"3rd person doesn't make this a milsim." - If you're coming from Arma 3, or Arma in general, you don't make these comments and if you do, then you know better... Yes Arma Reforger has 3rd person, yes it can be absolute cancer, yes I prefer 1st person over 3rd and if it were up to me, I'd remove it completely from the game, and so would the devs (if it were up to them. they've said it themselves.) But having 3rd person doesn't take away from the gameplay experience at all. If you don't like it, there's a slew of 1st person only servers to choose from, DarkGru server 3/4 included. 2. "Squad is better than this game." - Comparing a more restricted/linear game like Squad to a more free flowing/sandbox such as Arma is ludicrous. Squad is a phenomenal game with some dope mechanics, Arma strives and has always striven to be more realistic but also open and, again, free flowing, with tools like Game Master/Enfusion Editor in Reforger and Eden Editor/Zeus in Arma 3 to make your own gameplay experience. Most of the content on Reforger is community made: Conflict scenarios, Combat Mission Scenarios, Maps, equipment mods, vehicle mods, etc. As for direct gameplay comparisons, I won't lie Squad has better hit registration and overall vehicle gameplay, and better system for forced teamwork but Reforger, if you're able to actually play for more than an hour without rage quitting over something insignificant like disconnects, scratches an itch unlike any other. It is so fucking addicting. 3. "The graphics suck." - The amount of rampant drugs one has to be ingesting to say this is insane. Reforger compared to literally any game Bohemia has made, is the most graphically appealing milsim I've played in a long time. I could walk around on a solo patrol for HOURS and just gaze. Night time in Reforger is also really pretty too. Then you remember that this game was made for both console and pc. Graphics vary by player/system and render distance!!! I don't have an amazing system but it's pretty good, (3060ti, 5800X3D, 32GB DDR4) and I'm able to run at high graphics, 70-80 fps when I'm not recording. I know there's a guy with a 4080ti that murders this game at like 100-140 frames on ultra 4k. If ya don't want to, you don't have to buy the game, I'm not on my hands and knees here lol. But a lot more of y'all gotta give this bitch a shot. Server issues should be eradicated in the next major update, and the first iteration of AI driving should be coming in that update also. A lot of shit planned for this year it's gonna be hype.
This game are the most arcady ARMA version i ever seen... its like a ARMA DAYZ. Everyone use 2 primary weapons and rush in the enemy... sad to see what arma have became
Squad is definitely not better which is evident as we see more and more Squad clan tags entering Reforger servers. The downside is they do bring that sort of meta shooter mentality with them and will yell at you on comms to all spawn on them and do what they are doing. They seem more focused on accumulating a large group of people for a cinematic experience than they do spreading out to tackle objectives in a strategic manner. Reforger will not hold your hand the way Squad does. It can be unforgiving but very worth it.
@@darkspectre9392 Its a sandbox, so if youve been having an arcade experience its due to the servers youve been playing. The PVP focus does throw off the A3 crowd. But A2 and A1 had active PVP scenes not far off from Reforger. Its a bit of back to its roots for Arma. BI has neglected PVP game modes for too long. You wont find less arcade PVP modes in any game.
squad is definitely not better than arma, the gunplay in squad after ICO is so bad, the jelly hands making you wait 30 seconds to shoot 1 time is annoying.

Bohemia has always had their own ai system and since the whole purpose of Reforger was as a development testbed which would then help with Arma 4 development. This engine needs a TON of maturing in its current state compared to the engines what A2 and A3 used. So they absolutely need to get AI jumpstarted here to help them see what works and what doesn't in preparation for Arma 4 development. Would be absolutely stupid on their part to just focus solely on PvP only.

