Who cried when Grogu touched Mando’s face? No shame, just hands.
Best scene in the entire season imo
I Think everebody cried
i cried until the credits when i noticed the screen didn't shrink, i was like "Whoa, there's gonna be a post credits."
It was a great scene but I didn't cry per se.
@@culturecanvas777 you ae not human get out from here hahahaha
I didn’t care about Luke’s face. Just seeing him again was enough for me.

This! I hear you bro!
To paraphrase Gideon, the CGI doesn't have power. The story does.
@@shayposting Well said.
@@shayposting but this is a visual medium that is famous for special effects... it was pretty mediocre deepfake job for such a major character. It doesn't detract from what they were trying to achieve, but at the sametime... it prevents the moment from really keeping you fully in the moment because it could be a little better
Grogu: "So what do I call you?"
Luke: "Well my name is Luke but I guess you can call me 'Master Skywalker'."

The scene with Mayfeld Mando and the Imperial Officer talking might be one of my favorite scenes in all of Star Wars. All three actors were giving it their very best, Bill Burr looked like he was in real pain listening to him and even Mando being so uncomfortable and not used to showing his face was beautiful.
Yeah gotta agree. I thought the imperial officer nailed his performance too. Got so much depth from literally 1 scene
I like how they understood that Mando could not do much more than sit there and try to keep it together; he might be a hell of a fighter but he's no spy.
And then the major Tarantino vibes was really cool too!
That moment changed my view towards Mayfeld.
He also mentions "Operation Cinder", which makes the story from Star Wars Battlefront II with Iden Versio cannon.
“I have a hallway massacre scene, like my father before me.”
So be it, Jedi
Man imagine them meeting in the middle.
It’s like poetry. It rhymes

Same comment every where with good likes... Not from me though. I'm just empatizing the first guy who wrote this and then had to watch every low quality "like whores" claming his/her writing without changing a single word out of decency...
Luke's De Aging may have been a little off, but R2's was flawless. Easily the best De-aging work in cinematic history.
As much as I hate complimenting this movie. Captain Marvel probably had the best De-aging with Nick Fury. But it was really good.
@@nateludlow2622 I always say the exact same thing. Probably is the best
@@nateludlow2622 I sadly have to agree
the best de-aging work they did was with Kurt Russel from Guardians of the Galaxy 2
Next time they should use deepfake
Mando getting his face smashed in brought back some Game of Thrones flashbacks when he was also fighting with a spear....gald it worked out for him this time lol.
That's the real reason he's keeping the helmet on, gotta protect the eyes.
He learnt from his mistakes.
He listened to Tyrion's advice this time!
"i always drink before a fight."
Hated that episode. Waste of an awesome character
It baffles me at how good of an actor Bill Burr is. When i heard he was in the first season i thought he'd just be some comedy relief but he's got a natural presence on screen that I didn't expect
He was pretty menacing in Breaking Bad in that scene with Ted.
He played himself and it worked perfect
If you watch his standup you will notice Bill is highly expressive and relies on character impersonations to deliver his punchline. It was really cool to see that translate so well to his Star Wars role.
Don't forget his work on The Chappelle Show. That was like a SNL type of acting
He is an awesome actor which surprised me as well
bill burr as Mayfeld got more character development in one episode than Finn got in an entire sequel trilogy.
They gave Finn's entire story purpose to Jannah in TRoS.
Didn’t find Finn interesting
*The sequels aren’t canon*

Ludwig's music for the dark troopers was literally dubstep lol
You could say he is stepping up his music ;-)
The soundtrack isn't getting enough attention. The theme when Luke arrives is called "A Friend" and I can't stop listening to it. Mesmerizingly beautiful....
"Open the Door" hits harder for me, the one where Luke has Grogu in his hands as they look at Din just holding back his tears. Especially the last 30 seconds or so of that theme, it just hits you right in the feels. It just gave that John Williams vibe you know? Goransson is a genius.

This show gave more depth to a traumatized former stormtrooper in one scene than the sequel trilogy did with Finn in 3 whole movies.

Thinking that Luke Skywalker being in Star Wars is 'fanservice' is something only the darkest timeline could have brought us to.
LOL well said.
After 9 movies revolving around the skywalkers, 5-6 of which had Luke Skywalker play an important role in, I just wanted to watch a space cowboy western type show that the Mandalorian set out as. It still probably will remain that way. But regardless, seeing Skywalker show up for the bajillionth time definitely wasn't fun for me personally.
@@wren4077 I dunno what you're talking about, we've been waiting 37 years to see Luke Skywalker in Star Wars again
Fanservice can be great if executed well (see Avengers: Endgame). There's tons of it in this season, and each one is executed amazingly imo, and Luke had a lot of buildup and tension which I loved
It is fan service lol

