I still remember when I moved to Bangalore back in 2003, when I heard this song I thought this was yet another copy from Tamil songs. Then I realized it's the original by Raja sir himself which was later copied into his Tamil movie. Nonetheless i am absolutely have become addicted to the Kannada version for the music, the words and the visuals.

Ilayaraja has given his best for this Kannada film This average film was elevated to greater heights by the mellifluous music of Maestro Ilayaraja excellent lyrics and rendition
If you put it that way, I play with the card that Ilayaraaja was disciple to, trained n mould by GKV. Don't try to damage Kannada film fame.
It was a simple and beautiful film. That much was needed for the music to become hit. This film (1981) was kept alive by Kannadigas because of their affection towards Shankar Nag. It was caught by you non-Kannadigas only in 2000s because of internet/social media. The simple but effective storyline tempted the composer and lyricists to come up with beautiful lyrics and tune. Each song perfectly suits the situation and mood in the film.

Guys, there are 2 versions of this song (if not more!). Distinctive difference is at 3:13 in this video, before the start of "Kaamana billeruva...), in the other version, the background beats stop when the singer sings "kaama.." and starts at "na". Not able to find this version. Or am I just crazy??