Played reforger when it first dropped. Knew it had potential but wasn't sold on it. Came back a few weeks ago and man I am blown away already. Can't wait to see what comes.
@@cateatingsushi4108You have to download them but if you try to jump on a server with mods you don’t have it will attempt to download them to your workshop in ARMA. I don’t know if it’s just me but downloading these mods can be painfully slow.
The only problem Reforger has is not letting the players know they need to work together, yeah sure thats something one would expect, But I have been playing A2,A3,Squad and now Reforger and so on waiting for A4 and there's always a few people who join a squad and do little to nothing to help it, on reforger if you are not playing with friends playing with squad mates is equally to play alone, at least ONE will be around the TL or SL and the rest will just look for close PVP encounters, to die quick as possible and bitch about it, I been around Gru for quite a while and let me tell you its one of the greatest servers that we have with a modern conflict, yet its a hidous experience on both sides of the teams the lack of awareness and comms and teamplay if not requested primary, if you join a squad the first thing to ask would be where to meet, where to work together, where are we heading at, but people atm are just focused on doing meta shit and not working together, its a shame, at least With the folks that I play mostly mainly RU team, When I get online I get asked to create a squad and to set the course of play, its around 5 to 8 folks that notice when I am in, and when we coordinate strats and proper tactics, this game is insanely fun and great, Keep it up, great video too!
BI need to improve the “squad” cohesion and comms side of Reforger for sure. Some of the changes in the next update will help where radio backpacks have to be deployed to work as a spawn point and they only work for players in that particular group
That was the same on A3 public servers though. All public servers people just join and mess around. Most don't get that teamplay is king in milsim. But I actually like that Reforger does not MAKE you do anything. It gives more freedom. There are usually no classes. It's on you what you equip with for whatever role you want to play. Also tbf I sometimes enjoy doing stuff on my own in Reforger. As a recon/sniper (milsim sniper) player I love sneaking about and doing actual recon and communicating enemy positions and activity back to the team. Not always shooting enemies just because I can see them, instead stay hidden. It's not often appreciated though, only when there are one or two squads actually working together.
Arma have always been about the community. You have all the tools to create a mission by your liking. You can even create 1:1 Squad gameplay in Arma, just need knowledge of coding little bit. Sometimes I want to play little solo or teamwork and in Arma I can always choose server/mission what I know I will enjoy. Squad is always focused on teamwork and I don't always feel to talk two hours straight to people around me. Squad definitely nailed the graphics, sound and immersion but lacks freedom compared to Arma where Arma lacks graphics, sounds and immersion.
To all the doubters and critics objecting from the game on some kind of “principle”- keep sleeping on Reforger so that I can have a spot on the servers 😂
Bro you got some serious content potential here, my only advice from a retention beat/ editing perspective would be when openings with a banger like that don’t hang it out to dry for so long, almost clicked away right as it started to fade out because to was beginning to bore me, and then some of the follow up clips just seem to either start or end 15-30 seconds away from the actual meat of the clip, however man you remind me a lot of operator drewskis early days and if you get some of your boys on here with you I’ll bet your the next big blow up on CZcams, definitely subscribing and seeing where you go brother good luck

Got yourself a sub for the pinned comment. Though would have to argue with point number 2 the Squad and Arma comparison is incomparable imo because squad is focused on squad level tactics, of up to a say a platoon level while Arma's always been about the operational level or higher in some modes (kind of why it had a 'high command' key bind on the keypad) or like warfare mode in Arma 2 or in Reforger conflict, CTI scenarios are high strategy and less to do with the tactical level and more to do with overall strategic perspectives while squad keeps has that perspective for the commander role, similar to hell let loose.. but still revolves around squads individually it's like comparing tactics to strategy, both sort of overlap, but at the same time are individual things. I love both but prefer Arma as I've literally been playing it half my life (37 now, started at 15yrs..) also have several hundred hours in squad as but personal preference like the Arma-verse for its simplicity and complexity all within the same game. Squad is more casual in regard to its games are on a timer for a start, tickets involved etc limited gameplay overall. Smaller maps designed around the fast-paced tactical level of gameplay which is super fun in its own right... As you said the comparison is stupid more or less. I always jump into the next Arma title regardless of whether 'it's just a tech demo' or not because our input within the feedback as 'tech demo testers' forms the base of whatever the next title in the series is, therefore, more input will provide better /smoother operations in the future. That's how I see it, anyway, jumped into the A3 alpha after the Operation Arrowhead beta and will probably go for the A4 alpha stages if it's open to do so. I play mostly unmodded, straight up Conflict don't care what server any official server with less than 260 ping Everon or Arland, no fucks' given game is amazing and anyone saying otherwise is being paid to probably lol. Reforger IS a great platform. Sure, BI is not known for keeping their timelines and everything is slow, but it's getting there. ArmA4 on that engine will be awesome.
I played a lot of DayZ, + iam a Czech .. and hardcore fan of shooters like Insurgency, Ready or not, and stuff like that. Would I like this one? I mean it looks worthy, how much janky can the game get? Cuz in DayZ it ruins a most of the time the emersion, like when you were entering that stealed chopper, it just trow me completle out of the immersion. Also my question #2: Are there 1st person only servers like in DayZ?
yeah and I donˋt undestand why they all say reforger is trash yeah it isnˋt what you would expect from a bohemia title but the reason for that is arma 4 because they are building a Game with so many great elements and option I mean look at arma 3 but this with better Graphics and modern tec.

