It’s really cool how the MSRP is something like 44k (not sure on exact price) and you LET the dealer ships in America put a 20k+ dealer mark up just for it being a type r. It really pushes consumers away from buying it, and I think that’s amazing you let it happen 😍😍
THIS! Back in 2019, I was in the market for a Type R but after every single stealership in 100 miles tacked on 15 to 20k markup, I picked up an SI instead. SAD.
Honda should slap those dealers for price gouging the customers. Sure, you'll always find people willing to pay more, it's a sad fact. But Honda is losing potential customers like that.
When I bought my FK8 in Switzerland I didn't have to pay any markup, got mine for a great price. Also, they sell the GT variant here in Europe and it has even more digital features (which I don't use) but they are there. I *love* my FK8 Civic.
Love these cars at a price. But with a 20k mark up you’d be crazy not to look at something Audi or BMW

Your government is the ones to control that not Honda. It’s an American car industry issue, doesn’t happen like that in Europe.
I want to buy one. I’m ready to buy one. But not for the 20k mark up that all the Cali dealers want. That’s almost m3 money.
I had a 2013 Civic as I am a huge fan of Honda, so I traded it in for the TypeR in white and this car will fly and it looks really good. The dealerships are ridiculous with the mark up but I wanted one so bad I put out the money for it, I am extremely happy for my purchase just not happy about the cost. $42k even with a trade in that was in great condition.
Thanks for letting your North American dealers gouge the hell out of your customers Honda!

I am proud to have owned and driven my FD2 Type R for the past 15 years. Fantastic feat of engineering. Never fails to give me the joy of driving every time I get behind the wheel.

You guys should do another video in the type r factory on how they select the numbering system for the type r. And what the vin number means in relation to the plaque number. It would be really cool.
I read that the badge numbers have nothing to do with the vin, they specifically put the badge numbers in a random order on the R's so that people don't obsess over who has the lowest badge number

it is great to see the manufacturing process video, but it is really no point to watch when it is so hard to buy one in Canada. In this covid period, we can see how bad the dealerships management on unfair on car allocation and how Honda Canada treats dealers.

Please help Honda understand that dealerships are the face of their company. If they don’t regulate how dealerships represent their brand and continue to do poor deceptive business practices, all their efforts in engineering and design and marketing goes down the toilet when dealerships run shady businesses. This is especially true in Hawaii. The reason why Toyota has been #1 for years.

Not quite. The final assembly takes place in Japan, Type R engines are sourced from Honda's Anna Engine Plant in Ohio.
