  • This middle-aged man had a tight stenosis at the ostium of his left vertebral artery and was scheduled for stenting. The opposite vertebral artery was blocked. The femoral approach was unsuccessful due to tortuosity in both the subclavian and vertebral arteries. When using a stiff 0.014-inch microwire, the system slipped into the arch. The left radial approach proved successful, offering the needed support. Complication rates during the procedure are very rare.
In selective cases with bilateral vertebral disease, ostial stenting can be considered and is quite safe.
