  • My version of the cups performed in the Close-Up Gallery of the Magic Castle. The background noise comes from the people at the bar outside (busy night) and I deal with a heckler.

@@sysconic You’ve clearly never been to a live act. As others have pointed out, this is this man’s career. Magicians, like comics, practice a very synchronized, well thought out routine. They need to capture and maintain the audience’s attention on the words they’re saying, routine they’re performing, etc in order to execute their act effectively. Needlessly disrupting that routine can jeopardize the flow of the rest of the performance. That’s not to say the performer can’t work with the disruption or some amount of input from the crowd, I would encourage you to look up other performances by Hannibal because he does in fact work beautifully off stuff being said in the crowd and those he calls up to assist. The problem with this particular individual is that she’s clearly unaware of the respect she owes to the performer and therefore needlessly disrupts him. And, just a hunch, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she was the one on her phone later as well.

I really love watching “My Favorite Trick.” Everything about it, from the slight of hand to your chemistry with the audience, is simply masterful. You’ve shown me that though slight of hand is important in a performance, the ability to make the audience laugh and enjoy the magic beyond the magic is just as important, if not more. I want you to know that I’ll be picking up your book as soon as it releases. Thank you for being an inspiration.

The country is slowly opening back up and hopefully you can get back to entertaining and making people laugh cause you'll never lose your positive aura that radiates off of you. You'd probably be good on the show ' Penn and Tellers: Fool Us'. They said the premise of their show is not to necessarily to be fooled but they want to find people who are good entertainers. I'm sure you'd be able to make the audience laugh. Even if they're not fooled, there are times they will approach the magician after the show to have them perform in Las Vegas as a few opening acts for them along with a few other magicians. Stay safe out there and stay positive! I'm sure you'll always be an inspiration to people out there that are just learning how to perform tricks.

Thank you, but this video was shot about two years ago and the ad at the end happened about a month before the palsy. Thank you for your good thoughts!

I can watch this routine on loop all day. The practice it must have taken to get this flawless is commendable sir. I also love how you handled the situation with the “heckler”.

He has masterful crowd control. To shut down a heckler that is jealous of how pretty his assistants are and to just blantly make some sexual remark shows how mature the show was great but how an immature, karenish, piece of shit, childish, diminutive, narcissistic, egotistical, downright disgraceful that person was. Hes an artist and his audience didnt deserve such a toxic personality like that. I hope they rethink their life on how ugly they are compared to the assistants there. Shameful absolutely piece of shame

Your interaction with a heckler was very teacherly--authoritative but calm. Were you a school educator before being a magician?

However, the sound only seems to come from the left, if you can, don’t put your videos on stereo in that situation.

More than I like magic, a small hobby of mine is origami. Is there any good, simple tricks a beginner can learn in slight of hand for something like that? I think it would be neat to crumple up a ball of paper and turn it into a butterfly or something like that
