attempt a jump that high!
that's so amazing!
love the video. wow. that was awesome. i dont know that id be brave enough to jumo my horse that high.
those horses are jumping stars!
wow!
why Freddie Wettach didn't try to re-attemp his jump with a publi crowd instead? that way he would hold the world record.
I just casually came across with these videos of Alberto Larraguibel Morales and "Huaso" jumping the 2.47m. I just feel so proud to be from the same town of this person and horse (Angol, Chile). You can actually find real size replicas of the jump in the town and they are amazingly high. You get all these old people telling you about the jump when you grow up and you look at it and it looks impossible. But as they say "impossible is nothing" specially for a chilean sportsman :D
nice work..i`m from chile...and those friends are a chilean proud...really...i did`nt know that about the first mistake...thank you ;D
good god!!. that jump at 10 seconds is amazing.. he luks lyk he cudda gone bigger!!!!
great horse 4 even thinkin of jumpin it
So true! I was warming my tb gelding in the school and he pulled me into the jump I was just wanting to pass. There was no stopping him. I was trying to pull him out but he was so adamant he was going to jump he ended up clearing the 6' wing instead!
Ever notice how it's the "old school" feats that are just amazing? The "Unofficial jump leaves you in awe. It's good that things have changed but hats off to the past equine athletes that are untouchable.
Oh my god that's amazing!! :O amzing horse though..
Wow, incredible bond!
Why didn´t you put the video of the jump? is everywhere
That’s amazing but I can’t imagine how that would affect the horse’s legs
People don't realize if the horses didn't want to do this, it wouldn't. People think riders force horses to do stuff, newsflash, we don't. If a horse genuinely does not want to do something, we can't really help that. Horses are bigger, they weigh more, and they're stronger than humans. If they really wanted to, they could throw us off, or knock us around on the ground. We're so lucky horses are loving creatures and they let us even touch them.
Exacly...
they are just crybabies
I know this is old, but couldn't agree more.
The horse doesn't have any chance?????!!! Are u blind? It isn't healthy to jump this high and in the wilderness there is no horse which is jumping that high, or? Yeah!!! Because it isn't healthy and it isn't normal!!! Humans just train and force the horse to jump this high, THEY DONT HAVE A CHANCE!!! They are broken, the fucking don't have any chance!!
that is awesome!!!
that's what i was thinking too! he makes that looks easier than huaso's slightly smaller jump!! that's amazing. what INCREDIBLE horses!!!!!
Great video, but two thing i would like to make clear. The Horse name was "Huaso" and the rider names was "Alberto Lrraguibel".
Cheers
thats a VERY big jump!!! i mean can u imagine how much trust the rider and horse have for each other and how much training they had done to jump that!!!
Wow I think that's amazing and it's so cool to watch and it's not iligal you can jump what you want x
So amazing! Horseriding 4ever!
The trust of the horse with its owner, and the courage of both of them .
Thank God the horses were OK.
But not sure I condone this.
Amazing
Thats what you call trust between the rider and the horse.
incredible!!!
wow i love the song wat is it called, i love horses they r the best :)
whats that song?
Extraordinario, el mejor
This is proof of how a horse has the greatest respect for his rider and such williness to please. And back then, no one really thought about the crash or wearing a helmet. Never know if they should be called brave or just plain crazy. Maybe 'amazing' is the best way to describe it all!
What's that first height in meters?
what a genuine horse.
If you ever get a horse capable of jumping over the world record, you should get the lightest person with the longest legs who can ride it to that level.
Kings Own should be the record holder, I can't believe a horse could propel itself that high and not walk away without some kind of major acknowledgement! He cleared that jump without knocking over a single one, we missed a champion there people.
There's no animal cruelty in this. If the horse didn't want to jump it then it wouldn't have. These horses have amazing spirit and are legends
@horseponydog just to point a few things out to you, horses who are unbroken have the ability to jump out their fences, regardless of being trained, some have more than others, some having very little, but you can only train something to jump better, not to jump in the first place.
Well, this was in the late 30's/early 40's, so they didn't know as much about the horse's joints and how much something like this could damage them. They knew that it wouldn't be easy, but we know much more now. It's still amazing that, since then, nobody has broken that record, and now we have the pussiance and horse trials and everything...
omg, that horse HAS to be crazy!!
i live in chile, we beat the jumping word record, we export 80% of the copper and wine in the world, we have the biggest pool in the world, we have one of the 7 wonders of the world (easter island), yet if i go ask someone about chile they ask what it is. whatever, im still proud to be chilean
Another reason the the unofficial record doesnt count is because the measure of the jump was not official.. and couldnt be tested to prove it as a world record. besides exageration can also come into play to become famous
ok .. this is real !! i'm from chile, this jump was made here in viña del mar. the rider was Alberto Larragibel, i was lucky and i could met him before he die ! he was military, like my father ! the high, 2, 47 Metres. sorry my english
I agree.. to much for the joints of these beautiful animals
@littlehorsechamp I don't know. How would you get a house to jump?
I feel so bad for those horses.
