@WelshSmeg If Mark is being paid by the company to promote the game (and there's nothing wrong with that) it would be pretty stupid for him to make negative comments about it.

So happy you finally got sponsored by a great game that actually cares about reslism! Yes my man Mark Felton!
@WelshSmeg There isn't any Russian bias, Germany has always and always will be a much more competitive nation. The only exception to this rule was the Ka-50 of which has since been nerfed beyond belief.

I doubt that will be happening now. MFP is now sponsored by WOT. This means they own him. Sad but true. MFP will now only be producing content that promotes the Russian owned WOT games platform. Expect plenty of videos about tanks but far less real history. What history you do get will be slanted from a Russian perspective or will consist of cherry picked tank battles selected and tailored to support online , games related, discussions . In other words , MFP videos will , from now on , be designed to serve as ''source'' historical material for the WOT online games community. So, I hope I'm wrong, but I think you can forget about a video about hospital ships..
You mean WT? I find Gaijin a tiny bit more respectable than wargaming, I don't think they are going to force MFP to only represent them unless he chooses to do it for the extra cash, which I wouldn't blame him for in a time like this.

That was an interesting tidbit of little known history. Politics makes strange bedfellows as the old saying goes.
Before Hitler's ascendancy, the communist party was very popular in Germany. The USSR hoped aiding them in rearmament might endear the Germans toward the Soviet sphere.

According to Douglas Dildy's book "Denmark and Norway 1940" (in the Osprey campaign series) the NbFz B was knocked out in the battle of Kvam on 15th April 1940. Not by a Boys rifle - but by a 25mm Hotchkiss anti-tank gun used by the 1st Bn Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. There is a striking painting of the event by John White to illustrate the full story.
I always watch when I see a new episode out. They're super good!
I actually love the Nb.Fz. (as it is identified in a match.) Its got a reliable speed, and some extra crew in spare turrets is always nice. But when you actually bind your 75mm and 37mm cannons to different buttons, you can do so much. Its an early game killing machine! Just uh... don't get hit.

Got one for you Mark.. The Unsinkable FDR. on his way to Yalta onboard the USS Iowa, an escorting DD carried out a torpedo exercise using the battleship as a ‘target’. Only problem was, they accidentally launched a live torpedo! And because of radio silence, they hesitated to call the Iowa until the last minute, forcing fierce evasive maneuvers to escape the torpedo. Funny thing was, before this happened the DD collided with another ship while departing Norfolk, and accidentally shot of depth charges during the convoy to protect FDR.
Dr. Felton, fantastic video as usual! Your mini docs are always visually stimulating with plenty of film footage and photographs to keep them engaging. The real kicker, however, is the smooth and precise narration which really makes all the difference in a high-quality video. Keep up the good work!

Americans sees a KWagen: It’s a tiger!
Jeffro 2000 It went over your head, but the joke is a reference to how most GI’s on the Western Front from Italy to Germany mistakenly referred to most German tanks they faced to be Tigers, despite them usually being Panzer IV’s or SPG’s after some research. Contrary to public knowledge, US troops rarely faced Tiger tanks in Normandy and the reason for the misinformation is due to that common problem in the GI’s.
Grow up you child. All you have ever done is play war online, but you think that gives you the right to crack jokes at the expense of your grandfathers generation who fought for real ? Easy for you to crack a joke, right ?! I doubt you would have done any better .

If you read Guderians book, he recalls an interesting story before the war, when Soviet union and Germany had a deal by which each country would grant the other complete overview of their tanks. When Germany showed the Soviet union the Panzer IV as their biggest tank at that time, the Soviets went home angry thinking that Germany is hiding heavy tanks from them, since theyve already been developing heavy tank(T-34), and were sure, that the germans did the same.

The tiger tanks dad you say Mr Felton? Next you'll be saying his grandson was a Leopard ...oppss he was 😮
No he was not. The Leopard is a tank that was designed to be fast above everything else.
Nope, the Leopard 1 is the son of the Panther. The Leo 2 is the by-blow of the MBT70 and a Westwall Bunker
Yep, though the various British Marks like I, II, III, IV... Were much bigger than the interwar and early war designs...🤔 though I would say that all tanks are more descended from the Renault due to rotating turret.

Ooe more thing Mark: The only things that remain of these tanks are a small number of parts from the running gear and idler assembly at Gudbrandsdal Krigsminnesamling (Gudbrand Valley War Memorial collection) in Norway. After the tank was knocked out in Kvam, there were no vehicle big enough nearby that could push it of the road, so the germans had to blow it up to continue thir advance.

@Johan Jacobs watch the spit_flyer video about unbalanced T2 MITSUBISHI, it's too fast
Johan Jacobs don’t forget when the devs said it’s not there problem for fixing the game and it’s our job to do it. War thunder used to be a fun and good game until the modern community kicked in and bullied gaijin to add the abrams tank and other modern stuff. Anyone who likes ww2 is bullied from the modern community because they have a different interest.
Fun fact : the Neubaufahrzeug was the reason the soviets developed the ZiS 2 AT gun, through basing on their KV tank series.
However, the gun was scraped in 1942 since shells goes through panzers without damaging them and replaced by the ZiS 3, but still ready for production in case sturdier tanks will appear ... which happens in 1943 when Tigers and Panthers show up in the battlefield.
I knew this tank existed but all the info was extremely obscure. Thanks for making this video, Mark!

If you look on the side of the french you will see a radiator vent on the side in the tack....this was the weak point....the shell of an antytank gun easyli penetrated the engine compartement and bounced inside the ammo storage...

Gun mantlet was 70mm. thick on the armoured Neubaufahrzeug.
The Tiger's 88mm. L.56 KwK.36 was originally designed to fit this tank's turret.
The one perforated by the Boys anti-tank rifle suffered a minor internal fire which was later extinguished, but not before it had damaged enough of the tank to immobilise it.
Another armoured version was hit and perforated by several hits from a British crewed Hotchkiss 25mm. anti tank gun from an ambush position defending a Norwegian village, causing the tank to catch fire and burn out. There were no crew casualties.
The third armoured version was stuck in swampy terrain in what was no mans land during an attack. During the night German sappers snuck up and blew the tank up to prevent enemy capture.
A replacement unarmoured version (made of steel) was set on fire and destroyed by Norwegian troops using Molotov cocktail during street fighting. It was burnt out.
These fates are documented in official German reports.

Interesting video n info about the beginnings of the Nazi development of war tanks. Through cooperation with Soviet Union, they developed the early tanks. The irony for the Soviet Union, it came back to "bite them in the butt" because the Nazi's used that technology to invade their country ! No honor amongst dictators. Kudos for your video.
Keeping in mind that when the Germans invaded with Pz IIIs and Pz IVs the Russians had T 34s and KV 1s. Granted their tactics were rubbish, but it's not like they got nothing out of the co-operation.
I see a lot of comments bemoaning the fact that so many tanks were scrapped. Like many others I wish there were surviving examples, but at the time they were just excess military hardware, no use to the allies but potentially useful to hostiles, so taking them out of circulation was logical and necessary.
The alternative would be to keep every peice of weaponry ever made in case it's interesting to someone in the future, which is clearly nonsense.
After the German invasion of Czechoslovakia and capturing Skoda factories which were producing tanks and other military vehicles, Germany benefits a lot from Czech design. Even VW Beatle was not purely German design and benefits a lot from Czechoslovakian Tatra.
Again a very interesting film by Mark Felton. Thanks!
