    The part about moving the bombilla around the cup after each pour using more and more of the mate each time is something I haven't yet seen in other videos, but very important to know. Thanks!

    Hey! I'm from Uruguay and, I was looking for a video in English about how to prepare the mate to send to a German friend who wants to start.
    This was one of the most accurate videos I found from a foreigner explaining how to do it, as well with good tips and details.
    Very good recommendation not to take it at night! 😂😂

    The caffeine feels different from coffee. I used to drink about 5 cups of coffee a day and now I'm doing 2 cups of yerba mate a day. Feels like yerba mate delivers a steady flow of energy.

    Thanks for sharing in English. I used to drink about 4 big cups of coffee a day and I felt quite shity without it or if the morning coffee was due stress not available. Since I startet drinking Yerba I overcome the coffein addiction. I „survive“ without coffein and function normally and it give me some stress releave. I only drink Yerba if I got time or I take me some time for it. It slowes me down but gives me energy. It’s beautiful. It’s like a treatment.

By the way, in the end of the video you said about effects of matein (coffein) I got the same result. I did drink a lot of good coffee before, but OMG this yerba mate coffein is absolutely different. LOVE it. Cheers from Russia ;)

    I tried it pretty late too, like at 17 or maybe 18 , and also drank a lot of it, that night I could not sleep and was probably one of the most batshit insane nights i have had in a while, it is great for studying and also for relaxing while under stress, also if coffee has ruined your stomach and you want to have a replacement, this is the way, its more healthier and also cheaper (depending on where you live).

    • @bluorb
      @bluorb Před 8 měsíci

      Yep, I'm drinking it because I had a blood test that showed I'm sensitive to coffee!! I was briefly devastated, but now that I found mate, I'm very very glad that I've made the switch. Tastes better and zero need for sugar. I'll have to try a stronger one, the Playadito is apparently the most brand & I want just a little more taste. Though, I will say it's very good... just gets washed out quickly, like less than 1.5L before I'm drinking straight water! 😹

      @@bluorb try Canarias, that is my recommendation, it lasts a lot, has a variety of flavors like ginger, mint, and other mixes, it is really good, cant recommend it enough. I like to add sugar to it, but not much, just enough to take away the bitterness, it is amazing, the one with ginger, has to be my favorite.

    • @bluorb
      @bluorb Před 8 měsíci

      @@mariolamothealmendares5319 Nice! I actually ordered 6 different varieties & Canarias is one of them! So far, I've only added lemon zest, but I usually have ginger on hand & mint growing in the back yard, so I'll try both options. If the bitterness is too much, I can always add a touch of sugar. I'm pretty ok on bitterness to a level. Hopefully it won't be too bitter 😹 I also got Anna Park Organic, La Oberena Organic, Cruz De Malta, Curz De Malta Soft & Amanda. Hopefully there aren't any I just can't stand, bit I figure if any is too bitter or too strong, I can try a mix & match. I'm really looking forward to having this every day 🥰

    • @backcountryengineer6516
      @backcountryengineer6516  Před rokem +1

      Yes! The bottom of the straw (bombilla) is a strainer. It’s a little hard to see on mine, but under the spring there are tiny holes to let water through. Traditional bombillas that don’t come apart are more spoon-shaped, and have tiny holes to filter and keep the leaves out.

    Follow yerbamatelab, not saying this guy is bad cause he's not, and obviously the fan base like this guy, all I'm saying is yerbamatelab has so many more tips, and just generally knows a lot more about yerba, there's the tips about 45 degree angle, using your bombilla to keep the gourd at a 45 degree angle, using 40-60 degree water from a temperature controlled kettle is so important cause it takes the bitterness out the leaves and leaves a smooth flavour even with the most bitter of yerba, these two tips and so many more this guy doesn't know about, nothing against you fella you've lived in Uruguay, but yerbamatelab is so much more informed, take a look at his CZcams mate, you could learn so much more

      Thanks for the feedback! I’ll admit that I didn’t know the trick of using the bombilla to keep the mate at a 45 degree angle during the initial yerba soak. How do you avoid the yerba powder in your mouth?

    • @backcountryengineer6516
      @backcountryengineer6516  Před rokem

      It could be the bombilla you have; some have larger holes and may let in more leaves and powder than others. Alternatively there are bombilla filters you can get (like this one: www.pampadrugstore.net/es/mates-y-accesorios/679-filtro-para-bombilla-pack-x-2-filtros-reutilizables.html#) that is basically a tea bag that goes over your bombilla. They aren't super commonly used, but exist. You can also try different yerba brands! I've found the Argentine yerbas are less powdery, but also don't swell and form as well as the Uruguayan and Brazilian brands so its harder to keep one half of the mate dry.
