For those who stumble across these videos, a speed run is a video of a person or persons, completing a game as fast as possible using any means possible. This can include glitches, abusing in-game mechanics and skipping items or even playing events out of sequence.

This compared to the Steam Train playthrough is like a Mozart sonata compared to Hot Cross Buns.
I call the game "Spikes"...because VVVVVV looks like a bunch of spikes!
I think it's named VVVVVV for the 6 crew members on the S.S. Souleye; Viridian, Vermillion, Verdigris, Violet, Victoria, and Vitellary.

Dude I made a speedrun no w/ no trinkets. Plz watch it, its about 9 pts long (space station 1, lab, tower, intermission 1, dimension thingy maze, gravitron, space station 2, final level, ending and credits.) I finished space station 1 under about 3 minutes..

Actually, I think the estimates are more for the purpose of the organization of the event. It's basically a way to have timeslots for each run that allow some flexibility. It's also important to consider that performing a live run in front of a live audience (and a huge, live, online audience) can make the run much harder.

I just learned about this game watching this. I thought I could give it a try. I wanted to cry after 5 minutes. This game is impossible.
I just hold out the V, like a car engine sound. It's almost like I'm saying Vuv, but with my mouth always in the "V" position.
After watching Game Grumps, 7:40-7:47 is magic

Fun fact, I actually beat the room at 11:37 with speedrun techniques (after many deaths) the first time I played because I was too stupid to figure out how it was supposed to be played.
yea, I played this game to completion once and that veni vedi veci room took me well over 200 tries by itself, and that wasn't even the hardest thing for him!
I would definitely enjoy seeing Star Fox 64, N+, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Luigi's Mansion, Spelunky HD, Super Mario Sunshine, I wanna be the guy, Kirby's Crystal Shards, Yoshi's Island 64. I have absolutely no clue if these have been in AGDQs before though. Also, do you guys do Super Mario 64 every year?

Can you do runs/races of specific segments of Super Mario 64? like you know how you have 16/70/120 star, instead have races/runs of a couple levels at a time, like one for whomp fortress, rainbow road, bobomb battlefield, etc. for a small block of time.

Think of it in the way of paying for a newspaper; but you're not going to read every article on there. A lot of people, including myself, are used to wandering through CZcams whilst having very little innovative experiences with the uploader's description - usually everything we came here in the first place for, is the video itself, in the comment section or in the referral space beside the video; the description is simply the odd-one of CZcams's functionalities, I guess?

I know the estimates are meant to convince us that the run is absolutely amazing. But often these runs are not close to the world record. The Dark Souls run for instance. Now an estimate of 15 minutes more than a reasonable estimate for a game that lasts 2 hours is impressive enough, but a game that lasts just 20 minutes 15 minutes under is over half the game time, which is obviously completely unrealistic, its more likely seconds or minutes will be shaved.
