The VW Touareg R is all things to all people. It's a plug-in hybrid so it can do the EV driving thing in urban situations, but that also means it has HUGE power and torque outputs - the most of ANY VW to date!
And it's a five-seat family SUV with a massive boot, heaps of tech and luxury, and a terrific cabin design.
Plus it's ridiculously good to drive - in town, and on the open road.
So is there anything that isn't good about it? And is it worth $130K AUD?

Great review. Thank you. Why didn’t VW take on board basically everyone’s feedback and get rid of those haptic steering wheel controls and replace them back to actual buttons.
I agree. I think the decision to revert to real buttons has happened on the cheaper models but not for high grades yet. Maybe we will see it in the MY25 upgrade.

Great revue, How long does the EV battery last on a long run in hybrid mode , before it loses its assistance to the petrol engine?
Looks like you had fun on this one. I'm guessing the fuel economy with less fun driving would be around 7L which is pretty good for a big sporty car.
I would get in pursuits with this car
Nice choice of your set off twisties to explore the performance. Sounds like it doesn’t come with a similar spec exhaust like its smaller brother the Tiguan R. With the same 0-100 times and better handling than this bigger one then if you’re not after the additional space then save just over $50k and buy the Tiguan R.

@@therightcar Exactly. Luckily, I’ve just purchased one for my CFO (AKA Wife), in blue, with the optional panoramic sunroof and HK speaker upgrades. I was actually surprised at how much bang for buck it provides. She also loves it. 😊
At 20:50 is the back door rubber at the top already coming off?
X5 is the answer. I own a VAG and it's been quite good overall but there's no way I'd choose a Touareg over an X5 30d.
