Pyrotechnics Guild International Convention Highlights

I feel bad about taking so long between firework uploads recently so I threw together this video. Here is a little footage of the PGI convention last year in Appleton. Some very impressive stuff.

@theSpaceChimp For colored dragons breath, methanol must be used rather than diesel or gasoline. A coloring salt is then dissolved into it. Lithium for red, copper for blues, boric acid for green, and several other chemicals for variations. I believe skylighter has a tutorial in the archives for colored flame pots that has a more complete list.

Was looking through your videos when I saw you do fireworks. Stumbled on this one and will now make it a life's mission to maybe find you at the pgi conventions.

@spenfisher2 I'm not sure, it was a competition entry from the junior pyro association. Probably several steel mortars full of gasoline with BP lift and a few flash salutes for effect.

@cometomyfrontdoor That's called a girandola. Look up more videos of them, they are among the most spectacular of all fireworks.

@oqiwelkanld That was not a dry fuel. It was most likely diesel, or maybe just gasoline. Though I'm not sure of the particular method used here, the effect is called dragons breath.

idk how close yall are but you should try convince destin from smartereveryday to attend a pgi con one year. the whole convention would fit his style of videography. plus there's rockets.

@@Nighthawkinlight Two years ago in one of my favorite videos of yours, you cut a firework in half and filmed it against glass. How fun would it be to have you and Destin build half a shell, and glue it to glass, and film it with his phantom? (also if you miss the shot it's at the pgi chemicals and supplies are right there to build another)
Also I'd love to see his reaction to meeting our president. Or Wes Smith. Or Ned Gorski. It would be a good video forsure.