@@fr4me.01 I bought it. mouse and keyboard works, and play with crossplay, smooth 60fps unless is a modded server and 2k resolution. Plays better than 70% of every pc player that plays ANY arma today.

Reforger is definitely the future of FPS gaming. Its hard to play anything else after you play this. It feels next gen and everything else will feel clunky and outdated by comparison. Id definitely go check out the Nam server. Dark GRU can be really slow sometimes, especially when half your teams at main playing dress up.
If only this game was smooth like squad, it feels so clunky and the game doesn’t force you to work with teammates unlike squad if they fix these problems it would be a great game
It’s arma, it’s never going to be squad as it has different goals. Hell of a lot smoother than arma 3. Conflict doesn’t really force you but you get involved with community, there will be a level of team work squad could only wish for.

Its hard for anyone to justify comparing this game. Its a solid play test while a bigger title is worked on. If any one wants to prove me wrong please do, but I'm sure that no other game has achieved a sandbox mil-sim with a hefty community involvement. Since its been in a few comments mention a particular game, ill say I haven't played squad but from what ive seen its nothing innovative, plenty of tactical shooters like it

If you were decent in Insurgency Sandstorm, then this is the game for you. That’s all you need to know, I play on Xbox S series. I’m not sure what they mean by glitches, and I grew up on OG Tom Clancy Vegas, Wildlands and Metal Gear Phantom Pain, so I don’t mind tactical slower paced swapping guns and ADS. Definitely not ab arcade shooter but the controls are BOT clunky.
i just wish public games werent just 50 groups of 3 guys running around randomly most not even taking an OBJ or running logi supplies. private servers are no better. they make you download 30Gb worth of mods just to not let you use half the stuff because they only play as 1 faction and have "uniform/gear requirements" the only good servers are a few Russian ones (not saying which ones because i dont want them ruined like the others when the english speaking audience found it) there was this one server i LOVED because they turned off all HUD elements and names over friendlies and such and the game became 100x more fun but then about a month later a youtuber made a video in the server and the next day 99% of the Russian OG players left and all the settings that made it fun were turned off because the new 3 IQ players didnt know how to PID targets before shooting them
People sleep on these kind of games not because the action isn't exciting, rather because it takes sooooooo looooong for the action to actually happen. Why plan, coordinate and communicate carefully for 45 minutes to experience 1 exciting moment when you can have 20+ of them in an average 30min match of any Battlefield game? Even Squad is more action packed.
Long time arma player here. I have a really good rig (not to sound like a selfish prick) and have been around since DarkGru made the first server, is there anyway to combat the crashes etc ? i want to actually have a funfilled few hours but i dont know if its me running shit on high or what any advice for it ? Specs 4070 RTX TI I9-14900K 128Gb ram
i don't know how is it even possible , i have everything set to medium with a 1070ti and i5-8500/16gb Ram and i got 60/90 fps most of the time... and 0 crashes. Try to check your steam files or something because you should be running fine
@@jeanbon442 man I’ve verified cache redownloaded and all I just tend to crash on DarkGru a lot esp with high pop counts only reason I’ve stopped playing it. I have had some good times but it’s so inconsistent nothing like getting so high up in level / rank when doing the eastern server for example with 128people just to crash out

