    This is the hardest season of my life as a single mom. I pulled my daughter out of school last year for kindergarten, two weeks after school started because I didn’t like that I didn’t see her. We did virtual last year and we’re homeschooling this year. I work from home full time, and most days have to do overtime. We’re making it work but I am exhausted and still trusting to God to provide so I don’t have to work like a dog anymore. I’m being stretched extremely thin

      Elecia thank you for sharing your story of homeschooling with me! I’m going to pray that God provides some relief for you with your crazy, full schedule. I know that when we bring him our overwhelm and exhaustion, He will either give us the strength to carry on or lead is in a different direction. I think my next video this week will encourage you. My friend Rondelle is sharing her single mom story (she’s a homeschool mom too) and one of things we talk about is finding creative ways to make an income as a single mom.

    It’s going great! I only do the topics that are necessary for real life such as math, reading, and writing which I use a children’s Bible for, geography, vocabulary, and science. Apart from that, it’s awesome. I just randomly selected books from Amazon that had really good ratings and reviews from other homeschooling parents and so far, both me and my son are very happy with everything. Thank you for asking :-)

    Single christian dad here. Totally done with the public and Christian school systems because my son spends seven hours a day doing work and learning subjects that he will never use throughout his life, plus coming home with another 1 hour worth of homework.
    This is my first year of doing homeschooling, and I still haven’t settled on a curriculum, but I’m looking at Abeka. In my situation, I work 8 hours a day, 5 days weekly, and I have his two half-brothers on weekends, so I stay busy.
    My plan is to work on my sons 3rd grade homeschooling, each day I get home from work. My plan is to only teach him what he needs to “be smart” as he moves through life rather than learning completely unnecessary subjects that he will never touch or use throughout his lifetime. If you look back over your school years and think about all of the things that you’ve learned and then look at your life, you will see that you may have only used 25% of what you learned in school within the real world working your job unless of course your job is in an area of specialties, such as law or the medical field. Of course, there are exceptions, but in most cases, this stands true.
    I have never touched algebra, or geometry. I believe that most of what we’re taught about history is a lie, so I don’t put too much focus on history as we all know in 2023 that “recorded history is determined by the victors.” I have never used literature and will be replacing literature with biblical stories and biblical knowledge. Personally, I believe language skills, comprehension, basic math, and basic science is ultimately all a person truly needs to be successful in life. From there, you can branch off and get into mechanics, home economics, business economics, etc. But even those skills are based on the basics that I just mentioned.
    Maybe someday I’ll get the time and the motivation to start my own CZcams channel talking about what is really needed for a child’s education, with regard to what is actually going to be used in their lifetimes by them to be successful. I could talk forever but really like your video and subscribed to your channel. Wish you the best :-)

    I feel this way as a single mom of 3. I tried homeschooling my oldest last year but I did not achieve it because I wasn't able to balance homeschooling him and working at the same time. I wish I could homeschool and I've even joined some groups but it's even harder when you have no family support at all. Now my oldest is in school with a bunch of behavioral problems and being bullied every day and he's also special needs. I hate this for him.

I’m only able to do it because my parents help when I’m working and I work part-time. I have been homeschooling since 2009 (since my oldest was three years old). When I started, my main reason for choosing homeschooling was time with my babies and flexibility. Now that I’ve been homeschooling for many years and as I’ve grown closer to the Lord, I am so thankful for the opportunity to be giving them a Christian education. That’s my main reason for homeschooling now (even though I still really cherish the time we get to spend together!)
    We do year-round homeschooling four days a week. We just started this a couple of years ago, and it’s really working for us!
    Have a blessed week! I’ve been praying for you!

      I love that you do year round homeschooling. That is something I have considered. Only doing school 4 days a week would be really nice, but it’s also fun to take summers off. Definitely something for me to consider! And I so agree, giving our children a Christian education is such a gift!

    I’m a single mom with 2 under 2, preparing my life so that in a few years i can homeschool my daughters. The lord called me to educate them when i was pregnant with my first. My relationship ended a month before my second was born and I am determined even as a single mother to still homeschool and give my babies the life that I planned. I encourage other moms to talk to their friends and community about how they can get support. We already found a small school that does homeschooling for children whose parents work. It’s an interesting system but it’s helpful for someone like me who will need care for my children sometimes. So talk to other mommas at the park, church, etc, you never know what resources are out there.

    Thank you for this video a single mom with a 2 1/2 year old. I haven’t worked from the time him being born managing my savings and I know the lord has had to have multiplied it and really provided. One day the I felt like the lord put it on my heart to look up single mom homeschooling and I can learn about even working from home because that has to be apart of it. He got accepted in a early headstart program im going to see how it goes. But you saying you can’t get time back really struck my heart. I’m praying that if it not for him that the door will be closed, we meet the teachers today. Curious of what Christian curriculum you use for your little one and if you can keep me in your prayers 🙏🏽
    I’ve been looking into the gentle classical preschool and the good the beautiful but I get confused with the catechisms it throws me for my Catholic upbringing but now being a Christian, definitely something to pray about. God bless and hope you have a blessed day’

    I am on disability for a kidney issue. I am a single mama, I have 2 boys (3yrs & almost 18🤯) I am devastated (but for grace I can get through) that I didn’t realize how fleeting my oldest childhood would be. I was saved by Jesus out of addiction & domestic abuse 🙌🏼 about 5 yrs ago. I too grew up homeschooled in high school, public school until then. As an almost 40 yr old woman I am learning how to do life again, most days it feels like I’m in an alternate universe because I have a toddler &a senior in high school, potty training, &buying senior class rings wasn’t exactly in my plan. but God is so good and he knows what we need and his plan is bigger than we could ever imagine. I am a Christian and I am feeling convicted about school and I’m wondering if you have any advice on how to get over the inadequacy feelings.

    • @MollysStory
      @MollysStory  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you for sharing your testimony of what God has brought you through. That is amazing! I love your desire to trust God and His plan for you, even if it's different than what you originally imagined. In regards to your question, if you are feeling inadequate about potentially homeschooling (let me know if I misunderstand your question), then I would just encourage you in this way. If God is calling you to homeschool, He will equip you with the strength to be able to do it. It doesn't meant that it won't be challenging, but God is faithful to what He calls us to do. I would just say, keep praying about it, until you have a clear answer. Blessings on your single motherhood journey! I will pray for you right now.

    Our children will be attending public school as both my husband and I have to work. I am trusting God that I may find work so that I can pick them up everyday and spend that time with them. I really really do not want to put them into Outside School Hours Childcare. I have worked in OSHC and it is not something I want for my children. I currently run toddler childcare in my home and the hours are long so that arrangement will not work once they go to school.

    • @MollysStory
      @MollysStory  Před rokem +2

      That’s amazing you are fostering kids! There are a number of factors to how I’m able to work just two days, the main thing is God’s miraculous provision and care in all the little details. I clean houses for a living so I have a good hourly pay. I do receive state support for food and health insurance. I live simply and have no debt or car payment. But God has many times provided for me through unexpected financial gifts from others. It’s really quite amazing how He has taken care of me. I would just say, if God leads you to do something, He will take care of the details! I will pray for you!