Single handedly, The Mandalorian took everything I love about Star Wars and gifted us fans with the best possible present and said Merry Christmas. Un. Fucking. Real.
All I want for Christmas is for my hope for the future of Star Wars to come back. AND CHRISTMAS CAME EARLY THIS YEAR BITCHES!
@@ToxicTurquoise454 Hard agree. That’s the Star Wars fandom for ya. Smh. The sequel trilogy wasn’t even as bad as they make it out
@@ToxicTurquoise454 ORRRRRRRRRRRRR the fans were given six movies that are all almost universally cited as being poorly-written mediocre 2-hour toy commercials as a reward for sticking with the franchise for decades, and were understandably left jaded by it. It's been twenty years since the prequel series, and none of them have aged better with time in the way that Empire has, which too was greeted with disdain upon release, and I don't see the same happening with the new trilogy - especially since The Mandalorian mopped the floor with them in less than 5 years. Sometimes a bad movie is just a bad friggin' movie - and it's totally possible to make half a dozen of them in a row - just ask the Fast & Furious people.
@@jpollackauthor Nah, the jaded fans just cant help being gatekeepers. While you may write off both the prequels and sequels that doesn't mean they don't have value to other people.

God the choreography of Luke taking down the dark troopers was FUCKING EPIC and fully showed he was at his prime as a Jedi. I also loved how scared Gideon looked knowing who was tearing down his dark troopers and was the one who brought the chosen one back to the light side and defeat the empire

Fan Service is going back to Tatooine again, going to the same cantina, sitting in Han's booth.. that's annoying fan service. It's not fan service if it naturally serves the story. Makes perfect sense for Luke to show up to take Grogu away for training. That's just great story telling.
Exactly, there was a build up to it. Besides, it never took away from Grogu and Din's story. Notice how main focus of that scene is their point of view. Din seeing that this guy is powerful enough to take care of the kid and train him. Grogu seeing the potential of what he can be. That's what great fan service does.
@@brucesnow7125 when Grogu started opening his eyes wide... I was getting goosebumps.
Not to mention I love Moff Gideon’s expressions, something we never see from him often, Fear.
I think fan service is bad when it either, does nothing for the story, or affects the story in a bad way. All of the fan service in this season was good because it was either very subtle(like the Crait Dragon) or it served a purpose in the story. Bad fan service is making Rey a Palpatine because it is a retcon and bad at the same time. Rey doesn’t even know who Palpatine is and her finding out she’s related to him means nothing
@@brendanfitzpatrick670 well that’s not necessarily true. Lot of people knew who Palpatine was since he was literally the emperor of the galaxy for so many years plus Rey grew up with the stories of the Jedi, the rebellion and most likely Palpatine. So she could have definitely known about him but it could have been established much better.

The only thing I wish Mando did at the end was give Grogu the Silver Ball he loved alot before Luke took him.
Right!
Yeah that would have been great to watch, but maybe he wanted to keep it to remember him by, and in a mission where all he could think of is baby yoda and rescuing him the last thing I would think of would be the silver ball.
Maybe he wanted a souvenir to remember Grogu.
i was thinking about this as well, been waiting for him to reach his pocket and take it out to give it to grogu
It would be nice, sure. But that was their bonding moment, and the item through which they bonded isn’t what’s important. It’s the bond itself.
The ending of the last episode made me cry like a baby, this show is so fucking good

Jon Favreau said in an interview with GMA that they were going to do the book of boba fett and then do season 3 of the Mandalorian
I never thought we would get IMAX sequences in a tv show. I guess Nolan can now make a tv show
One of the praises I always gave this show was how much it DOESN’T feel like fan service. Whether it was Boba, Ashoka, or Luke, it never once felt forced or overly aggrandizing. It felt like I was witnessing a real plot logically unfold and I fucking love the show for it.
^ This. There was no "Its BOBA FETT" *look to camera*
There aren't many Mandalorians around and even less Jedi.
Ahsoka pointing the way to Luke seemed entirely natural. Luke answering the call of Gogru seemed entirely natural.
right! and at what point does it go from "fan service" to a natural part of the story? as much as each show stands on it's own, it's still building off the previous series.
@@kerricaine I would say fan service is where a thing fans know and are aware of being placed into a story purely for said fans for no reason other than for the fans to go "Its ".
There are important locations and characters which exist at this time which would be involved in major events.
Luke is actively looking and training jedi at this point. It is therefore absolutely natural he would turn up after Gogru reached out into the Force.
Ahsoka is one of the few active force users. It would be more disservice to canon to introduce a completely new accomplished force user for this role.
Does it please fans? Of course! Its not out of place or put into the story just for the "Its Luke / Ahsoka!".
Fan service would be if one of the x-wing pilots happened to be Wedge Antilles, a character only fans of the movies and EU would really know because he has less than 20 seconds screen time over 9 movies (or something like that). There is absolutely no reason why an accomplished top ace pilot general would be flying in an x-wing patrol on the Outer Rim, ergo for him to be there would have to be a major plot point.
And if we were talking "fan service" from an animé perspective, Ahsoka would have to stumble and give us a upskirt panty shot :P (joke)

