Un moment de cinéma renouvelable ❤
God, what an awful movie!
1989 doesn't seem all that long ago, what a different world we experienced, the 70s,80s and 90s, can't imagine how the older gens see today, must be heartbreaking what's become of society.
Society has gone down the pan in a handcart , Im69 and it seems to get worse every day . Tech wise we might be ahead but the average intelligence level has plummeted
@@UserUser-ww2nj Every generation seems to think the nonsense you do....and they are always wrong.
@@Steelmage99 Try watching some of the street interviews . Watched one a while ago and people were saying that Portugal was in South America plus the average American does not know how many stars there on their flag and it's not just Americans but it seems to be worse there than anywhere else
@@UserUser-ww2nj Street interviews? That's your argument?
Sigh....maybe you are right. People like you _do_ seem less intelligent these days....
Yes indeed
What a fabulous cast …they don’t make them like this anymore……Mainly English actors of course….Thank you for this …..
R.I.P. George Segal who died March 23 of this year at the age of 87. I always liked Mr. Segal.
I'll 2nd that.
@@fokkerd3red618 So will I.
I recall an old movie of George Segal 'King Rat" Brilliant War Crime Movie.
@@hendrikasunqrout571 Yes, I remember that.
I didn't know about his passing after complications from bypass surgery and I present here my humble respects to a consistently 1st class actor and entertainer. Hey Pops, we will miss your banjo playing and your infectious laugh!
Those days!! Albert Finney, Alan Bates, Tom Courtney and the girls, Julie Christie, Shirley Anne Field, June Ritchie, Rita Tushingham. A golden era for British Films.
ABSOLUTE;Y !
Brilliant script, written and directed by Bryan Forbes, who also wrote the novel. Bryan Forbes was an English film director, screenwriter, film producer, actor and novelist described as a "Renaissance man" and "one of the most important figures in the British film industry". Forbes also wrote and directed Kim Stanley and Richard Attenborough in "Seance on a Wet Afternoon", George Segal in "King Rat", Alan Bates and Hayley Mills in "Whistle Down the Wind." He was a prolific writer and producer, who was the first head of EMI Films, the British Government's attempt to revive the failing film industry. All his films feature great classic dramatic writing, without the use of special effects or explicit sexual or violent content. Good actors flocked to work for him.
Quite right. - thank you for this information for the benefit of a younger generation. But you forgot to mention also that Bryan Forbes' wife (of a very long-standing and happy marriage), the beautiful classically-trained actress Nanette Newman, also appeared in many of his films - including this one !
Thank you for these details and the concise summary of Forbes's work. I have seen King Rat (1965) which also featured George Segal. I am now prompted to see more of this director's work.
@@colinphillips7016 He also directed other strange films : The L-Shaped Room and The Stepford Wives
( that featured his wife Nanette Newman )
His daughter was a TV presenter in the 90s and I remember she did a show called talking telephone numbers. She presented it with Philip scofield, but I don't know why Emma forbes quit TV.
Fabulous cast. In addition to Finney, Segal and Thomas there was also Anthony Quayle and Ian Holme.
I agree this beats out an old james bond flick any day. Thank you for sharing this espionage gem!
Great movie and cast. The music by Ennio Morricone superb as always.
Fabulous actors, fine voices. You can tell what they are saying. End or near end of an era, I’m sorry to say
i'm an actor and I work on diction and voice quality with my film roles. Hope this kind of acting continues
Intelligent espionage film from pre Blair England.
Thank goodness we have our fine country as it was - immortalised forever on film.
Other parts of Europe are also very beautifully depicted.
Stellar cast.
Very enjoyable.
You know it is going to be good when Albert Finney and George Segal are in it! Brill!
Interesting how the word "good" has changed usage from "that with furthers the intention of the Creator" to "that which seduces us into taking our mind off of the Creator".