Guys a question here from a guy who was a HUGE Arma 3 fan, but stopped playing because of lousy ...lousy AI. I do not see much visual difference between Arma 3 and Reforger? What is new? Destructible environment? Better AI? I fail to see the difference with Arma3.
Awesome lighting, less jankiness and way better audio are the three biggest things I noticed when I first started playing. The AI will be much more sophisticated than A3 as well, but that is still being implemented. Oh, and of course crossplay is a major change.
may i know why, and what games you like? Im considering buing one, but im sceptic. I loved DayZ, but can i even compare those two? DayZ is solo experience journey.. this is supposted to work in teams from what i understand. Does it have even enough players? is it more or less janky then DayZ? .. @@mikecapson1845 Sometimes I have to buy a game twice, sometimes thrice to fully enjoy it(buy, return, buy return, buy again.). It may be the case for this game, but when I played it at least 3 months ago it didnt hit right with me. I was excited about how the interaction menus were reworked. I play a lot of milsims, squad, red orchestra, hell let loose etc. I think reforger needs a bit of time still before its good. Dont get me wrong, this video makes the game look really cool.

someone who started on armory Folger then got a PC and got on my three and then went back to armory, for I can tell you I’m a forger, and my opinion is better than Arma three the work better, they work insanely better compared to Arma three with no mods, but with mods decent. I’d say the only thing that it really needs work on is AI still, they need to be able to drive and fly. I still don’t understand why they’re doing a Vietnam game when we have plenty of those kind of games and we need another newer game, so if they started adding new vehicles and stuff, that would be nice without having to do mods, but if it’s mods, that’s OK then. And then yeah I would just say more creators

@@TruthPrevails24 I have 1,288 hours in Arma 3 and reforger is mid. All it has is some unique features and that's about it. Arma 3 modless has content for days.
squad is better tho ngl not that fucking buggy at least. theres some cool stuff in reforger too, for example player controlled jets but other than a few things I would never consider to play a game that so little players play and having to deal with all of them bugs

The only problem Reforger has is not letting the players know they need to work together, yeah sure thats something one would expect, But I have been playing A2,A3,Squad and now Reforger and so on waiting for A4 and there's always a few people who join a squad and do little to nothing to help it, on reforger if you are not playing with friends playing with squad mates is equally to play alone, at least ONE will be around the TL or SL and the rest will just look for close PVP encounters, to die quick as possible and bitch about it, I been around Gru for quite a while and let me tell you its one of the greatest servers that we have with a modern conflict, yet its a hidous experience on both sides of the teams the lack of awareness and comms and teamplay if not requested primary, if you join a squad the first thing to ask would be where to meet, where to work together, where are we heading at, but people atm are just focused on doing meta shit and not working together, its a shame, at least With the folks that I play mostly mainly RU team, When I get online I get asked to create a squad and to set the course of play, its around 5 to 8 folks that notice when I am in, and when we coordinate strats and proper tactics, this game is insanely fun and great, Keep it up, great video too!
BI need to improve the “squad” cohesion and comms side of Reforger for sure. Some of the changes in the next update will help where radio backpacks have to be deployed to work as a spawn point and they only work for players in that particular group
That was the same on A3 public servers though. All public servers people just join and mess around. Most don't get that teamplay is king in milsim. But I actually like that Reforger does not MAKE you do anything. It gives more freedom. There are usually no classes. It's on you what you equip with for whatever role you want to play.
Also tbf I sometimes enjoy doing stuff on my own in Reforger. As a recon/sniper (milsim sniper) player I love sneaking about and doing actual recon and communicating enemy positions and activity back to the team. Not always shooting enemies just because I can see them, instead stay hidden. It's not often appreciated though, only when there are one or two squads actually working together.
Arma have always been about the community. You have all the tools to create a mission by your liking. You can even create 1:1 Squad gameplay in Arma, just need knowledge of coding little bit. Sometimes I want to play little solo or teamwork and in Arma I can always choose server/mission what I know I will enjoy. Squad is always focused on teamwork and I don't always feel to talk two hours straight to people around me. Squad definitely nailed the graphics, sound and immersion but lacks freedom compared to Arma where Arma lacks graphics, sounds and immersion.

