I love Jolly's little power trip when nearly every single person slammed Verlander for Cy Young, then 4 seconds later wanted to switch him to ROTY
this is what happens when you dont read the entire question before answering 😂😂😂
Got they ass
When Justin Verlander works for all 3 for Detroit
Fun fact: Al Alburquerque went 69.2 regular season innings before giving up his first career home run, but gave up a home run to the first postseason batter he faced.
Jolly tossing out hints like mardi gras beads.
Eckersley did win a Cy Young for the A's in 1992
I noticed that too, but I think he misspoke and said “did Eck win ROTY” when he probably means CYA. Eck also won MVP that year if I’m not mistaken
I’m proud of myself for knowing to pick Scherzer for Detroit Cy Young leaving Verlander for ROTY and also getting Devin Williams for ROTY
Jolly pulling out the 'You're locked in rule' that nobody saw coming
3:18 McGwire never won MVP with Oakland though, can't believe you let Jake get away with that.
I was just about to comment that lol
Yeah, I had to look it up, never won one with the Cardinals either. I assumed he had one.
This was bothering me so much lol
True, but Canseco won MVP and McGwire ROY, so it all works out.
Never thought I’d see the day the tigers get some love on this channel
Ikr
Feels good to see
They had so many stacked teams that just couldn't do it.
Glad to see it. Same for my A’s
Fun Fact: It would have been possible to put a reliever in as MVP for any of the three teams, and by extension Cy Young as well. For reference they are Dennis Eckersley for Oakland (1992), Rollie Fingers for Milwaukee (1981), and Willie Hernandez for Detroit (1984).
I really think you need to do a few seconds with the grid on the screen before they start filling it in for those who want to try at home before watching. At least enough for us to pause.
I don't even try to play along, casual fan, but you make a solid point.
Yeah, having it up on screen for at least a few seconds while Jolly finishes the intro would be nice for play alongs
you could do the Tigers one with all pitchers from the 2010s. Verlander won MVP in 2011, Scherzer won the Cy in 2013, and Fulmer got ROY in 2016.
So many people cucked themselves with Verlander at CY lol
I totally forgot Mets prospect Michael Fulmer won a ROTY those were challenging
Dude really went and had an insane rookie year then just fell off harder and harder every season
What are we doing saying Whitaker and Kaline are “crazy pulls” 😭😭
Coastal elitists
None of these guys were even conceived within 10 years of those guy’s playing careers and even though they’re great they’re not really outstanding players in terms of the all time greats
@@kurtwagner350 Whitaker was still playing well into the 1990s and Al Kaline is one of the all time greats in the franchise. They are not "crazy pulls"
@@superdupe8214 Cabrera, Cobb, Verlander and even Trammell would come to mind for most well before Whitaker and Kaline
Al Albuquerque was insane
AlbuRquerque*
It would be interesting to see some unconventional awards like Manager of the Year or Home Run Derby winner. Certainly a challenge but might be do-able with all the knowledge in the office.
Watching that Kenny Lofton short definitely lowered my confidence level in some of their baseball knowledge lol
If "big bird" counts for Mark Fidrych I would have gotten that within 30 seconds
Can’t believe no one said Vide Blue for Cy young
Tejada - Catfish Hunter - Bobby Crosby
Yelich - Burnes - Braun
Cabrera - Scherzer - Verlander
I have no idea why on earth I remembered that Bobby Crosby was a rookie of the year over all those other famous A's
My knowledge of Bobby Crosby winning ROTY finally came in handy! lol
Jolly should’ve given Daulton Eckersly for the Cy Young. He won it in 1992
Just read the new Rickey Henderson biography so I was ready to pull the deep-cut Walt Weiss for ROTY. The book is great by the way!
Was disappointed it took so long for someone to pull Mark Fidrych
I might be the only person here who pulled Ben Grieve for A’s ROTY lol.
I feel the same for Huston Street
Edit: Never mind!
I only know this because it was the only tidbit of information MVP Baseball 2004 had about him so you heard about it every AB.
Carlos Guillen was sick but he was a rookie with the Mariners
Nice Mark Fidrych pull
I was gonna comment that was surprised no Rickey Henderson shouts but until the end, also good shouts with Houston Street and Andrew Bailey
Don’t help them man These guys baseball knowledge is among the best in the entire country and you are giving them the years That’s weak sauce jolly and you know it sir
As a Tigers fan I appreciate the Al Albuquerque pull
And Phil Coke lol
same here caught me so off-guard
I could've sworn there were games where switching was allowed.