A Good Watch. This and others like it: Quiller Memorandum, Tinker Tailor, Smileys People, Spy Who Came in From The Cold, Ipcress Files, Funeral In Berlin, Billion Dollar Brain are tops in their Genre. Have to say favorite is Burton in Spy Who Came In From The Cold. The grainy black and white nastiness of in your face close ups of Burton and his cynical/nasty delivery of his lines is worth the watch. Thanks for posting this great movie.
I saw The Spy Who Came in from the cold maybe in 1966 when I was 8 .
Of course depressing to an American girl but I guess it was around then that my mother really started explaining more about the Iron Curtain countries to me .
I know I had heard that phrase when I was five or six but it wasn't until I saw that movie I had a better understanding of people willing to risk getting shot to risk living in freedom .
Best espionage film I have ever seen.
Outstanding plot and acting performances ❤
R.I.P George Segal
Albert finney what an actor loved 'Saturday night Sunday morning'.
Great film. Albert Finney brilliant as usual. Rip.Brian Forbes similar genre to Le Carre and Deighton. Only the Brits can write truly convincing, full of intrigue, spy stories.
Yes👍👍
They were the absolute masters of all kinds of movies from the beginning until recently, when all movie making went down the toilet.
Excellent cast and movie. So nice to hear the English language spoken so well……in it. Smile.
First class rating as to acting, script, suspense. Do I miss MM.FINLEY AND SEAGAL!!!!thank you to merit your high quality selecting the posts you send us . CHEERS

Great film and acting, and music by the Italian composer, Ennio Morricone!
Enjoyed the film, love the cold war stuff, and the cast was excellent. Thanks for posting it.
One of the very last, fine Cold War films. I almost miss those days.
Vert good. Finney is an outstanding actor.

Yes I remember those depressing social realism films from Great Britain and seeing them on TV as a kid in the 60s and 70s ... they were good movies that have a way of pulling you in it's just that they were so depressing , often .
VG film, although I needed to watch it twice. Congrats to Bryan Forbes, both for his writing and his direction.

A super movie.. Albert Finney.. one of the best
🎉🎉🎉
Thoroughly enjoyed this. However, having checked IMDB, it was, originally, a two part,TV, drama with a total duration of 3 hrs, 20 mins. Obviously this upload is a very abridged version of the original. Not having watched the original version, I was able to absorb and enjoy what was presented. However, I did feel that some continuity and, therefore, explanation as to how certain situations arose, was lacking. Oh well, it is free to view and beggars can't be choosers. Thanks for the upload and, for anyone reading this comment, watch and enjoy.
Bla bla bla
Sir, you have a point there :)
@@brianfreel1473 So why are you wasting our time?

Great ENDING..... from where the film was rightfully entitled!!! 👍
When you pop up, I immediately like and share because I know it will be good when I get the time to watch
Jesus wept. Hurrah! Look forward to seeing some good films. Enjoying this one, which I had never heard of. Terrific cast.
I am with you. I mean to watch good movies.
GOOD MOVIE!!!! Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Intriguing movie, right till the end.
Wow... I drifted off and awoke to Lemas and "the Spy Who Came In from the Cold"
'After he came in from the cold, he seemed to have lost his touch.' (57:59) Intentional giveaway, for the whole film smells of John Le Carré's 'The Spy Who Came in from the Cold' -- even his first name Alec is the same as Alec Leamas's of that novel; even the chalet in the mountains. Kristin Scott Thomas is one of those several English actresses gorgeous like only English actresses are.
Just about a carbon copy of SWCIFC.
The biggest similarity is the entre to prison to establish disaffection from the Circus(really is the same universe as Smiley would inhabit).
Great movie 🎥 and very good cast! Thanks for sharing 👍
Excellent film, thank you...
Aaaand… music is by Ennio Morricone, none the less! By Jove, tv was worthwhile back in the days!
Two exceptional actors... entertaining story.
I never cease to be amazed at the lack of realism in films which obviously amuse people. It must contribute to mental instability in the general population.
So I guess you've been a spy during the cold war era and you know what really goes on behind the scenes .
People coming to these comments would like to hear more of what you know about the reality of such things
I love watching espionage movies and this was excellent thank you for the download.
An amalgamation - bordering on a piracy - of Carre's Smiley tales.
As a therapist whose worked in many nursing homes here in NJ/PA...I can say, even I. 1989, the idea that a facility would allow the door to be closed to patients rooms is nonsense. The general idea besides observations by the staff, is safety.
Fall are prevented by judging posture and alertness while the pt is seated.
I guess this was contrived for the script. To have 3 cognitively impaired patients in a closed room is ridiculous. Cant believe the UK would have allowed that.
Other wise, thanks for the film
Omg, you know absolutely nothing about British nursing homes at all!!
I could tell you things I've seen and you wouldn't believe me!
So I won't even try!
The set up in this film is based on a very good nursing home with excellent care, compare with what I had seen.
@@E-Katso is it really different in the UK ? I'm asking sincerely because those of us in America only know the system we have here , if we haven't visited others or known of others in those countries who have been put in nursing homes and assisted living .
thank you so much for the movies. could not afford any extra right now, Very grateful. Have a great weekend..
RIP George Segal
Nostalgic, great movie and cast.👍🙏
I like Mr. Segal as a good character actor n all.
Great cast, they don’t make them like this any more…all these great actors nearly all gone ….
This is a different sort of Thriller. It jumps all over the place with disjointed sub-plots. I love George Segal and here he plays a delightful homicidal maniac. I don't understand British drama (or humour).
Terrific! All around terrific! Thanks!
Excellent.. Thank you.
Fantastic soundtrack.
Excellent movie, they don't make them like this any more. Liked and subscribed.
I didnt understand anything, only how she got mad, just that.
What a job rustling up all those Extras for a 10 second shot.
Now, CGI imaging will solve this
Enjoyed the movie. Thanks.
Formidable, una gran película. El casting impecable, la trama excelente, igual la dirección. Hoy es imposible lograr películas de este nivel.
Surprisingly well-executed for what seems a derivative of the several Le Carre novels and movies. It hardly veers from the template Le Carre created, and yet still very compelling with a first-rate cast. As noted, there are some gaps as if it had been abridged, and yet that was actually a hallmark of the genre to begin with: nothing spoon-fed to the viewer in terms of understanding the relationships and plot.
Graham Greene was the master of the spy genre
It is Based on Bryan Forbes's Own Spy Thriller Novel "The Endless Game'" Which is the First Book of His "Alec Hilsden" Trilogy....The Other Two Books are "A Spy at Twilight" and "Quicksand", In Bryan Forbes's Books the Head of British Secret Service is Called 'Control' Which is Similar to Le Carre's "George Smiley" Series.
Yeah. No transitions in Le Carre films.
@@paulhoward6165I love this writer too. Read almost all his books. He was working for Intelligence service and probably thats why it is so interesting to read him.

