Coeur D' Alene is way overpopulated for a lake community, but realtors and developers are more than happy to take your money. They have contributed to the overpopulation, overpriced, overhyped, traffic-jammed suburb of Spokane its become.

      100%☝
Lots of outer stater's moved here, became realtors, and fleeced CDA.
But locals are to blame also, they took the money.
      Bummer.

It's happening all over the country and it is inevitable. The population is shifting as people gravitate towards communities where they feel safe and where they want to raise their families.

Long winters. Too much snow and not enough sun.

Winters can be long. I disagree about the snow and sun though.

I would say that CDA actually gets less snow than the surrounding areas. Even Spokane seems to get hit harder. (The lake is also very nice around this time as well.)
The one issue about Winter though is that the best paying jobs are in Spokane, so ALOT of people commute to Spokane. In the Winter, I-90 can be treacherous, causing you to be unable to safely commute.

I just wanted to throw in a bit extra on this that wasn't covered very well. I first moved to CDA back in 1994, when it was a much smaller town. It was the most welcoming place I had ever visited. I had to leave that same year, but returned in 2003. The city was bigger, but still very welcoming. It was the place my mom wanted to spend her last years of life. (she passed peacefully in 2012). Unfortunately, 2012 was also the year that a lot of thing began to change politically. Right wing groups began becoming far more vocal, pushing to defund much of what the Downtown area now enjoys. McCuen park was a huge one. they violently opposed the building of the park and when they failed, they attempted to oust every left leaning Council person, as well and the Mayor. By 2016, the ultra Right Wing groups based locally and in the former racist haven of Sandpoint brought things to a new level. They staged armed marches through the downtown area and opposed any attempts to deal with COVID. (which led to the area, along with nearby Spokane, WA remaining among the highest infection levels in the country. I left CDA in 3018 because the right wing just made everyone else feel completely unsafe. (Note: Things have mellowed some since 2020, but there are still issues)
Also, North Idaho College is a beautiful place. (I graduated there in 2016.) However, the same right wing groups have worked to get themselves onto the board of directors for the College. Due to their mismanagement, the Collage is on the verge of losing its accreditation.
While most of CDA is a wonderful place to live, it is not without its problems.

You sound like you need to be in the California Bay area. Plenty of cry babies like you live there. Good guys with guns are not allowed there. Only bad guys have the guns. You should feel more safe in California. Remember, when every second matters, the California police are just 20 minutes away. The liberals defunded them!

The right wing groups are right for not letting Tyranny come to North Idaho. Look whats going on in Most Major cities in the country.
