Great vid! Thanks from a BJJ guy in Canada. Always had the utmost respect for Judo. Going up against opponents in tournaments with a Judo background teaches that ....FAST! Thanks again for the help.

this is a great lesson. I am a first year judoka and my instructor taught us like 1:47. During newaza drills I can never manage to lift uke when uke has me pinned in kesa gatame. Now I will try this out. Thank you.

Nice one. I knew the bridge escape and have used it, but adding the knee under uke really destabilizes him.

Where i train they use the two methods you advised wouldnt work, and i agree, when we roll people try it on me and it never works. I usually get people pushing at my chin or clawing at my eyes, which is just annoying and not really beneficial. I showed a guy this technique (without scooting under his hips) and it worked. He said "Do it again" and he readjusted his position, and i found i couldnt even bridge, BUT... i found that i could hip escape and suck the trapped arm out. Great Video!! Thx..

Good instruction. Just one thing I noticed:
You pull uke from right to left. From my experience its easier to pull uke to the direction of toris left shoulder.

thank you for the video matt. one question that I do have, is the fact that when I attempt to put my leg under the controlling opponent he automatically responds by turning his body with mine, keeping my leg from getting under.
I'm not sure how much leverage is lost from not having my leg under, or if it's a crucial point for the technique (I saw ari bolden demonstrate it without knee under hip).
Any tips on the technique, and getting the leg under the hip? and is it necessary?

Nice technique, but is it gonna work against opponent on heavy weight?
