  • In this weeks video I walkthrough and do a review of the Dakota Lithium DL+ 135AH battery. I have spent the past half a year putting these batteries through their paces as they run my electronics (2 Humminbird Helix 10's, Mega 360 & Mega Live) and two (2) DL+135's run my 24V Minnkota Ultrex.

Ya I run 2 60ah dakota plus to run my ultrex 80lbs trust and I'm surprised how long they last. I also have a shunt to monitor the 24v circuit so I can keep track of them. Tks jp. Hope to c u soon. Tight lines bud

Should take a look at amped outdoors lithium batteries. Most ice fisherman's used amped outdoors and performs very well and very gd customer service. Also, it's priced cheaper then dakota. If your going for warranty then dakota would be the 1 to go with. Amped outdoors have 5 yrs warranty vs dakota which I believe is 10 yrs warranty. I still choose amped cause they are selling all around my local area(Minnesota) and performs very well in the winter months of ice fishing.
Also, I just subscribed to your channel! Very good information on shimano fishing rods and reels!

I've got 6 golf cart batteries I need to replace. Lithium seems like a pretty good option.

Great video and info. Now that Mercury and Yamaha approves lithiums for cranking. Would you now use a lithium for a starting battery? I am thinking of getting this Dakota 12v 135ah for starting and running 2 12” helix’s with mega live. My motor in a 150hp pro XS. Thanks

I did that last year, the latest DL+ 135 has the new BMS that works with the charging output of the outboards. The original version did not and would cause the motor to shut down at 4000 rpm. Be sure you have the latest model

@@JPDeRoseOutdoors Thanks for the heads up on that new BMS. I wasn’t aware of that. I’ll think on it some more and watch for another sale on Dakotas. I just bought 2 12v 100ah for my trolling motor. Might be simpler to just use a AGM for starting lol. But seems like you are happy with all lithium set up. Thanks JP. Brett

Wondering if it’s ok to leave them alone n the bass boat while it’s stored for winter. I take them out for now as not really sure on the process or if it’s practical at leaving them in and hooked up to to charger for the winter.

If the boat is stored indoors I would be okay with it but I always remove them when stored outside.

So you’re able to use these in a truck ? As a starting battery? Without any special wiring? I have a 2019 ram 2500 6.7 Diesel I would need 2 im willing to buy them if it will work and last

Apparently that’s what they are designed for. Use in automotive and marine applications but refer to the specs to confirm.

Does all these lithium batteries have a build in shut off when the temperature is to cold that it wont charge the battery.

If they don’t have internal heating, yes. This model is built to be charged in cold temperatures
