I recently got in a mood where I just had the urge to make a little Coraline doll, so I gathered some of the extra materials I had lying around and got to it! She's certainly terrifying and I will not be sleeping with her in the same room, but I think my Other Mother would be proud, lol.

As a historical doll maker, I am proud you didn’t hot glue any part of this project. I watch often and I know how you love your glue gun. Plus patterning little pieces for the clothes, very historically accurate. When you created the shirt, you basically draped a pattern to fit her. Nicely done it’s not easy in miniature. Fabric choices are key when working in little. So the felt, great choice for the outer coat. I think she would fit right in with the other characters in the film. Well done.

I've handsewn small outfits because my sewing machine eats them and hot glue guns... are unkind. Finding just the right bit of fabric is a "happy dance" moment for me.
Congratulations on creating historical outfits on a small scale. My patterns only date back to the 1960s and 1970s. Except for my Edith Flack Ackley patterns. Though, I personally prefer metal snaps with a decorative button over the use of Velcro, many earlier outfits were sewn 'onto' the doll itself.
After watching this video I decided to make one the looked like my younger sister and after making her watch Coraline for the first time I asked her to pick my phone up which I had "dropped under the sofa" and she found her doll there, she was spooked for the entire night

I saw both this video and a ton of others and finally got around to making my very own mini-me Coraline doll.
I’m going to bake her head over tomorrow and then start on sewing a cloth body together for her. I’ll post it on my Instagram and tag you 😌
That is waaay above my abilities, but as a creative person, I totally “get” why making her made you happy. I mean, I just had fun choosing which fabrics would become the fronts and backs of masks I made for other people! It felt good to be creating something and even having just that little creative control of choosing fabrics from my stash was enough. I totally enjoyed watching you make your creepy-cute doll!

Aww yay!! I made a tiny felt version of myself to go to weddings on my behalf because I’ve been housebound for like 5 years now. 10/10 would recommend - my friends send me loads of pictures of her making mischief surrounded by empty booze glasses.
I remember when I was like ten or something and the teacher put on coralline for the class to watch. Me and my friend got so scared we had to leave the classroom haha. But now it’s one of my favourite movies

Little Rachel Coraline is so sweet! Now I want a mini doll me, too, though I'd probably use crochet or all cloth as I don't have or know how to use the clay and paint, etc.
Polymer clay in my opinion is the easiest to work with if you feel nervous you can always bake as soon as it's a layer you like then repeat the process until you're finished. As for sculpting tips I would watch polymer clay tutorials and rewatch this vid along with her baby yoda vid

Aaaah this is so cute! Coralline was definitely one of the films that made me want to focus on stop motion when I was in school for animation. I don’t know why I never made myself a coralline doll, but I definitely need to make one now. Small tip for making wire armatures: when twisting groups of wire together, hold one end with pliers or a clamp and put the other ends in a drill. Gets you a nice tight and even twist that is strong and easy to work with 😊❤️

When I was pregnant, I wished for a baby girl, a mini version of me. But it turned out to be a boy who's literally the boy version of me. How time flies. He's about to turn 5 this May. Anyway, that Coraline doll is so cute. I wish I were as gifted in the arts as you. Speaking of dolls, I received an old pretty Japanese doll as a gift from a friend months ago. Hello I just found this video and just wanted to give you a little tip for turning stiff fabric inside out if you saw something that is so small and delicate: just sew a little thread to every end, in this case to the arms and legs and then when you start pulling it from inside out, find the threads and pull on them. It makes the process a lot easier and you don't need to hide them, they are on the inside anyways.

I too am a wimp and can't handle watching it BUT Neil gaiman voices the audiobook and it is WONDERFUL and not nearly as spooky without the visuals
It's scary but like a creepy scary not jumpscare scary. For sure managable and totally worth it! I hate anything horror or thriller and it is one of my favourite movies!

It's so cute! And I'm glad you're feeling less crappy! I've been sewing a pair of bright orange silk breeches to cheer myself up, and it's helping too.
Also, draping little clothes for dolls is great practice for making full size clothing patterns!
