Not sure, just picking human aspirants compatible with the gene-process is already hard. I'm not sure a mutant or abhuman would survive it.
I could imagine a chapter with a recruitment planet where a stable ogryn population co-exists with the baseline human recruitment pool. Ogryn chapter serfs, maybe?
Imagine an ogryn psyker who didny realize that he was a psyker but his powers went off to reflect his emotions so hed be mega charming when he wanted to impress and enemies would notice shit hitting the fan when he was going against them so like weapon jams and vehicle's crashing on them as the ogryn protected his regiment

Could add a Bone 'Ead for more suiting intelligence, or a Bulgryn for a total contrast, and to fill in the Meat-Shield role.

I do find it odd that they are stupid. After all, humanity faced similar situations and still brought forth generally intelligent people throughout times of hardship. It would be interesting to see what would happen if a hundred randomly chosen ogryn was taught and brought up in an academic environment.

Yeah it is called Earth where people play 40k.

Not quite. Theyre bigger with more muscle and denser bones so it does make them a little harder to get at anything vital. But sever an artery or stab an important organ and they’ll still go down like a normal human while a sm will just walk it off.

But I remember watching a documentation about evolution and they said, that on an earth with higher gravity humans would have developed stronger muscles and bones but would be much smaller and more like dwarfs...so I think the Ogryn can't be shaped by evolution but only genetic engineering instead.
