We are driving the CX-5 since its first appearance. I am living in Thailand and we always chose the Diese top model. Fortunately we got the radar-controlled cruise control and the HUD which are very usefully and the electric tail gate. The driving position is lover than the old model and the long hood in front of you gives are more «sit-in, sporty» position. The ride is far more quieter and smoother than in the former model.

You are very fortunate. Thailand's CX-5s are made/build in Malaysia and you've got the Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC). We, Malaysian don't get the MRCC. Well done, Mazda Malaysia (Bermaz). We Malaysian are poor and can't afford the MRCC. Doesn't matter how brilliant the drive, no ACC (adaptive cruise control), no Mazda for me. And you've got the HUD? Wow. Dato' Sri Yeoh Choon San of Bermaz is doing a very good job in abandoning Malaysian.

Nice review Bobby! I’m long waiting for this review. Based on your video during rain, it seems the CX5 soundproof much better than before, but still can’t beat Pug 3008. The raindrops in CX5 still quite obvious though.

Hi Bobby, There is a reason why the engine for skyactive diesel is detuned to have a much less throttle response as compared to NA or Petrol turbo, is the massive torque surge can really damage the car's front drive shaft.

Bobby Ang tyres problems... especially in the rain... couple of trips to Genting so far I notice if it rain going downhill it will understeer and I never got the chance to off the traction control yet 😝 1 thing I don’t like is the manual mode. Gear change delay when the turbo boost kick in... but u won’t get delay on the 2.5 NA

how was the NVH compare to New XV?
I want this engine in my RX8. Lol. But seriously, Mazda just got CARB certification for this engine. That means it is finally going to be sold in North America (probably early '19 model later this year). That says the Mazda diesel is very clean even if not the most efficient.
is the 2.2D fuel efficient?

From your US subber, I wish they actually come through with their promise to bring the 2.2 diesel to the States. I like my M6 but minor things like infotainment system and mazda promises really brings down the enjoyment overall. Other than that, mazda do make pretty car.

Sharper to drive, nicer materials, prettier, more fuel efficient, but less practical. When it comes to size, the HRV is almost one size bigger than the CX3. So if you need the space, get the HRV.

Don't worry Bobby about that analog cockpit of this model, the next iteration of this SUV I'm very sure that Mazda will bring the new digital cockpit design of the new Mazda 6 to this car even the 360 degrees camera is coming to this car as well. I hope Mazda will increase the length of this car to accommodate more space to challenge the CRV.

I prefer the CX5's design. But the Tiguan drives better, has a better infotainment system and a digital dash. It also has a larger boot too.

On the contrary. the back USB is good effort, but practicality wise, would say zero if there is 5th passenger (or 4 members with added baby seat at side). Cant charge tablet/phone at all. As a family car, that usb charging is inconvenient.
Front usb's are meant for front passengers. For back passengers the front usb's are also inconvenient.
You cannot fit 3 persons (adults) in the 2nd row - at least on longer trips. We have one child (in a carseat) and one adult in the second row on longer trips. So the armrest with the cupholders and the USB ports is very practical.
Powerbank is a must
It is always just in case especially we have large family members. Yes, USB for rear passengers is practical. Look at where CR-V and other car makers place their USB ports.. That's practical. P/S: sorry i might sound like Honda dealer, but i ain't :P

in terms of value , how about that sorento 2.2...a class bigger , not as good as this in terms of looks,bt can be had with really good deals and discounts , not for those who worship resale value though.....bt seriously this cx5 with its new fascia annd interior looks awesome...bt we all know , the base 2.0 petrol will be 90% of the sales....btw ,the last one had not so good NVH specially tire rroar , and this has not been addressed in the video..maybe too bz with that diesel torque drool...

The sorento has an understand handsome look. Very "german" imho. It may not be as fancy as cx5 in looks but i think the looks for the sorento will be everlasting

Hope they never do. A lot of people like analogue dials. Look at premium watches, how many use digital faces? Zero.
The AWD version (NOT really FT 4WD) only engages periodically... on a straight road AWD maybe slightly worst (with the extra weight from the added transmission components)
To be more precise: It's an "On-demand AWD"...
If you going to fit run flat run tire for your wife maybe it worth diesel power
