I love you man! So unique... you are the lars von trier of the reviewercommunity!
Haha thanks! That's such a nice comment :D
It seems to be a solid contender to the 7i! Can't wait for the full review
I think so too! Looking forward to making it!
That's awesome that you are reviewing this laptop, nobody else on CZcams seems to be interested in it. Please focus on fan noise and the touchpad since I heard some negative things about them. Also a head to head comparision with the Slim 7 pro would be great!
Yes I will do all of that for sure! :)
Great job as always.
Thank you! :)
Bro, Just can't explain my happiness after seeing this pretty review and to see a real content creator.
Thank you soo much!! :)
I've had the Ideapad 5 Pro 14ACN6 for a few weeks now, same spec except it's a German model with 2.8k 90Hz display - for 900 Euro direct from Lenovo. It's been pretty impressive so far - very solid all-metal build with great keyboard (just a little gap around trackpad) and an amazing screen (high-res, 16:10, good brightness & colour, HD video looks fantastic). It's fast & powerful, silent in normal operation with modest fan noise under load (been using 'Intelligent Cooling' power setting via Vantage app). I was tempted to buy the Yoga Slim 7, but I'm glad I went for the Ideapad with R7-5800U rather than the Yoga Slim 7 with R7-5800H, as the H uses a lot more power, so presumably this would impact on both cooling & battery life. Also the ports were lacking on the Slim 7. Thanks for your Yoga Slim 7 & Ideapad 5 Pro 16 reviews, which helped me make a decision!
Incidentally, the 2 USB-C ports seem to be identical - both have PD & DP, so with the HDMI port there should be scope for running multiple external displays (up to 3?) and a power supply. Thanks for all your hard work, I'm looking forward to seeing your Ideapad 5 Pro 14 review!
Very interesting you say this as the spec says it's only one displayport. However the sad thing is neither of the USB C ports work with displayport for me :( i have to try to get it to work but with three different monitors noone works properly now. Gives 1 second of display and then goes away. Did you have any issues?
Excited to hear your comparison and thoughts! The yoga slim 7 pro is significantly more expensive than the ideapad5pro in my country. I recently got the ideapad5 pro with similar specs to yours and have been enjoying it :)
It's the same here, although the AMD is a bit cheaper. I'm looking forward to try it out more.
I got this same model today. So far I'm loving it. Feels good in the hands, good keyboard and trackpad. Audio seems a bit tinny though. Since this would be my secondary device I updated to Windows 11 right away and so far so good. I agree with you that the 14 inch 16:10 screen is great, a perfect balance between productivity and media consumption. This is probably the only laptop I could find with good specs, lots of ports and at a very reasonable price. I actually preordered this back in June with a 25% discount. I guess my patience paid off after 4 months of waiting.
Do you have an AMD Proc? IDid you do some workloads? Is fan noise to lough (more as 35db) ?
@@damir2020 yes Ryzen 7 5800U. I haven't done major workloads yet. I did a huge update in Windows and Microsoft Store and didn't notice the fan at all. They put a bigger fan in this model so I guess that helps a lot with cooling. But then again my apartment is cold as it's the fall season now. SSD read speed at 2000+ but write is around 980 to 1000
How much did you purchase for? if you don’t mind sharing :)
Hi Jonas! Really looking forward to your review of this laptop. Initial thoughts from what ive seen is that it looks good.
Trying it out now and I really like it! For the price I think it's pretty hard to beat...
@@w2best problem is availability. In the US its not available. In i dia, its the i5 model. When you do your indepth review, could you let us know if Ram is upgradeable (india is offering 8gb ram and 256gb ssd 👎)
@@sunilkc2008 RAM is not upgradable! That's a pity but 16gb is good for most needs. Availability is the big pet peeve with all laptops nowadays... I hope it can be better soon.
Would love more video editing reviews ❤️
Thank you for the suggestion. I was planning for one on the Yoga Slim 7i Pro / 1135G7. I've had pretty good success video editing on it :)
In the UK, the display upgrade is only £50, which makes it a fantastic deal. The resolution is upped from 2.2K to 2.8K, the brightness from 350 nits to 400 nits, the refresh rate from 60hz to 90hz, and the colour accuracy from 97% to 100% sRGB coverage.
That's a no brainer to say the least!
Really love this laptop, i got the 5600u and mx450 version. got this after years using dell with AMD A9 on it. Very good quality indeed for $850 in my country.
Do you use displayport over usb c? I can't get it to work at all. :(
@@w2best im using lenovo type c to displayport adapter and yes it can
@@flyingcockroach5499 Good that it works. I'm using usb-c to usc-c and tried three screens. None work :(
How are thermals and fan noise? Ta
Thank you a ton! Your reviews are the best! Please do a comparison with Slim 7 Pro, I have to make a decision in a few days as my new corporate laptop. Slim 7 pro comes with 5800H and OLED display in my region, I'm a bit afraid of the 5800H in the aspect of battery life and OLED burn-in. Do you have any experience with OLED panels? Thank you in advance! Which one would you choose?
I will do that but it will be a few weeks away. I think the 5800h with oled is just amazing. So def. get it if you can.