I’d have to rewatch these but I don’t think they had locked in the answer prior to the switch in the other games. They would say a name & then before locking it in say they’d which box they were going for.
Top row: Rickey Henderson, Barry Zito, Bobby Crosby.
Middle Row: Christian Yelich, Corbin Burnes, Ryan Braun.
Bottom Row: Miguel Cabrera, Max Scherzer, Justin Verlander.
Lefty Grove-Vida Blue-Walt Weiss
Robin Yount-Rollie Fingers-Ryan Braun
Hal Newhouser-Max Scherzer-Lou Whitaker
That's what I came up with before letting things run a bit. Had the most trouble remembering a Brewers ROTY, looked up Paul Molitor and turned out he came in second to Whitaker.
Giambi, Eckersley, Huston Street
Yelich, Burnes, Braun
Cabrera, Verlander, Fulmer
The A’s have had three ROY winners in this century but all of them are so random: Andrew Bailey, Huston Street and Bobby Crosby
Props for the Fydrich shoutout!
Tejada, Zito, McGwire, Yelich, Burns, Braun, Cabrera, Scherzer, Verlander
When I first saw the board, immediately called Verlander, McClain, Fidrych for the Tigers row
The number of people who didn't say McGwire and Canseco was the most surprising part about this video.
Love me some A’s and Brewers trivia
surprised nobody said Eckersley at all. One of the few A's trivia things I know.
As: Tejada, zito, Houston street
Brewers: yelich, burnes, Braun
Tigers: miggy, scherzer, verlander
11:30 caught me off-guard as a Tigers fan and the Phil Coke pull right after it
Mark Fidrych is a great pull. The Bird was the word. There is a Yankees game in the middle of the summer in a meaningless game, where the Fidrych party looked like game 7 of the world series. It's worth checking out. I think he's still the only pitcher to ever be on the cover of the Rolling Stone.
Rickey, Zito, McGwire
Yelich, Burnes, Braun
Miggy, Scherzer, Verlander
A’s: Canseco, Zito, Street
Brewers: Yelich, Burnes, Braun
Tigers: Cabrera, Verlander, Fulmer.
The A’s and Tigers rookies I made tougher on myself than I should have 😅
Fun fact: Me. Fulmer was a Met who became a Tiger (along with Luis Cessa or Yankee Fan Fame) for.....Yoenis Céspedes.
No one said the great Walt Weiss for A's ROY in 88'. I'm flabbergasted
I’m really surprised as Yankees fans nobody said Giambi for A’s MVP
Same
The fuzzy shoutout🤣🤣
I was surprised not to hear jack Morris
I’ve got SS Pat Listach for
Milwaukee ROTY
& McGwire was My immediate ROTY with 49HR’s when Jimmy was struggling I was going
“ McGWIRE BRO , 49HR’s “ 😁
I should have trusted My spellings too
As: Tejada, Zito, Canseco
Brewers: Yount, Fingers, Braun
Tigers: Miggy, Scherzer, Verlander
Not me immediately thinking of Ben Grieve for Oakland ROTY 😂
Thought I'd throw some love to Houston street for ROTY. Loved him growing up
Only 6/9, ROTY was a huge struggle for me
OAK-MVP: Jose Canseco
MIL-MVP: Christian Yelich
DET-MVP: Miguel Cabrera
OAK-CY: Barry Zito
MIL-CY: Corbin Burnes
DET-CY: Max Scherzer
OAK-ROTY: N/A
MIL-ROTY: N/A
DET-ROTY: N/A
Canseco/Zito/McGwire
Yount/Burnes/Pat Listach
Verlander/Willie Hernandez/Fidrych
Took me about 30 seconds
Oh, man. Brewers AND Tigers in the same video.
Time for a Fun Fact!
Everyone knows about the legendary 1982 Brewers, right? Harvey's Wallbangers?
Fun Fact: 30 years before he lead a team of Wallbangers to the World Series, Harvey Kuehn won the ROY...
...WITH THE TIGERS.
Max Mannis supercut when?
Somehow I pulled Mark Fidrych out of my ass for Detroit when I was born 21 years after he won. So glad I wasn't the only one to get him
Im screaming Bobby Crosby at my phone this whole video
How can you not like Dalton!!
Giambi, Barry Zito, McGwire
Yeli, Burnes, Williams
Cabrera, Justin Verlander, Michael Fulmer
Time: 2:14
Tejada - Zito - Mcgwire
Yelich - Burnes - Williams
Cabrera - Verlander - Fulmer
You can fill all nine squares in only FOUR players.