Although that was incredible, its not fair to the horses.
wow this is so crazy! highest ive jumped is 1.15m an that was a few years ago
this are god riders, I've seen their riding methods, they encourage the use of legs rather than a whip. their horsemanship is all about taking good care and respect for their horses. if that horse hadn't been treated well what so ever, he wouldn't of have cleared that jump. kudos for the rider and horse .
talk about a freaky amount of talent!
In my personal oppinion, I think that Heatherbloom was the highest jumper. In 1902, he jumped 8ft, but he had an unofficial record of 8ft3 in his schooling paddock.
wow that is soo high
OMG that was sooo tall
2.47 THATS CRAZY
p.s. LOVED IT
@Jor1Ds thank u u r amazing lol finally someone tht is smart
cool!
hoooly mother, thats amazing!
song please
probably ... you wouldn't belive how strong and resistent horses are ... they can fall like 10m without suffering any harm
Damn this was published before i was born lmao
WOW AMAZING JUMPS
I see alot of mixed comments... it is in us to compete, its also in horses to be competitive... but I can see where the line is blurring. Horses accept us, let us lead them and will go through fire (literally) when they trust us. That is where the line blurs, its OUR responsibility...just as it always has been...to keep our commitment to our animals (property or family) by keeping them safe and healthy. That is what it boils down to...take this as simply what it is, a reminder.
as I said in my other comment, people push themselves the same amount. They push themselves just as much as these horses do. Don't forget these horses are highly proffesion athletes and love what they do otherwise they would not do it.
my horses love to jump, they go a little bit faster when im inthe jump arena and they prick their ears towards the jump, and you can see in their face how much they enjoy it! now i've only jumped ruby 85cms, but she has the scope to go higher, and i've only jumped dan about 60cms, but once i'm more confident i know i will be able to jump them higher and i KNOW they can jump higher and i KNOW that they love jumping :)
absolutely amazing. those horses have to have big, determined hearts to be able to jump that. what true champions...
Horses don't hate jumping. Most love it if you train them for it. If they hated it, why would they get excited after the first one? Why would they rush into the next one? They enjoy their jobs. If they didn't, we wouldn't ask them to do it.
Jumping is natural to horses. They do it on their own if something is in their way, like deer. At a full gallop, they are actually 'jumping' forward with every stride. Some horses are not built to jump very high or very well, but others take to it like a deer. We had a 13 hand pony mare who would clear a 4'2" fence to get out whenever she wanted. Other examples abound.
This makes me sick to watch, just because of the danger.
But I can appreciate the strength it must have taken that horse.
Nevertheless, if you watch the video, you can see the horse's forelegs bend from the pressure.
Not. Healthy.
But still amazing. =]
A horse would naturally jump that high or as high as possible if it had to escape from danger. But they train their asses off to make sure the horses wont get injured from landing. But there are always accidents and you cant always prevent things like that from happening.
I agree, I don't do jumping at all. My horse does love to jump, but he's extremely fragile therefore I don't jump him. I did know a horse who would jump over jumps riderless because he liked it. This jump was far to high . . . and the riders can't jump that high . . . but I'd like to see them try. I'm not sure wether Chileno died or not, but I've heard that he was perfectly fine . . . but that's hard to believe.
Hay videos donde se ve el salto fue en el tercer salto dónde rompió el récord en viña del mar hay una escultura dedicada a su nombre
Omfg... Those are massive jumps!
8ft 3.5 inches? that is crazy!
If a horse did not want to jump then they would not, unless they were that loyal to the person riding them.
gaaf !! echt hoog!
The horse was 16 years when it jumped. Then it was free without rider until death, at the age of 29.
This even still goes on today. It is not cruel, it is a test of a horses ability and skill.
Every year the horse of the year show has an even called the puissance wall. Search it on here and you will see what I mean
@harrilurvsponies I have a professional horse magazine called 'Your Horse', that clearly states and I quote
"Although horses are good athletes, they're not natural jumpers- this is due to their large heads, heavy guts and the relative rigidity of their spines" If they naturally jump, surely they would jump over the fences to break free from captivity, they don't know that it's their boundry, they they can't jump over, they do it if they need to, not 'for fun'.
Simplemente hermoso 🇨🇱
but that can also happen while the horse is doing dressage, which some people may say is the safest aspect of eventing
the first jump is just crazy omg if i had to jump that i'd have a heart attack
Awesome that these horses could do that!! But i don't think it's very good for it's legs and the crash made me kinda sad...
I dont think its wrong in any way to do something like this, however, i think it must be remembered that horses are like people in that you get some which thrive on adrenaline and new challenges and some who would prefer a quieter life. It is essential to match up both a willing horse and rider before anything like this should be attempted.
i dont want to cause another argument here. i know a lot about horses, and i know this is not good for the horses. but to be fair, all horse jumping runs a risk of injuring the horse or rider, as does horse riding in general. yet, many people, myself included, continue to do it. so i have nothing against anyone who has the skill to be able to jump that high! and to a horse that does most of the work, that is just absoluely amazing!
