    Such a good idea, adding the name / topic in the corner! I use a ring binder to be able to organize things by topic and add / subtract as I go, but that trick would work great with standard notebooks!

    Every single tarot journal I've seen is exquisitely designed. Like flawless. The paintings, doodles, drawings etc. It makes it really hard for people like me who rather write than draw. Seeing your flip through has been incredibly helpful for me. Seeing someone else's style that relates to my own, it's great. Thank you!

  • @butterflymagicwithhottea9291

    I am so relieved that you said you don't have instant recall despite all of the study. That is exactly how I feel. Despite so much reading, writing and study I just can't recall the meanings verbatim or even close. I wonder if I am inadequate at times even though I know I am ok. Thank you for posting this lovely video.

    • @ultravioletpisces3666
      @ultravioletpisces3666 Před 5 lety

      "Card meanings" are just a starting place. They are great for studying, but when reading, just let them speak to you. And it's OK to be quiet and not immediately spit out words... Just let the card sit with you for a minute until the message (not meanings, but messages) come to you

  • @aprilmatilda7743

    I LOVE how you explain how the definitions evolve and change because it's so true, I never articulated that concept in my mind that way. It seems I'm on this never ending quest to pin down a meaning, but then BOOM it changes with the flashes of insight I get. SO TRUE!!!

    Love, love, love this video. I've studied and soaked up and used journals for my tarot journey for years and I love to listen to someone with such a passion for continuously learning and absorbing more. I've had those times surrounded by notebooks and decks and that is heaven to me. You just mentioned counting out the pages, I don't know how many times I've been at Barnes & Nobles counting out pages to make sure I would have enough for each card. The disc system has made journaling much easier for me but I still love the old school notebooks. You described so well how it all meshes together and constantly expands and changes. 💜

    I was watching a video where the reader said "the quitrent doesn't need or want to know everything you know about the card. They just need to know what is relevant for them." I found this quite brilliant. I always feel like I "don't know enough" about a card, but sometimes in a reading, I can just talk about the elemental energy of a card or the number energy, or just one small aspect and its more than enough for the person. It's just what they need. I study and study, don't get me wrong, but then a reading is not the place to show off all your brilliant study... It's about the client and what they need to hear. Remembering that when doing a reading actually takes a lot of pressure off to remember. Even when reading for self- I think a reading is maybe and 2% about "card meaning" and much more about what the cards are *saying*
    Reading just for card meaning can give a very static cut and paste reading.
    This is not really in response to the video itself so much (great video) but to some of the viewers, to point out that you don't have to know all the tarot meanings by heart to be a good reader. (As you mentioned the cards mean something new every time.)
    It takes a while to go beyond the card meanings, but they are really just a starting point.

    I've been a huge fan of keeping journals for a very long time (I won't say how long). I do know that I collect information as well as writing out my thoughts. What I have found most useful for me is to simply use my computer and make sure that I back everything up. It's much easier for me to find stuff that I want and need hat way. I do agree with you though, studying is important (sorry my Gemini is showing). I also like to add artwork to my pages as well.

    I'm the same as you, people sometimes look at me like I'm batshit crazy when I say I write things over and over and over to learn them. I summarize a little everytime I rewrite (depending on what it is, if it was college type stuff I'd summarize it, but when it comes to tarot I wouldn't because I don't want to lose any thoughts or blurbs that might be important). I get you 100% on that. It's like it goes from my wrist into my memory, like there's a direct stream between the two.

My ex husband tossed them when we divorced. :( I no longer keep tarot journals per se, most of my writing is online now so I guess my blogs are kind of my journals, plus I've been working on an ebook where I'm getting all my tarot notes out of my head and into a coherent collection. lol, That may take the rest of my life. Amazing work! Congratulations! Consistence and perseverence..... I, too, study always, each and every day, but at a certain point I wrote everything in computer and start to organize it... of course, writing also by hand (is important!), but I can not organize it when writing by hand (I really don't know why, since I am used to work with all kind of binders and discbounds and rings and all styles of tabs and dividers and all organizational things... but, as you say too, when I work tarot, everything tend to be intuitive... till it clicks everything in place (this is the incubation phase of the learning process). - to be short: WHEN will you publish your experience? :) I would be delighted to see it. - and: wonderful artwork too, your images in the BoS (even if it is copied... the ideas and structuring is yours). - Thanks for sharing!

    First of all, I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!!! You're so fun and animated and you can really feel your energy and passion for all things Tarot and Pagan 😍 I am relatively new to Tarot, and I truly admire your deep understanding and relationship with the cards! Do you have any recommendations for books and websites for beginners to get some good card interpretations? Thank you so much! Keep up the amazing work! Fave channel😚

    I'm with you, I way prefer premade journals to binders. I use binders for things like my Leonie Dawson workbook and any e-courses I do, but when it comes to journals it has to be hard covered, and I prefer rings to bound.

    • @sacredseed1295
      @sacredseed1295  Před 8 lety

      right! I wonder if its, as pagans, we're drawn to things that feel old? and binders feel so new world, u know? btw I remember ur video about that shining year journal u have, I had never heard if it before, but I thought it was just so cool! thanks so much xoxo

      Leonie's workbooks are huge. Kelly-Ann uses them too. Www.leoniedawson.com They are only $10 for the e-version, but more for printed.

      Oh forgot to say that yes, i agree, we pagans seem to be drawn to oldish looking things a lot. Did you see HerSpeak's video on books of shadows and how we just need to work in them?? If you havent you should watch it. Its very concise.

    • @sacredseed1295
      @sacredseed1295  Před 8 lety

      actually I think I got them from a borders book store, before they all closed, I haven't stumbled across any since. I have used, I think they're called accounting books? maybe for journals too. they look like cool books, a little taller than these, and u can find them at office max and staples I think. good luck. if u come across them somewhere else, let me know.. cuz I'd love to get more lol. xo
