2021 Ford Expedition Review: Family Hauler

  • This week I drove and reviewed the Ford Expedition, a full size, body-on-frame, TRUCK! Despite its large size, I was pleasantly surprised by how nicely the Expedition drove. Even though it shares a similar platform to the F150, this SUV feels more like a luxury mid-size SUV than a massive truck... aside from all the SPACE.
All kidding aside, the Expedition impressed me not only because of its manageable driving dynamics, but because I had no experience with the latest gen Ford trucks and SO much time driving or riding in GM products. This was a big "OH SH*T" moment for me... this thing is good.
Of course it is indeed a big vehicle, and with that comes loads of space. Whether it's for passengers or cargo, the Expedition can fit it all. Opting for the 'Max' brings you an additional 12 inches of length :o
Either way the truck gets moving with a twin-turbo 6 cylinder engine (Eco-Boost) that essentially is the final piece of the puzzle as to why this gets my vote over the previous gen GM trucks... it's boosty and torquey in all the right ways, predictable and plentiful. Ford oughta sell more of these... well actually I don't know about that... I have to give the all-new GM products a fair shot too!!

Not sure if I would take this over the redesigned GM options. I’m not a domestic car guy but i would usually support Ford but I think GM has really stepped up.

I'm with you 100%, I need to drive some of the latest GM trucks to truly be fair, but this drove better than the previous gen, at least standard Yukon and Tahoe!

@@Reoniz I think it comes down pretty largely to that live rear axle that you mentioned there on the Ford Expedition now. Try to drive the GM trio and review on channel and hit all the finer points in some reviews for us! They are pretty nice and that’s hard for me to admit. But they are.
