The lesser-known of the quartets, but nevertheless tremendously beautiful.
Performed by the Borodin String Quartet.

Still the finest string quartet ever written by a chemist. This is a wonderfully crafted and influential work.

+Kathryn Brees With good reason. This is the finest string quartet ever written by a chemist. This movement was "Suggested by a theme of Beethoven", a snippet from the Emperor Concerto, ten notes that Borodin expanded into the joyous first theme of the allegro, and he even expanded that theme into a fugue Bach might have written on a good day.Imagine the talent assembled in Borodin's flat when this received its first performance. Also, read Bukowski's poem, "the life of Borodin".

I have gone through so many uploads of both quartets, and the only one that most suitable is the one performed by the quartet that bears the composer's name, and the only ones who are capable, but the only complete uploads of the first are so unsatisfactory, but at least they're complete. The only other ensemble after the Borodin Quartet that does a something of a decent job is the Moscow String Quartet, but no one can rival the Borodin quartet, and I have gone through many uploads, only to be so frustrated and disgusted. I did have my own copy in ITunes library, and like a fool, I deleted them, plus, I still haven't got the hang of uploading, otherwise I would gladly post them as well as some others, but someone has to, as it were "hold my hand", sorry to say...Thank You!...