Bro you got some serious content potential here, my only advice from a retention beat/ editing perspective would be when openings with a banger like that don’t hang it out to dry for so long, almost clicked away right as it started to fade out because to was beginning to bore me, and then some of the follow up clips just seem to either start or end 15-30 seconds away from the actual meat of the clip, however man you remind me a lot of operator drewskis early days and if you get some of your boys on here with you I’ll bet your the next big blow up on CZcams, definitely subscribing and seeing where you go brother good luck

Though would have to argue with point number 2 the Squad and Arma comparison is incomparable imo because squad is focused on squad level tactics, of up to a say a platoon level while Arma's always been about the operational level or higher in some modes (kind of why it had a 'high command' key bind on the keypad) or like warfare mode in Arma 2 or in Reforger conflict, CTI scenarios are high strategy and less to do with the tactical level and more to do with overall strategic perspectives while squad keeps has that perspective for the commander role, similar to hell let loose.. but still revolves around squads individually it's like comparing tactics to strategy, both sort of overlap, but at the same time are individual things. I love both but prefer Arma as I've literally been playing it half my life (37 now, started at 15yrs..) also have several hundred hours in squad as but personal preference like the Arma-verse for its simplicity and complexity all within the same game. Squad is more casual in regard to its games are on a timer for a start, tickets involved etc limited gameplay overall. Smaller maps designed around the fast-paced tactical level of gameplay which is super fun in its own right... As you said the comparison is stupid more or less.
I always jump into the next Arma title regardless of whether 'it's just a tech demo' or not because our input within the feedback as 'tech demo testers' forms the base of whatever the next title in the series is, therefore, more input will provide better /smoother operations in the future. That's how I see it, anyway, jumped into the A3 alpha after the Operation Arrowhead beta and will probably go for the A4 alpha stages if it's open to do so.
I play mostly unmodded, straight up Conflict don't care what server any official server with less than 260 ping Everon or Arland, no fucks' given game is amazing and anyone saying otherwise is being paid to probably lol. also in terms of 'hype' the electrical grid mate, that's gonna be something to get excited about.. a full island electrical grid, those powerplants that popped up in recent updates aren't just for show... substations will create new mechanics, being able to control sections of the powergrid, all the housing lightswitches etc.. destroy/repair substations.. a working power grid oh and the mortars.. it's like squad alpha all over again, waiting on the mortars to come so we can lob them over the mountains lol.. or across the bays etc.. new mechanics to play with.. looks good.

I played a lot of DayZ, + iam a Czech .. and hardcore fan of shooters like Insurgency, Ready or not, and stuff like that. Would I like this one? I mean it looks worthy, how much janky can the game get? Cuz in DayZ it ruins a most of the time the emersion, like when you were entering that stealed chopper, it just trow me completle out of the immersion. Also my question #2: Are there 1st person only servers like in DayZ?

@@fr4me.01 I bought it. mouse and keyboard works, and play with crossplay, smooth 60fps unless is a modded server and 2k resolution. Plays better than 70% of every pc player that plays ANY arma today.

Reforger is definitely the future of FPS gaming. Its hard to play anything else after you play this. It feels next gen and everything else will feel clunky and outdated by comparison. Id definitely go check out the Nam server. Dark GRU can be really slow sometimes, especially when half your teams at main playing dress up.
If only this game was smooth like squad, it feels so clunky and the game doesn’t force you to work with teammates unlike squad if they fix these problems it would be a great game
It’s arma, it’s never going to be squad as it has different goals. Hell of a lot smoother than arma 3. Conflict doesn’t really force you but you get involved with community, there will be a level of team work squad could only wish for.

