The thing about the 15th Doctor wearing his underwear is that when they split, each Doctor got half the clothes. The 14th got the trousers and vest, and some kind of undershirt. The 15th got the underpants, outer shirt, tie, shoes and socks.

Yes, I spotted that too, but I still would have preferred for him to be wearing trousers! Back in the day I felt uncomfortable about them having Perri in a swimsuit and Nyssa in her underwear, and felt the same about Ncuti! I guess as far as Doctor Who is concerned, I'm a bit of a prude. 😏

This isn't the most important part of the story, but I hear you guys getting confused as to how Rose can be 15 years old, which I think isn't the most confusing thing. Donna went back to Earth in 2008, and if the events of The End Of Time were taking place within the ballpark of a few months of the events of Journey's End, despite the fact that it was broadcast in 09-10, it would track that the character of Rose would be ~15 years old now in 2023.

I loved this episode- some great nightmarish stuff. Increasingly feeling like we’re back to business as usual 😊 I agree that the 60th anniversary has felt different to the 50th but I’ve really enjoyed the extras, like the daleks in colour and tales of the tardis. I feel it’s been a homage to the classic era and particularly the companions. It’s been a really good introduction to the classic era for Whobies (new Whovians????) and reminder for those among us who remember the hey day of the 70’s. Looking forward to watching all the old stuff again. ❤

Yeh rather than directly putting past elements in like mijt have been done before , with all the side projects etc, felt like this anniversary was about securing the link between all the eras, acknowledging it all, but also looking to the future. I didn't like some of the editing of The Daleks in colour, but that plus the lovely Tales of the Tardis stuff, felt like we got the old stuff just not in the main plot of the main show, because really, tbf, how do you tribute every part of the last 60 years, you can't just stuff the show with loads of old cameos and no plot ....they did that to its best with The 5 Doctors of I was being harsh ( I love it , but set a expectation that all specials can be like that)

When Hartnell’s Doctor regenerated into Troughton’s so did his clothes as happened with the 13th/14th Doctor regeneration so I’m not hung up on the clothes thing - although there was always that lovely incongruity when after a regeneration a new Doctor would be wearing their predecessor’s clothes - or the tatters of them, which was a signifier of the ‘death’ of the previous Doctor. It’s the same when the Doctor has a fleeting memory of who they have been or a previous adventure but they can’t remember it fully. There’s something bittersweet and magical about it. In this case, the 14th Doctor survives and doesn’t become the “raggedy man” the 10th did by becoming the 11th. Will he live a retired, quiet life? Will he use his TARDIS for jaunts only but walk away from trouble? Will his lifespan or his other alien powers be reduced? Will it all be left to our imagination?

One of the goals RTD had for the specials was that they would provide the setup for a UNIT spinoff, which they did. Not only that, but Donna has been offered and has accepted a job at UNIT, which presumably means that Catherine Tate would be a regular on the new show, and since Fourteen is now a member of Donna's family he might make an occasional appearance.

9/10. Very entertaining all round. Again some decent nightmare fuel in there and NPH chewing the scenery like a great Who baddie should (Soldeed awards anyone?). Not massively off with my notion of Ncutis appearance being more substantial than previous handovers. Not sold on the “bi-generation” business, narratively it would have made more sense and possibly more impact, had the Toymaker been more explicitly the cause of this deviation rather than adding yet another Time Lord myth we’ve never heard of before but I suppose this may yet be explored. Also is 14 still able to regenerate after this or does his incarnation become mortal as it were? My brain hurts thinking about that fallout.

It was fine, though I didn’t like it as much as I wanted to. I think the Toymaker was a big part of the problem, really - Neil Patrick Harris was clearly having a great time, but his performance felt too much like that of some recent Masters for this Toymaker to come over as a distinctive character, especially once he started dancing (inventive as the deaths he proceeded to inflict on the UNIT soldiers were). I just didn’t get the same sense of an all powerful being as I did from Michael Gough’s more measured portrayal. Some of the scenes in the Toymaker’s domain were nicely creepy, but again the puppets and doll effects looked a bit fake and crude.
I thought Gatwa was quite impressive in the final minutes, and hopefully the energy he displayed won’t turn into irritating hyperactivity as we go on. Tennant and Tate were both excellent, and the explanation for why Fourteen had Ten’s face was interesting and unexpected. Nice to see Mel again too, considerably more mature in the way she came over than when she was originally in the show. She didn’t get to do a great deal, and it was a bit surprising, as a former companion, that she didn’t go in the TARDIS at the end, but we will of course be seeing more of her soon - she dropped some minor spoilers for Thomas when talking about what she had been up to since leaving the Doctor, but with luck she won’t give too much away for him when she pops up again! It was nice to hear some names from the past get a mention, but my big disappointment from these specials is that Susan did not come back, as it now seems very unlikely we will ever see Carole Ann Ford in the show again.

Why is it the modern era, or the writers/directors, think big villains all need to be OTT ? That's why I hope the Master tease was just a cheeky tease, I don't want more gurning massive performances that they seem to think The Master must do.
I think actually we barely had begun to explore the Toymaker and his realm, it all feels too easily dealt with to me.
I'm concerned for ever more now we will have Tennant fans never shutting up about 'we want David back, why can't we just have him ' , I hope this won't be an issue for the new Doctor because I feel he's going to be great , loved all the little gestures he's sort of butch and camp at the same time. Don't know why it had to be this way, but it is a message show now that Davies said the hell with it, I'm going full on👍 Hope the new guy gets some next level science fiction because there have been so many shows that have come with some incredible science fiction writing I'm beginning to think maybe this is a kid's show and I've out grown it. Which is odd because I watch classic who ALL the time. Strange Brew. But damn was it nice to see mel and Donna back.

@@m.stewart8094 Sexuality covers a lot more than the word 'sex' being mentioned. Trauma and mental health lol. Guess TimeLords have Time-Shrinks. 🧑‍⚕
