Kate Forbes's words used against SNP on closed highland hospital that nearly led to woman's death

  • JOHN Swinney was today told to end the “postcode lottery” of emergency health care in rural Scotland, days after the tragic death of music-lover Heather Aird.
    Ms Aird fell ill and later died at the Skye Live music festival on Saturday, a short distance from Portree Community Hospital - a shuttered health hub that previously provided emergency care
    Deputy first minister Kate Forbes later demanded a probe into the “extremely serious” incident.
    At First Minister’s Questions, Scots Tory leader Douglas Ross also raised the case of 27-year-old Eilidh Beaton who was forced to use five Epi-pens as she fought to stay alive following an allergic reaction.
    Kate Forbes, The deputy first minister, said this week: 'Enough is enough. It has been six years on the time scales for delivering the report.Recommendations keep shifting. There must be accountability.'

    “Unable to be sustained” is the FM’s euphemism for “we cancelled the out of hours service at Portree after three years“. It’s very rich to tell NHS Highland to reinstall the service now but without extra cash, all they can is shut down another Service elsewhere to pay for it.

    Pathetic points scoring by all parties, words mean nothing when tragedy has all ready taken place, ALL MSP,s in Hollyrood knew about this, it is the job of all these faker's regardless of party to have made these recommendations happen

    • @stuartallison5000
      @stuartallison5000 Před 21 dnem +1

      I take your point, and agree that most of them appear to be point scoring but the SNP have been in power for years, they are the Government, if you’re in opposition you can only raise these issues when they appear, opposition parties do not have the power to implement the funding/ change required that’s down to the SNP government full stop. So would you rather no opposition party raises these questions and just let the snp sweep it under the carpet along with the myriad of other instances of lies, mismanagement and now what appears to be serious corruption

    How many times did Swinney say they have invested more of their budget into the NHS, than any other service over the years ?
    Well if that’s the case, why is the NHS getting worse every week ? Every issue that was raised today, saw Swinney involved in one way or another over the years, and those issues are still to be dealt with. The issue of that part time hospital was raised six years ago !
