I disagree. You are obviously biased and brainwashed. He tried to keep up with her. Listen objectively (analytically with an ear for detail). She almost muffled him in the end. Listen carefully Nevertheless, this was indeed a perfect duo. Love so much.
I beg to differ, it was Luciano Pavarotti who was trying to keep up with Joan Sutherland. In the early 1960s, Joan Sutherland took Luciano Pavarotti on a tour of Australia where she taught him how to breathe and sing properly. Luciano Pavarotti always said that Joan Sutherland was the greatest singer of the 20th century .
Two of the greatest voices, not just of the twentieth century, but of all time, singing together. And you really realise how good they were when they, seemingly without effort, hit the heights that others only dream of.
The two of them had such different voices and they blended so perfectly. A duo that will never be repeated. Thankfully we have many recordings and videos. They are so missed.
My introduction to Madame Sutherland was the Flower Duet. Pavarotti was of course Barber Of Saville……. And now I jump down the rabbit hole to find just how many core memories were actually these two!!!!!
Was a super with both of them in Donizetti's Le Fille du Régiment in NOLA when the Met toured in 72(?). She came backstage afterwards to compliment us supers for not bumping into the flys like some in other cities had done. What a gracious lady, and such a magnificent voice. Pavarotti was young, scampered around the stage quite nimbly and athletically, but no personal contact. Dame Joan was just ... wonderful. 😊
Aloha Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti and Noemi villanueva lizana !!! Thanks for posting this beautiful duet "Libiamo Brindisi from Traviata." Most enjoyable~~~mesmerizing !!!!!! Robert S.J. Hu Sept. 11, 2020.
Tres grandes: Joan Sutherland, Luciano Pavarotti y el Maestro Richard Bonynge. Últimamente he descubierto muchos registros de ballet en los cuales el Maestro Bonynge ha sido el director. Amo toda la música clásica.
I like the way Dame Joan Sutherland stress the last word of sentence. It makes her word bigger and more powerful than normal. She is intelligent to do and people remind her voice is big and round

Absolutely wonderful. The only others that come close to them in this performance would be Enrico Caruso and Geraldine Ferrar. I hope to see another great performance of La Traviata at the San Fransisco Opera House next year.
Pavarotti tried to keep up with her. But to no avail. Madame muffled him, especially in the end. Nevertheless, this was indeed a perfect duo. Love so much.
When you look at her,you can't imagine the beauty of Violetta..sorry!😮A beautiful voice, but you can't look at her..Our Angela is the best Violetta, Norma, voice& beauty look too!
The two of them together = magic.
Best colaratura soprano of the world
These two are real opera singers . They didn't need microphones and both had a proper Bel Canto technique and both had exceptional control
Las mejores voces !
THE ONLY human who ever kept up w him, Madame Sutherland.
True!
@Marie Whitbread they’re both impressive. No reason for comparison.

Gurl, Madame surpassed him. Despite his Grand and Undeniable reputation.

Awesome I love those two opera singers especially Joan Sutherland ❤😊

Most definitely. But he could also sing with enough power to be heard when she sang her high notes

Beautiful duet, beautiful voices, unforgettable singers that we can keep listening thanks to technology.

Verdi, the master of the masters
No one can sing this as perfectly as they can. No way.

No wonder that Sutherland taught Pavarotti in 1965 how to control the high notes.. Thanks Joan
Bravo! 👏🏻 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
her ikisi de muazzam...
Благодаря.
Two of the really great singers still in their prime. No microphones ?
NO. Singers with voices of correct size for opera don't need microphones....except in an huge outdoor arena or stadium...not designed for singing.
Probably used pickup mics tho, from the ceiling
❤️❤️❤️