If you were decent in Insurgency Sandstorm, then this is the game for you. That’s all you need to know, I play on Xbox S series. I’m not sure what they mean by glitches, and I grew up on OG Tom Clancy Vegas, Wildlands and Metal Gear Phantom Pain, so I don’t mind tactical slower paced swapping guns and ADS. Definitely not ab arcade shooter but the controls are BOT clunky.
i just wish public games werent just 50 groups of 3 guys running around randomly most not even taking an OBJ or running logi supplies. private servers are no better. they make you download 30Gb worth of mods just to not let you use half the stuff because they only play as 1 faction and have "uniform/gear requirements" the only good servers are a few Russian ones (not saying which ones because i dont want them ruined like the others when the english speaking audience found it) there was this one server i LOVED because they turned off all HUD elements and names over friendlies and such and the game became 100x more fun but then about a month later a youtuber made a video in the server and the next day 99% of the Russian OG players left and all the settings that made it fun were turned off because the new 3 IQ players didnt know how to PID targets before shooting them
People sleep on these kind of games not because the action isn't exciting, rather because it takes sooooooo looooong for the action to actually happen.
Why plan, coordinate and communicate carefully for 45 minutes to experience 1 exciting moment when you can have 20+ of them in an average 30min match of any Battlefield game? Even Squad is more action packed.

I have a really good rig (not to sound like a selfish prick) and have been around since DarkGru made the first server, is there anyway to combat the crashes etc ? i want to actually have a funfilled few hours but i dont know if its me running shit on high or what any advice for it ?

i don't know how is it even possible , i have everything set to medium with a 1070ti and i5-8500/16gb Ram and i got 60/90 fps most of the time... and 0 crashes. Try to check your steam files or something because you should be running fine
@@jeanbon442 man I’ve verified cache redownloaded and all I just tend to crash on DarkGru a lot esp with high pop counts only reason I’ve stopped playing it.
I have had some good times but it’s so inconsistent nothing like getting so high up in level / rank when doing the eastern server for example with 128people just to crash out

Guys a question here from a guy who was a HUGE Arma 3 fan, but stopped playing because of lousy ...lousy AI. I do not see much visual difference between Arma 3 and Reforger? What is new? Destructible environment? Better AI? I fail to see the difference with Arma3.
Awesome lighting, less jankiness and way better audio are the three biggest things I noticed when I first started playing. The AI will be much more sophisticated than A3 as well, but that is still being implemented. Oh, and of course crossplay is a major change.

@@mikecapson1845 Sometimes I have to buy a game twice, sometimes thrice to fully enjoy it(buy, return, buy return, buy again.). It may be the case for this game, but when I played it at least 3 months ago it didnt hit right with me. I was excited about how the interaction menus were reworked. I play a lot of milsims, squad, red orchestra, hell let loose etc. I think reforger needs a bit of time still before its good. Dont get me wrong, this video makes the game look really cool.

someone who started on armory Folger then got a PC and got on my three and then went back to armory, for I can tell you I’m a forger, and my opinion is better than Arma three the work better, they work insanely better compared to Arma three with no mods, but with mods decent. I’d say the only thing that it really needs work on is AI still, they need to be able to drive and fly. I still don’t understand why they’re doing a Vietnam game when we have plenty of those kind of games and we need another newer game, so if they started adding new vehicles and stuff, that would be nice without having to do mods, but if it’s mods, that’s OK then. And then yeah I would just say more creators
Arma 3 is waaaaay better with and without mods than reforger. It's not bad but reforger has a long way to be better than Arma 3 though and through.

squad is better tho ngl not that fucking buggy at least. theres some cool stuff in reforger too, for example player controlled jets but other than a few things I would never consider to play a game that so little players play and having to deal with all of them bugs

Squad is way ahead in terms of gameplay fluidity. The animations in Arma have always been the worst part of the games.

Latest Arma game and the graphics look like it’s 2010. Don’t understand like either build your own game engine or fork over the dough to license another, stop giving fans this junk. The animations have always been massively overlooked, even DayZ has better ones, and its crazy how modders make their own animations really quickly
