First rule, never identify members by hair color. They change their hair colors all the time. I would recommend the video An introduction to the 7 members of BTS (2021 update) by Ida S. Also keep in mind BTS is not under YG entertainment, they are under Bighit entertainment/HYBE labels. And different companies have different rules and training systems. Black Swan is about BTS fear of losing their passion and love for music. The video was filmed at the Los Angeles Theater.

This song represents the group's 'shadow', a person's deeper darkest most inner thoughts. Their shadow is essentially that one day they will not love the craft on making music anymore.
Now YG is not like BTS's company at all. While BTS did start at a young age BTS have had freedom all throughout their career. They didn't follow that horrible idol trainee system like YG and SM.

They use their platform to spread self love , self appreciation , and about moving on . From their debut in 2013 until now each album is like a continuation to the former , each album has it’s own emotions and you can see how the way of thinking changes with each album depending on the age , mind and the way you live each phase of your life .

  • @Mark-vj7zd
    @Mark-vj7zd Před 2 lety +51

Actually, ON and Black Swan are very closely related in that they both draw on the Jungian concept of Shadow being the darker parts of ourselves which we generally hide from the world. In ON they are choosing to accept their shadow selves in order to become whole.
The shadows in Black Swan are the doubts and anxieties of an artist wondering whether they’re losing their love of their art - their ‘first death’, which comes from a Martha Graham quote, “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful”. If you watch for the colour switches, to begin with they’re in black (shadowed) when off-stage and in mostly white with hints of black when dancing on-stage… but by the end of the video they’re in black on-stage (fully shadowed).

I can assure you that after you watch some documentaries about BTS, you will feel differently about them and appreciate them even more. YG has been a big & well known music company in South Korea so the artists under their label usually get a lot more advantage over the small music companies such as Big Hit Entertainment (which BTS is under back then, now it’s called Hype). BTS has to grind their way up from the bottom… now soaring to the top! It is very impressive. Please don’t misunderstand… I don’t mean to say the trainees from bigger music companies don’t work hard, they are hard working & talented and all, but they also get more marketing, existing fanbase, treatment & perks as well.
I hope you keep digging into BTS’ music & message and BTS’ member as individuals 💜

The reason JIMIN has that blueish hair in ON and BLACK SWAN is because both videos were shot in the same week in LA ;-). ARMY use their hair colors as timestamps to identify when which video/photo/interview were shot including the candid photos or selfies which they post randomly. JIMIN only trained for 9 months before debut. He did not even received vocal training. He almost did not debut because of his short training period. But today JIMIN has been voted King of Kpop in a global poll three years in a row. JIMIN has also sat at #1 on the monthly Male Idols Brand Reputation Index for every consecutive months for almost three years and has the most number at #1s (non-consecutive) for the Male+Female Idols combined ranking.

bts aren’t “kpop” in the traditional sense. they have far exceeded the realms of kpop and are just korean artists who explore multiple genres and concepts. kpop artists tend to be groomed to fit a certain criteria by their company and many are not actually involved in the creative processes- that’s fine if that’s what they want. however, with bts, from the get-go their company has allowed them to be free with their expression and musicality. they write, compose and produce their own music and the topics explored in many of these lyrics are based upon many things such as philosophy, art, social issues, mental health etc. they are one of a kind when it comes to what they can explore in their music.

Big Hit was a small company unlike YG which was one of the leading companies in South Korea. So comparatively they didn’t have as many resources in terms of training recruits and was even at the brink of bankruptcy at one point. Now because of BTS it’s the biggest company in SK. This is RnB. This song like black swan focuses on what happens when the music stops. The shadows actually represent a theme going through their albums on the Map of the Soul based on Carl Jung theories of the persona, ego, and shadow. The map of the soul 7 focuses on the shadow and Persona.
There is also a ON mv which goes deeper because it's an end to an era. It's epic and deep. The kinetic manifesto film is called that because of the dancing. The mv also has that epic dance break. It presents a resolution and is epic. There is a ballet version to black swan as well.

The dude with the blue hair is Jimin, he has a dance background, studying hip hop and popping/locking with Just Dance Academy in middle school, and contemporary dance at Busan High School of Arts, before transferring to Korean High School of Arts in Seoul when he became a trainee at 16 - less than a year before debut. He is the only one with training in contemporary dance, Hobi is also a trained dancer (not contemporary), and the rest started dance training only after becoming trainees at Big Hit. It’s amazing how good they have all become.
Their hair changes so often, even during an “era” it can change, so you can’t rely on it - but the more you watch, the more familiar their faces become - it doesn’t take very long - most Army can recognise them by their speaking and singing voices, by the way they move, by their laugh, by random body parts (hands, nose, back of the head, even shoes/feet😂)…🤷‍♂️ We have all watched hundreds of hours of content over the years - I have been Army since 2015, and I don’t want to think of how much time I have spent watching and listening to BTS 😁🙈

