Erdoğan meets with Putin in Astana

  • Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been holding talks with his Russian counterpart in Astana. They are in Kazakhstan for the 24th Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit. The leaders discussed regional and global issues and bilateral co-operation. Erdoğan says Ankara is ready to increase co-operation on nuclear energy with Russia. He also said Türkiye aims to increase bilateral trade with Russia to $100B. Ahmet Keser from Hasan Kalyoncu University explains the significance of this meeting.
