It worked like a charm. The only difficult part is trying to get the new cable to engage with the motor. Like he said, be patient and keep trying and you will Get it. Side note, when you turn the radio on, use the cable to feel the motor moving and that is where it engages. Then place the cable right where you felt the motor, and turn the radio off and it should catch. No need to open the inside and all of that.
@@EveryBladeOfGrass1 Yup, I was one of those who bent the antenna in the car wash! I wanted a car without any radiofrequency radiation emissions from wi-fi, Bluetooth, etc., and found this sweet low-mileage 2002 Lexus. First time through the car wash and -- oops! If you'd like to know more about the wireless radiation issue, feel free to see my research repository, Understanding EMFs. sites.google.com/site/understandingemfs/massachusetts-emf-bills-2019-20. @@EveryBladeOfGrass1 my 2003 rx300 mast is fully extended when i shut car off with radio on i can hear the motor running but antenna doesn't retract so i believe i have the same issue where can i get a decent aftermarket brand so i can try changing it? Thanks for the GREAT VIDEO!!
I loved your video, but my antenna (2005 Lexus SC430) would not pull out, even with some aggressive pulling! I replaced a friend's antenna (2006 Lexus SC430) with no problems, but mine is more stubborn! Any suggestions besides accessing the antenna motor?
Hi. I have a 2003 SC430. My antenna motor is working. My antenna goes all the way up but not all the way down. (1/2 way down). If I put it all the way up, shut off the power leaving it up, and remove the old antenna and cable do you think it is possible thatinserting a new antenna and cable it will fully retract? OR, do you think there could be a broken piece of cable in the motor assembly, preventing it from fully retracting, and it should be pulled out of the car for inspection? I look forward to your advice. Thanks. David
Unfortunately it is probably a snapped off part of the plastic cable you may have to remove the motor and or housing to get the cable out. It could be something else but I think that is what it is. Good luck!
@@EveryBladeOfGrass1 If I take the old antenna out can I shorten the antenna by cutting the shaft off from the bottom by the number of inches it sticks out of the fender so it would fully retract into the fender? It wouldn't go up as high but that wouldn't bother me. Crazy thought? 🙄🙄
Used for video for a guideline and it’s been helpful! However when I turn the car back on, the whole antenna comes back out. Any tips or advice would be appreciated!!
You could try it but I don’t think you’ll have much luck, the are pretty thin and once bent have a tendency to break if you move it back and forth too much

Thank you so much. Worked great.

Amazon would probably be the cheapest if you’re not going to use an oem part, or eBay
same
So, you didn't need to connect the antenna wire/cable to anything to ensure that it was actually connected to the radio?
You shouldn’t have to. It should work

Probably not, my next step would be to open it up from the inside to get to the motor. ☹️ You may have a broken piece wedged in there. Good luck !!

Yup. Kind of what I thought. Was hoping to avoid that. Thanks for the response.😢😊

Another way to use a flat head screw driver to release the nut
Yup lots of different ways can work

There may be a small piece of the old plastic runner still down in the motor assembly
What do you do when cable is broke off inside the housing when you pull antenna off?
You have to pull the inside panels off and get it out that way