This is really old, street kids saying “thank you”
No they were playing cricket, a sport that breeds manners ,
What makes you think poor people have bad manners? I never really saw bad manners until I went to a university and met rich kids. I learned privilege meant you didn't expect consequences for bad behavior. Believe me, my parents and grandparents, as they had learned from theirs, expected you to behave properly to both family, friends and strangers or there were consequences. The kids in my family learn that lesson now. I still obey the rules of courtesy as a sign of respect for others. However, if you disrespect someone who believes in those rules the consequences are entirely on you. The kids live in a crappy neighborhood without a cricket pitch because that's all ther parents can afford on their wages. Perhaps they put their money towards food and education before housing. The kids have to play where they can. Learn some respect.
WOW !!! Thank you for posting another geat movie on your channel.
Great actors - Albert Finney and George Segal - directed by Brian Forbes, yet this spy movie is very pedestrian and unengaging.
But of a shame really.
Thank you
Thanks you
Thank you a million times for uploading this I really really appreciate it ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Great from Bryan Forbes.
Missed it either on television or released on the big screen.
Like Richard Attenborough, Forbes started out in supprting rôles and as a director aftetwards with 'King Rat' also starring G. Segal and 'Whistle Down the Wind' with Hayley Mills and Alan Bates among his best.
Was 'The Pumpkin Eater' also his? Saw it much too long ago.
Looked it up: Jack Clayton helmed 'The Pumpkin Eater'.
'The Whisperers' and 'The L-Shaped Room' were also notable movies from director Forbes.
Beautiful Nanette Newman is still with us as I write 20th April 2024. Lovely actress, and Bryans wife and Mum to Emma and Sarah. The Raging Moon will always be a favourite!
Great cast. Competent cinework. All let down by a weak paranoid script, more crooked than a Tory politician.

I usually like to pop in and make my comment on the first half of the movie I see this organization very strong no it's extremely strong enough to find a witness that said he looks like the Prince's murder
This corporation can hide anyone on this earth and with that said they are so sincere to one another no one will ever leak out any information
if it were a book I was reading I wouldn't put it down or turn the edge of the pages for a pause mark.
Totally awesome story i
Am enjoying it quite a bit and even more with no interruption with that said I'll be back for the final comment at the end on with the movie Tata for now 🙋🏽
