- Hiii!!!! So sorry for being a day late with this one, but it took a lot longer than I expected (surprise, surprise lol). BUT YES, this week I felt like making something a little different, and with the Season of Renaissance Faires approaching (even though they're all canceled haha), I wanted to make some armor! But more importantly, I wanted to try to find a way to incorporate this armor into my 'normal' outfits, and make them more of an accessory than a costume piece, if that makes sense?
ANYWHO I made three pieces out of worbla. foam, and faux leather, and I had a ton of fun with it! I hoe you guys have fun watching!

Just so you know 'casual armor' has been a style in the Metal community since at least the 1980s.
Metalheads wear bracers and gauntlets (also known as wristguards and armguards) casually as everyday adornment.
I've seen chainmail worn at concerts, but I don't think they wear it everyday. I'm sure there is other stuff I'm forgetting because I don't wear it myself, but I see it all the time.

I am not going to lie, I am as excited as a 2 year old that has never seen a cat every time Binx appears. Same with Frodo btw, but at least I have no dogs myself. But I have two cats at home, so there is no excuse for this level of thrill. I kind of want a video of Frodo and Binx wearing casual armour or cosplaying as Yzma and Kronk, but I feel Binx will call animal protective services if Rachel tries that.

Its the armour with the dress. Most female warriors go with pants, but skirts can be super useful it you know how to fight in them. Susan in the Narnia films went in that direction, and it always made me super happy.

As someone with ADHD, your motto about ‘why do something today when you can stress about it tomorrow’ is pretty much how I live my life 😂. Also, I do this thing when I go out that I call ‘casual pirate’ where I will wear a white peasant blouse and a long flowing skirt, and then top it off with one of the Halloween pirate vests I keep hanging in my closet year round. Put in a pair of hoop earrings and I will head to the grocery store looking like a swashbuckler lol 😆

On those pms-ing, hormonally challenged days I'd go to the store normally dressed but with Lycan contacts and teeth just to creep out the cashiers. It made me feel as good as chocolate.
need to normalize subtle/casual costumes and cosplays along with not so subtle/casual costumes and cosplays as the few places to wear them have already been severely limited. Why not go grocery shopping as Jack Sparrow or to the post as swamp hag. Don't let the muggles get you down!

Omg. This video reminded me I have a crochet pattern in my pattern drawer for a "chainmail" neckscarf thing and a separate hood. It's sized for kids but I think that some casual armor needs to happen in my wardrobe! Love this idea!

The amount of times I've had myself covered in black clothes and chains and combat boots and people will still want to ask me where something is on campus!! Also going back to review the scale making so I can maybe craft me some "dragon punk" clothes. Random thought about armor pieces, if you're going for a brigandine or splint mail armor or lamelar or something similar, you can buy cheap faux leather belts and cut them into appropriate length pieces and then decorate over them to save on "bulk" material, and some places sell them hecka cheap, like 2-3€ per belt in my region! Possibly cheaper online in some places! Added benefit: you're then left over with tons of belt buckles you can use to decorate other stuff

Oh also! Your pitcher plant is a swap plant which always needs to stay moist. Transfer to a glass bowl (so you can always see water levels) and use peat moss medium before putting into the macrame hanger

I love this aesthetic! Straps, buckles, harnesses, armor... GIBE! And Labyrinth and Jareth references have popped up a surprising (but always welcome) amount of times the past two weeks for me - GLORIOUS! Random images of posters and dolls, and snippets of the music. It's even on the Sims 4 with the Magical Realm pack on the loading screen. I'm in Bowie Heaven ✨ And I love that you're a Glam&Gore fan, too! I just watched her airport video. I have to say how impressive this project was, the pieces all look WONDERFUL! You out did yourself and great hack with zee googly eyes! It's hard to choose but the neck piece is my favorite!