And when you get to know them, their names, their personalities, their talent...you will find the best thing about them is they are nice, loving, caring, respectful, positive thinking, and classy human beings! No egos involved. And yes, they trained together, all lived in the same apartment, 1 bedroom with many bunk beds, 1 bathroom, and a teeny tiny kitchen. Now they are all multi millionaires and still humble. They were told they wouldn't last...wouldn't make it...bullied...but guess what. They made it!!! I think you guys would enjoy "Not Today" MV. Lots of good recommendations for getting to know them on your "ON" reaction. Don't try to tell them apart by their hair colour...they change it like they change their underwear. ON and Black Swan were filmed in the same time period so their hair is the same, but usually it's always changing. Don't worry...we all say the exact same thing at the beginning "How did it take me these long to discover this amazingly talented group?" The lyrics of the song are about their fear of losing their passion for what they do. The dancer that is doing some of the solo work in this video (Jimin) is trained in contemporary dance as well as a couple of martial arts. They all have an unbelievable resume of diverse talents. They definitely have a strong brotherhood. They are incredibly humble and build each other up constantly. I can't wait for you to get to know them more. You can't go by hair, changes constantly. Best dance break for me is Dynamite performance from the MMA (Melon Music Awards) 2020. It's epic. Referencing gymnastics you should check out one of their earliest music videos (We Are Bulletproof Pt.2) J-Hope's dancing, Jimin's gymnastics and Jungkook's hat trick....

One thing that got me hooked on BTS is trying to understand the message that they are trying to say to their fans. Their old videos have a storyline that you can follow and analyze as you listen and watch every MV from 2013 to 2017/2018. Then when they started their LOVE MYSELF CAMPAIGN they switched it up to sharing inspirational messages and advice in their lyrics so it is really awesome. A lot of their fans have posted lyric videos in different language and also explanation videos about their songs and MV , that shows how global they are.

You guys might actually appreciate them even more if you paid more attention to what their lyrics say. They are phenomenal performers, but what really sets BTS apart and above other groups is what they rap and sing about. Their music isn’t superficial, its meaningful and raw. They are the biggest group in the world for a reason. They are not afraid to talk about social injustice, prejudice, discrimination, ….their discography is so versatile. They are simply amazing artist and humans.

One tip to understanding the Lyrics to BTS is RM is fluent in English, Japanese and Korean, he uses his ability and understanding of languages interchangeably. This wordplay gives depth of meaning. They all have become experts in this. The flow between languages and words is unmatched. It is fascinating. There can be many layers of interpretation in any given song. I would suggest On Kinetic Manifesto. Also can you make the square with their video a little bigger it’s hard to see, please 💜

Most of their Korean songs have messages and deeper meaning. BTS became popular in the first place at least partly because they had something to say and it resonated with audiences, even when we had to go hunt the translations because subtitles weren't really a thing yet. It was never just because their songs were catchy. They were a lot more than that. (I'm ARMY since the beginning.)

I love your reaction to this. "Black Swan" dives deep into the group's fears as artists, like their fear of losing their passion for music. BTS are really versatile, and they're on a genre of their own. I think you're ready to watch some classic BTS. Please watch BTS's (방탄소년단) 'Not Today'. RM (leader, rapper) said "The lyrics of "Not Today" speak of overcoming obstacles and keep fighting, while instilling hope in oneself. I wrote the lyrics for BTS so we do not stay silent against social issues and injustice and continue to solve them. We talk about social issues, read books and meet with experts and ponder together. We still have a long way to go, but we will think hard and embrace criticism."

Can’t wait for you guys to react to more content of BTS and not just their music.
Black swan it’s a masterpiece, I remember when it first came out as Orchestra version and was a film video. Everyone was shook because in kpop we have never seen that, it was mesmerizing.
BTS members are not under YG entertainment (thank GOD) big hit /HYBE give their artist a lot of freedom for them to be the most natural and sincere in their music. They allowed them to participate in every way possible.
BTS is one of the groups with a lot of content that you feel you’ll never stop watching. They have docu series, documentary’s /Movies, Variety shows…
Variety shows: Run BTS, Bon Voyage, BTS in the soop.
    Docu-serie: Burn the Stage
Movies: Burn the Stage, Bring the soul, Break the Silence
For you to know the members names I’ll recommend:
-The most beautiful life goes on 2021 update by The Asian Theory.
-The rise of Bangtan (this is a documentary made by an army, it’s very very accurate and shows a lot of behind the scenes, the struggles they have, how they produce their music, how they really feel, etc etc etc.
BTS has a storyline call BU(BTS universe) which it’s connected in a lot of Music Videos. For this I recommend
-BTS crash course 2020 , and obviously to watch their music videos in order.

You should really react to their performance of this song from their performance at the mama 2020. It’s absolutely beautiful!! Suga is missing though due to shoulder surgery but it’s still so very well performed. And if you notice in all their performances in that video there’s a spot missing in their choreography, that’s where Suga should’ve been. They literally left a room there for him. I absolutely love that they did that.

This song is a lot deeper indeed, but don't worry about not catching all the lyrics on the first listen, it's normal!
Black Swan is about their fear of losing their passion for music, and how it would feel like a part of them died if that were to ever happen. It's inspired by a quote by a very famous dancer called Martha Graham: "A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is more painful"
It's great that you're willing to go back and watch it again, you'll definitely get a lot more meaning if you focus on the lyrics!
