Out here in Canada you can buy an independent induction burner that you plug in a normal electric plug. So if your on low buget you can buy it for 50$ or so. Perfect for studend and its gonna boil water in a minute.

You can in the US too.I'm not sure how much ours was because it was a gift. I choke around gas stoves, and that's what this house has, so I couldn't cook until was got our induction burner. Still don't have an oven equivalent, but at least I've got a burner now!

No everyone has electrical stove money, btw lol…some places charge more, and it takes longer to heat up. Electric cars give off high level of radiation. Dang if you do, dang if you don’t.

    • @mentaya11
      @mentaya11 Před 28 dny +4

This is misrepresented. "Radiation" is a lot of things. Technically, gamma radiation (which is the stuff you really want to worry about) is on the same spectrum as the light you see or the radio and tv waves. It's all a matter of frequency. "high levels" of radiation does not express the type of radiation. A spotlight emits high levels of radiation in a frequency you can see. The higher the frequency, the more harmful the radiation. Radio waves, which you are bombarded with every second, are extremely low frequency, far lower than visible light. Moving past visible light to higher frequency waves, you get ultraviolet, which can cause sunburns in high concentration, then x-rays, which we limit your exposure to for a reason, then gamma radiation, which is the nasty stuff in atomic weapons or nuclear power plants.
What the cars emit is an EMF, a frequency on the electromagnetic spectrum. MRIs pose no risk of cancer or other factors typically associated with "radiation" exposure, and, according to a couple articles I looked at, the amount of radiation coming off an electric vehicle is about one millionth of that you would get in an MRI (which uses EMF).
The summary: while your statement is technically true, in that the car emits "radiation", the type of radiation is key, and the type it emits is harmless to humans.

that's not really the issue with electric cars, gasoline engines also emit a lot of radiation, along with pretty much anything that does anything, the issue is...
logistics: electric cars are still very lacking in charging places so most of the time if don't live in a big city you will struggle to find a place to charge them so you will have to do it at home which requires an installation on your house to have the charger put in which is very expensive and not always possible
distance on a single charge: is about half the amount you get from a single tank of gasoline and despite that electric cars are still far more heavy than gasoline cars, and unlike with gasoline cars you can't really add more fuel capacity in any way because the batteries on electric vehicles are massive
charge time: it takes ages to fully charge an electric car compared to a few minutes with a gasoline car
fire danger: there is still no way to effectively stop electric car fires, they are also more likely to set on fire, this is an issue on a large scale and we have already been seeing this cause issues
environmental: the main selling point for electric cars is environmental but the thing is that cars as a whole account for a very small fraction of emissions, people need to stop with the whole "personal responsibility" thing with climate change because it is nearly entirely companies that are the problem

@@fewbronzegames These are (almost) all true and valid points as well, but I wasn't going to dig that far into other issues with the statement. Electric cars are a potentially very positive thing, but have many issues to date. Another issue you didn't bring up was that you don't necessarily reduce emissions by driving an electric car. While it is true you aren't burning gasoline, most e-cars fuel up off of the power grid, which is primarily produced by coal burning power plants, negating many of the "green" benefits if you are not powering it from your own solar panels or the equivalent.
My only disagreement with your statement is the undervaluing of the impact of automobiles on global emissions. While numbers vary depending on how you group your data and what you include where, in the US, at least, the division of greenhouse gasses has 75% of emissions (very roughly) divided fairly evenly between 3 sectors, industry, power generation (such as is used in personal homes or to power businesses, street lights and everything else we use, and the third being transportation, including busses, trains, planes, and personal vehicles. Of the roughly 20-30% of emissions generated by transportation, roughly 40% is generated by personal vehicles (which would be roughly 8-12% of the total. Factoring in personal electricity waste and the like, and individual choices absolutely make up a significant percentage of emissions, enough for people to take personal responsibility for, at any rate. That said, companies are primarily responsible for the subset "industry", for some of the power generation, and for a significant percentage of the 45% of transportation emissions made up by land or sea shipping. Certainly greater than the amount made up by personal automobiles.

@@mentaya11 yes electric cars do produce emissions, i didn't feel like mentioning that because it's more of a power production issue which should be solved before considering electric cars and besides that they still produce less emissions even if they are on a fossil fuel grid
cars are also largely the only option for transport in the US and they don't really do much to solve this in most states, houston texas for example despite the majority of people there voting that they needed a better public transport system have yet to implement anything major
i don't consider 10% of emissions from cars to be that relevant (around 12% of emissions are from forestry alone), i mean think about it, the majority of people in the states are driving to work every day with a gasoline car which compared to much bigger emission producers is much harder to solve compared to things like power production or manufacturing (also on account of the fact that for electric cars to work you still need to solve the power production problem first anyways), people need to be able to transport themselves nearly every day and that needs to be affordable, logistical, and accessible, and electric cars can't get us there, or atleast they can't nearly soon enough, really if it's an option the best thing you can do is just take the train or bus
just cutting out fossil fuel use for the power grid would actually nearly get us to the 2050 emissions goal
the US, india and china is particular are also responsible for basically half the worlds total emissions
for example the entire EU which has well more than double the population of the US produces less emissions than the US alone, so those 3 in particular are the main issues (particularly china but they also produce like half the shit in the US so you can blame a lot of that on the US too)
