    This ship is the definition of the following speech: "For too many years, Humanity was on the back foot. Reacting to threats, rather then preventing them. Rest of the galaxy was bigger then us, stronger then us. We were mice hiding in the shadows, hoping that the giants wouldn't see us. No more. Humanity is no longer on the defense. We are the giants now." -Captain Thomas Laskey, UNSC Infinity

      Well the galaxy class wasnt exactly tiny.

    • @jaredevans8263
      @jaredevans8263 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@gordonf5553he's referring to combat capabilities, not size. The galaxy class is large to carry civilians and families, many science labs and diplomatic offices/lounges, and an overabundance of luxuries like zoos. Plus the galaxy's entire spaceframe isn't optimized for combat like the Sovereign's hull

    phaser have 3 millions kilometers range and torpedo have 300 000 km range . at point blank range there is no chance to miss because the torpedo would hit in under 0.0001 second . It going at least 60 000 km/h

      Some of the clips from Star Trek Nemesis show just that. They are fired from the aft of the saucer hull, just above the shuttle bay.

    • @StormyTea
      @StormyTea Před 2 lety +3

      Iirc they would but they were not that common cause it's a brand new class of ship it would take awhile to make alot

    • @jaredevans8263
      @jaredevans8263 Před 11 měsíci +1

      @@StormyTeayeah by the time of the Dominion War, Starfleet only had like 3 Sovereigns in service, and Enterprise-E was tasked to border patrol against incursions/diplomatic crises of other factions bordering Federation space, so Starfleet could really only have around 2 Sovereigns participating in the Dominion War

  • @richardched6085
    @richardched6085 Před 3 lety +9

    The Quantum Torpedo is only worth 2.5 Photon Torpedoes??? Doesn't seem like much of an upgrade especially if Quantum Torpedoes are not as mass producible. Now if they were worth something like 12 Photon Torpedoes each then I could see the appeal.

    • @neolexiousneolexian6079
      @neolexiousneolexian6079 Před 2 lety +3

      It's both more expensive and easier to shoot down than 3 Photon Torpedoes.

    • @Talon1124
      @Talon1124 Před 2 lety +5

      I think, double check this as I'm working from memory, the energy signature has a multiphasic property that lets even a little damage bleed through Borg adaption meaning where a Photon would just fizzle, a Quantum still does damage.
      I believe the Quantum was the basis for thr Transphasics that Admiral Janeway took back to Voyager.

    This iconic Federation starship is even capable of taking on heavily armed/armoured Cylon Basestars. You guys should watch this video of the United Federation of Planets versus the Cylon Empire. Here's the Star Trek vs BSG HD video link: czcams.com/video/9HXz2oOlN0A/video.html

      Oh please a constitution class could obliterate a cylon base star in 10 minutes or less. 1 they have no shields, 2 they have standard modern materials, 3 they only have thermonuclear warheads as armaments. A type 12 phaser array on the sovereign will literally burn through its outer armor, into the reactor core, OUT the other side, and leave nothing in between
