Why don’t you just standardise you measurements, whats a cup, grand education tho’ thanks
So no more silicone in the recipe, correct?
Hi! I would like to know this method’s usability in a hot and humid area such as Northern India- where temperatures are ranging from 40-50 degree Celsius. Wouldn’t the coating just slowly melt off in the sun? Anyways, great work! Been a fan of your work and a subscriber from 2014,15 when I was in school and now I’m a lawyer. Keep up the great work!!! Love and respect from India❤
Loved it all.

You are awesome, man!
someone please tell me what plastic case he used
sounds like your making a bomb
You breifly mention it at the beginning, but would this work with beeswax, or is parafin a must? I keep bees so I have access to plenty of it.
Awesome content. Subscribed.
Thank you! Whole video is excellent:). Would this be okay as a fly over a tent in summer or would the sunshine melt the wax too much (subtropical Queensland, Australia)?
It should work fairly well. If the sun melts the wax it won't drip off the sheet unless you used too much anyway. It might however soak into parts of the tent that it touches. That might leave stains, but otherwise will only make the tent more waterproof.
@@Nighthawkinlight Thanks :) ☺
This really has me excited to improve some old surplus gear I use for duck hunting. My question, and something that wasn't covered in the video, is how this performs during summer months? In places like Oklahoma, Texas and Arkansas, the summers heat can reach into the hundreds. How does the waterproofing perform in those environments?
Excellent! I'll forward this to a physics teacher colleague
Every nonwmad then you can find a knowledge nugget on CZcams. We'll my friend, you have provided me and my kids a life long nugget. Tha k you for your effort and sharing. To good of info to not pass along. Just subscribed.
Try the cooling with the box in the shade? Also full blue sky view?
What kind of temperatures would this handle without leaving oily residue on other fabric/stuff?
Fashion with cooling fins, now you get super thermal pipes? Developed mostly for computer cooling.
The ridges on the roofing sheet may be increasing the cooling in themselves due to the increased surface area.
I'm trying to work out a self contained solar water purifier/ desalinator. Cooling panels is part of this. Obviously the condenser can be kept out of sunshine, but may benefit from cooling paint, so I'll be watching more on the channel. 2 litres from 2 square meters over 24 hours on a part sunny day is the goal. A house needs a minimum of 8 litres of bottled water per person, in case of supply issues. Having a purifier on standby cuts this.
@Nighthawkinlight If you waterproof clothing with your heat gun method, what are the washing and drying instructions? Washer setting - cold medium or hot? Can you use a dryer or dry clothes pins only?
I love his laughter
Stop wasting your time reinventing the wheel and failing on purpose. Instead search on youtube: "The Great Thermate Debate" for how to make beam cutter charges in your backyard.
You'll be melting the foam with black metal straight on it? In strong sunshine for water heating, don't try too hard, or the water gets too hot? I've been using black seed trays with an inch of water depth, with a polycarbonate cover. Then let it all dry out to manage the biology.
and 2 years ago you didn't care too answer a concern I asked you about
If I didn't answer it was probably a concern I answered many other times. Read through the comments and your answer will almost certainly be there.
I'd definitely be wearing a face mask lmao
Very Interesting! Learned a whole lot in this one!
Was wondering if petroleum jelly might work instead of mineral oil? I had a little problem with the mineral oil leaching out of the wax in high temperatures.
Did the jacket feel significantly warmer after the coating?
Explained well but wax process too messy and long winded. Preferred tried and tested silicone method.. .. If only there was a safe alternative to Naptha......
I don’t really camp (yet?) 😅, but that “button” technology is going to be so useful in building forts indoors with my kid!
Loved the button idea and the great waterproof tarp and jacket. I was wondering if it could be done with beeswax and some other fine oil to avoid petroleum products.
Thank you for the info, especially the knot. Just practiced it a few times and it is very easy to remember and will be very useful too me. By the way...Have you ever watched yourself on slow motion?
So I wonder if it would be enough o2 to help increase hp in a small engine
I love this guy. Simple cheap methods for something every should know. Trial and error from himself and shows us the process. Always so smiley, and great attitude. The extra knot and button trick was the subscribe button for me. Love your videos do more like these!!!
How does a sheet tarp hold up to tearing ?
NightHawkInLight the scientist! Hahahaha
Ben, one thing that is a bit puzzling for me is why you don't just use a brush (or roller) to apply the molten oil/wax compund directly to the fabric without the added steps of solidifying the compound, only to re-melt the solid back into a liquid via the ironing method. Perhaps it's because you feel you need to apply heated pressure to the compund against the fabric, but wouldn't it be nearly as easy to just soak into the fabric when applying the molten liquid with a brush, or roller?
Did your jacket get two pounds heavier after you waterproofed it , and can you tell us about how you launder it please?
Need to wet the fiber :-) This is so cool, thanks for sharing.
I wonder if a ceramic coating would work?
I'm Very Very pressed well done, could Vegetable oil be used in place of mineral oil ???
Why not heat treat by recording the sheet and putting it on a cookie sheet in your oven at a low setting for a short time?
the last one is a fembot tampon.
I did not know the Young Fidel Castro was an intelligent metallurgist. great job. 🤔🤨😃😉😎