@@w2best Thank you for your quick reply:) I'm still hesitating, currently using a Yoga Slim 7 14" 4600U and I can use it a whole day with one charge. I'm afraid the browser address bar or taskbar would burn into the OLED screen as these static elements are always at the same spot and I'm using it 14-16 hours a day.The Idapad 5 pro comes with 5800U and IPS panel instead.
First like, first comment. Good video as always
Good job! :D
i'm about to go to purchase this one at the store this saturday, what a coincidence! please do test the transfer speed of card reader since i can't find its data anywhere 🥺
Sure that will be in my review! :)
It was that soon :) Looking forward for your full review. I'm a linux guy, it would be great if you could start booting into Linux in your reviews so we linux fans know if the hardware is compatible with Linux.
Never tried Linux in any way. Where would I start? Is it hard?
@@w2best Shouldn’t be too bad - generally it’s writing the OS onto a USB drive, then using some odd key combination on the laptop to open a menu to boot from it. You might get some issues with Secure Boot though - I’ll admit I haven’t tried it on a modern laptop so I wouldn’t know for sure.
There are a lot of distributions to choose from too - Pop OS is quite popular & would be my personal choice if I were to get rid of Windows on my laptop.
Edit: you’ll want to choose an option labelled something like ‘Demo Mode’ or ‘Try it first’ in the installer to use it without overwriting anything. Generally the dangerous options are behind big red buttons but just make sure you read things before you press them!
@John Michaels I’m sure Windows works perfectly then :)
@@w2best No it's actually pretty easy. Go to one of the major linux distributions like ubuntu, fedora or manjaro. Download the iso file and make a bootable usb-stick with the iso image. On booting the computer hit F12 or something similar and choose to boot from usb. Linux will boot and you can make a brief overlook if the computer is working on linux. For instance check display is working, sound, wifi etc. The best part is that you don't have to interfer or install anything on the machine. They call it live-boot, you simply boot up linux in memory from usb-stick and test it out.
@John Michaels Live-booting from USB should be fine. Missing dependencies shouldn't be a problem.
Hello. Do you have reviews of 2in1 touchscreen laptops ?
Currently no. It's not really my type of unit but it will probably be coming in the future.
Hi, great unbox, what do you think of the display? bright enough for use in every condition? only 300nits on the specs...
I'm wondering the same thing
I would say 300n matte is always enough even for outdoor use. :) And also doesn't drain the battery the same way.
Is lenovo ideapad slim 3 2021 a good laptop
I have booked it today 5800U , can u tell me which GPU it has and how much gb of GPU ??
Hello, any plans on testing the 16'' version with dedicated graphics? :)
No, I'm moving to some other 16" after this guy. I wasn't too much of a fan of the 16" ideapad 5 pro.
@@w2best Ok, understandable. Excited to see what you bring next! :)
Hey! I got a question. I ordered this laptop from the lenovo US website. On the website it says that the display is glossy, but you say its matte. I got the 5800u mx450 version for $800 using discounts
There are different versions! Mine is matte! If it says glossy I'm gonna bet it's glossy :D
Is there a website where you can check lenovo's detailed specs like srgb? is there a website where you can put in serial number?
Yes, psrefstuff.lenovo.com/
What is the laptop made of? I think that the top cover is aluminium, but the rest plastc-just like the slim 7 pro. Correct me if I‘m wrong but I really think that they did not use metal through out. Btw screen choice is smart, i have the same on my slim 7pro. I can finally work outdoors😄
Why do you think it's plastic? The only thing I see is plastic here is the bezel. Happy to be back on matte! :)
@@w2best Honestly I m kinda confused, cuz the surface does not feel so smooth and is not that cool to the touch and has a rough texture. You are right after all, it was a false claim after all. ofc the screen would be cooler to the touch when the device is on and the bottom heats up🤣
Wonder if there is noticeable difference between 5800H in Yoga Slim 7 pro and this one with 5800u
They have very different power profiles but imo u series is more than enough power!
Hey Jonas! I left a comment last night on one of your previous videos about this but it weirdly disappeared:
Here in Denmark, I find the Yoga Slim 7 Pro with Ryzen 5 5600H and the IdeaPad 5 Pro 14' with Ryzen 7 5800U (all other specs same) for exactly the same price and I'm trying to decide which one to get.
Apart from the more ports on the IdeaPad, which doesn't matter much for my use case, the differences to consider are better battery + power adapter in the Yoga (and a bit slimmer and lighter) versus better processor in the IdeaPad.
I know it's very early for you to compare them but what would you say? I can't decide which one to get for exactly 6999 DKK
Which screen options? Do you prefer matte or glossy? :)
@@w2best Exactly same screen specs. Both Matte :) They are the 60Hz versions
Yoga: 14" 2.2K (2240x1400) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 60Hz, 100% sRGB, Dolby Vision
IdeaPad: 14" 2.2K (2240x1400) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 60Hz, 100% sRGB
If you go to Psref, the models are 82MS000JMX and 82L7001BMX respectively.
Can't post the links apparently, that's what got my comment down.
