Steve Miller's Godfather was no less than the legendary Les Paul himself. Steve's dad and Les were close friends for years. Steve's parents were the best man and matron of honor when Les married Mary Ford in 1949.
I installed a radar on Steve Miller's boat years ago. The name on the boat was Abracadabra ❤
Fun Fact: Eminem interpolated "Abracadabra" on his 2024 hit "Houdini," incorporating the magic theme and the hook. Miller, who wasn't happy when The Geto Boys sampled his song "The Joker" in 1989, was happy to license "Abracadabra" to Eminem, calling the rapper "one of those timeless originators."

You need to do “Rock’n Me” to complete the sex, drugs, and rock n’ roll… although it’s pretty much sex too.

Good choice right there. Another from the same album is The Window. Those two songs are some of his best work in my opinion.
Sounds like the next Steve Miller you're looking for might be his single 'Rock Love'. Not one of his biggest hits, but it's a nice little uptempo rocker about Rock&Roll.

Steve Miller did a lot of cool stuff from Living in the USA to Space Cowboy to Take the Money and Run. If you want to hear him being really trippy listen to Fly Like an Eagle live from the Midnight Special. That is really cool.

This was a favorite of my dads, often played in the car! I remember freaking out when I heard it in the new Eminem song haha, don't think it would have been totally dad's thing but he would appreciate it for sure!
They’re still touring and put in a great show. They play Wolftrap near DC every year.

His name is Steve Miller…his band was every one he hired to go in the studio with him….different people…for different albums…Boz Scaggs was in the Steve Miller Band in the late 60s and early 70s…Living in the USA days.

Got lots of p.... want to clubs just to 'be seen', but, I was into cars and hatd rock, so I grew out of the 'glam' scene, but ,, music is still in my soul !!! 60s, 70s, and 80s,, the best music. 🤘🤘🤘

Lol...for some reason when I was a kid I had the 45 record to this song. Heard it a zillion times. Thank gawd Eminem made it way cooler than it was. And you know the Steve Miller just got rich. Eminem takes care of anybody he mentions or samples. Like "J.J. Fad" got paid when he referenced them in Rap God and use their fast rap style from the end part of their song Super Sonic...

Not hating on Eminem, but this is infinitely better than the song he sampled it in. Music was just better in the 80s.