Canseco-Fingers-Canseco
Braun-Fingers-Braun
Verlander-Verlander-Verlander
Crazy that Verlander won all 3 with the tigers
I know its in the thumbnail bit would be nice if you showed the empty board for a sec before jumping right into the answers so we can pause and play. love the vids tho
Thank god they finally did an episode with Detroit. Miggy, JV, Fulmer ezpz. Also, who tf calls him "Miggy Cabs"?
my own grid
OAK+MVP = Rickey Henderson
OAK+CY = Vida Blue
OAK+ROY = Mark McGwire
MIL+MVP = Christian Yelich
MIL+CY = Corbin Burnes
MIL+ROY = Ryan Braun
DET+MVP = Miguel Cabrera
DET+CY = Max Scherzer
DET+ROY = Justin Verlander
A's: MVP Miguel Tejada Cy Young: Barry Zito ROY: Bobby Crosby
Brewers: MVP Christian Yelich Cy Young: Corbin Burnes ROY: Ryan Braun
Tigers: MVP Miguel Cabrera, Cy Young Max Scherzer, ROY Justin Verlander
Not being to switch was never a rule. I know people have switched
You guys should post the answers in the description, I want to play this with my dad.
Random choices:
Mil ROY Pat Listach
Det Cy Young Willie Guiliermo Hernandez
I had:
Henderson-Zito-Canseco
Yelli-Burnes-Braun
Miggy-Scherzer-Verlander
I had to switch Verlander to RotY because for the life of me I couldn't think of another
A's ROTY in 09 is Andrew bailey
Just now watching this and I don't know why in the deepest part of my mind I was screaming Bobby Crosby for A's Rookie of the Year.
oakland : donaldson (does that count even tho he won it in TOR ? if not then canseco), zito, ooh beats me
milwaukee : yelich, burnes, braun
detroit : cabrera, scherzer, verlander
^damn I completely forgot mcgwire won ROY. that was well before I was born haha
You should do a grid where one of the answers could be the 3 guys at Jomboy
I’m going old school for Detroit Cy Young - Denny McLain.
*applause* 31 wins in 1968!
I might be the only person that immediately went Pat Listach for Brewers ROTY
Another idea could be something like who has thrown a no hitter for a team, or has hit 50 home runs in a season or 40 stolen bases for a team instead of just awards.
I know Jolly be shopping at Target cause that’s the second time he’s worn something I have in my closet
OAK: MVP: Reggie Jackson, CYA: Catfish Hunter, ROTY: Mark McGwire. MIL: MVP: Robin Yount, CYA: Rollie Fingers, ROTY: Ryan Braun. MVP: Hank Greenberg, CYA: Max Scherzer, ROTY: Justin Verlander. I would love to be apart of 1 of these and/or ref guess 1 time
Going all the way back to the 1940s with Greenberg!
*MOST OLD-SCHOOL PULL AWARD*
@@roygoodhand1301 well I am also frum Jew but that too
McGwire, Braun, and Fidrych all seem like automatic picks for ROY.
Only thing I'd like is if you could give us the sheet like 5 seconds before they start answering so I can try on my own.
Tejada, Zito (same year), McGwire, Yelich, Burnes, Braun, Cabrera, Scherzer, Verlander ez
eckersley also won cy young with oakland
For some reason I’ll just always know that Michael Fulmer won rookie of the year
Funny to think Allen Trammell has more notoriety than Lou Whittaker
Giambi, Zito, Street, Yelich, Burnes, Braun, Miggy, Scherzer, Verlander 1 minute, 40 seconds
Eckersley, Catfish Hunter, ?
Yelich, Burnes, Braun
Cabrera, Verlander, ?
Fun fact: McGwire never actually won MVP
Surprised no one said Donaldson
McGwire never won MVP but he gave it to Jake lol
Surprised people didn't remember Fulmer beating out Gary Sanchez (because he didn't play enough games even though he went crazy)
Mark Fidrych!
I completed this grid in 53 seconds
Michael Fulmer baby!
The amount of people who whiffed on verlander ROY is incredible to watch
Jolly...dude...Eckersley was Cy Young AND MVP in 1992
Verlander pulled the feat off as well, 19 years later in 2011.
A's MVP Tejada CY Zito ROY Mcgwire
Brewers MVP Yelich CY Burnes ROY Braun
Tigers MVP Cabrera CY Verlander ROY couldnt get