@@am6tool For the same price and the same display I would get the Yoga, since it has excellent silent cooling and a glass touchpad.
@@mariopenulli1395 Hadn't thought about that, I think you are right!
I have 4 options
Lenovo IdeaPad slum 5pro ryzen 7 5800
Acer swift 5 with Intel Evo i5 11gen
Aero13 with ryzen 7 5800u
Asus zyphrus g14 ryzen 7 5800h
Am a master's student who do occasional gaming and consumes hell of a multimedia, and I want a future proof one atleast for 3 yrs ,
Or should I consider a lg gram??
How can I get this same device online? (I live in Saudi Arabia, and this device isn't available here in any store). Plus: Does the intel version allow for longer battery life?
I believe AMD will give a bit better battery life. That's my previous impression when comparing yoga slim 7 amd vs intel. I don't inte actually. It's super hard to get everywhere right now...
Does it have a slight yellowish tint in the display even the night mode is off.. i could see an yellowish tint in my lenovo slim 5 ryzen 7 machine..
Nope nothing that I can see.
link for this laptop?
What would you recommend between the ideapad 5 15 IIL05 I7-1065G7 and the ip5 14ALC05 ryzen 5 5500u?? Thank you
1065G7 is an old gen intel. Don't go there.
@@w2best Thank you Between the ryzen 5 5500u and the i5-1135G7 for the ideapad 5?
The 90Hz version is like sub 800 Euros here in germany, wow big difference.
Is that with 16gb ram 512 ssd? I think that's an amazing price level!
Will it come with TPM 2.0 which supports windos 11
Yes it fully supports windows 11
so have you figured out how the speakers sound like? only bottom or bottom plus top grids?
I need to examine them a bit more! :)
@@w2best please Turn Dolby Atmos on !But my impression was that the speakers of the Slim 7 i pro sounded fuller and had more bass.
@@Albenny24 I agree! The sound of these guys are def thinner at first impression. I'll try a few different ways.
What colour is that? Cloud grey or storm grey?
This is storm grey!
Hi. I bought Huawei matebook 14, finally. Do you have any suggestions? Thnx
Suggestions for what you mean? :)
@@w2best İm sorry, i dont have English.
Is this strom grey or cloud grey colour?
Storm grey. :)
Hey there. Pls help me out. So i am planning to go abroad for studies and will buy a laptop. I selected ideapad 5 pro. However i am confused if I should take the 16inch or 14inch. I want to take the 16 inch but will it be too chunky to rome around with? Is 14 inch just fine?
However the 14inch model available here doesn't have dedicated graphics and screen isn't as good
I think 14" 16:10 is a perfect size. Mobile but still big enough!
Is it 5i Pro or 5 pro only , or both are same ? 🤔
This is 5 pro 14. The 5i pro is with Intel CPU
Sir, intel and amd variants have different colours or intel variant is also same colour as AMD varient?
Good question. I don't know that. The intel model was released pretty recently and I haven't looked to much at it yet.
@@w2best it's seems pretty confusion in colour that Lenovo usually have in its products!
Thanks for replying sir love from India ❤️
It is windows 11 upgradable isn't?
Yes! Will be testing that out pretty soon!
How is the battery life?
It's for my testing to find out but I gotta say so far it's looking pretty good! 60hz matte display is more powersaving than 90hz glossy for sure :D
Soon very soon Apple will present a new Macbook Pro 14'' with OLED display and 1000 nits. Is it still a good deal to buy ideapad 5 pro?
If they do, at what price? Probably not 900 euros :D
and does it support windows bootcamp?
Can you disable the hybrid mode easily?
What is the hybrid mode?
@@w2best Using both internal GPU and dedicated GPU. Basically you might want to use only the built in GPU.
@@jvm-tv Ah, this comes with only the internal GPU, so that's not an issue here.
How would this compare to the i7 pro?
That's to find out in the upcoming weeks :)
@@w2best
Hey. Just a reminder to not do your performance testing on W11 then, instead rollback to W10! W11 might be more fluent, but can cause performance drops, compared to stable W10.
@@ashar8192 I'm waiting with the upgrade for sure.
Is this has a touch screen?
no and from what I know there is no version with touch.
It does not have LAN port even though :/
No but that's almost no consumer laptop today. If you need that you should look at thinkpad!
Review huawei Matebook 14s. It looks super amazing
I did matebook 14 so recently. Since it's not available in the US I feel like it's a bit less targeted to my viewers that are usually almost 50% in the US.
I got a little dent on my ip5 how can I get rid of that?
I was just scrubbing it with my finger and it disappeared. :)
@@w2best My fingers are not magical as yours dude😂
@@erfan8133 I gotta very small dent too, it happened when I was peeling the stickers on the inside on the left palmrest area. It is very small, but still annoys me :(
Is it completely metal ??
The bezel is not. But that's the way things usually go :)
@@w2best Thank u so much. So but for the bezel, the rest of the machine is aluminum right ?
@@vuongnguyenquoc6018 Yes, that's correct :)
A bit disappointed that it's not the 16" version
I already reviewed that and wasn't too much of a fan.