The stab at Rey of "Talent is nothing without training" was the cherry on top.
You know Hamill was giggling behing the mic.
I honestly really hate this comparison. At least from where I stood, it’s *not* a dig at Rey, cause nowhere was it said she didn’t need training for refining. After TLJ, she does get training, and we see some results of that.
Personally, all it did was confirm my thought line: that Rey would get outshone by Jedi with proper training in how to use the Force. There’s raw power, and then there’s refinement through training.
@@davidbeer5015 But the thing is by that point she already has shown to be way too strong. She beat Kylo at the end of the first Movie for crying out loud with no training at all. Even with the wound Kylo had that is just ridiculous.
Also the training she is shown to have undergone in the last Movie is ridiculous as well. All the rocks? FLYING? Compare her training with that of Luke in the Originals. Nothing you wrote disproves what most are saying, Rey being a Mary Sue and way too strong. With and without training.
@@Comintern1919 except the answer for her victory against Kylo is given reasons in the film. Snoke wanted her alive, and Kylo was both injured and unbalanced, and after she allowed herself to connect. Her strikes are still awkward though, since she’s better with the staff (JJ, you should’ve let her have a Staff or a Pike at some point in 9, not a single the whole time). When they both fight on pretty even terms in 9, we see the extent of his skill, as he has the upper hand the entire time until Leia intervenes.
Lifting rocks ties into what Yoda said with the X-Wing. Size doesn’t matter, and one is mainly limited only by their mindset. What flying are you referring to?
Or do you mean in the opening of TROS? In that case, The levitating was something that normally happened when Jedi meditated, at least as far as I remember it was common imagery.
I don't see how that line was a jab at Rey, nor do I see someone like Hamill thinking "haha this'll show them".
I think Luke was talking about his own experience. He was strong in the force and had extraordinary talent, but his hastiness and lack of training was what made him lose to Vader in Episode V. Even Yoda warned him not to go.
You're correct. They felt like jabs. Considering those lines both came from an actual trained Jedi, it seems to validate what many others have been saying and how Favreau feels about Rey. There's a lot of reaching being done when people say Rey actually had training or was influenced by Snoke, and that's how she beat Kylo. It was just plain poor story writing, period.
The episode with Bill burr was my favorite. His Character had some epic development and I like when he says “you did what you had to do. I never saw your face.” Really cool of him
I had no problem with the CGI. It’s suspension of disbelief. The same way I know lightsabers aren’t real but I can suspend disbelief in order to enjoy the story. I enjoyed the story.
Yeah, this is one of those things that doesn't really break immersion for me though I know others will find it a dealbreaker. Strange considering I hated Justice League's CGI.

Haters gotta hate. Only making themselves unhappy. The rest of us enjoyed the ride.
My biggest concern going forward is will Grogu no longer be in it? To me, Mando and Grogu's bond was the absolute best part of the show. It was special. Without that bond I think the show will really have a big emotional void, but that doesn't mean it can't still be fun to watch.
I was thinking something similar but Grogu is way to marketable and if I remember correctly Mando Se. 3 & 4 have the greenlight.
Yeah. There is a 100% chance they will reunite. If not next year, the year after that guaranteed
That little puppet cost millions to make, I am sure this is not the last of Grogu.
I agree 100%! Without Grogu it just doesn’t have the heart. It just wouldn’t be the same for me.
I hope next season will be Mando helping Bo Katan and her crew help take back Mandalore whilst Grogu trains. Everything involving Mandalore is usually knocked out the park (clone wars s7)

Pedro removing his helmet infront of baby yoda scene undermined with luke appearance in finale. It was one of the powerfull moments in star wars and in any series.
I agree. Din showing his face to Grogu > Luke vs. the dark troopers
Imagine how much more impactful it would have been had he not removed his helmet like 2 other times before.. if THAT was the first time we see him take off his helmet, would have been even better. Still a great scene.
I couldn't care less for that guy. luke is a million times more important, he's one of the two most fundamental characters in the whole saga. (the other is anakin).
@@DFTNSHEXGRM I disagree. Every scene of him taking it off set up the last one. First scene was him taking it off because he had to, either that or death. Second one was because it was a sacrifice, it showed that he cares more for Grogu than his creed. Third one was where he didn't have to do anything, unlike previous occasions, he wasn't forced into dillema. This time, he took off his helmet because he wanted to. I feel like it would be nowhere near as powerful without showing how hard it was for him to take it off in previous two occassions.
I would say added to, not undermined. Two separate moments that improve eachother
The Luke reveal is the definition of Occam's Razor: The simplest explanation is generally the correct one. Most of us were theorising about the Jedi being Mace Windu, Cal Kestis, Kyle Katarn or some heretofore unseen character, but no, it's just Luke Skywalker, because of course it is. I feel kinda stupid for thinking it'd be anyone else.
i figured it was between luke or ezra, since they seem to be pulling more from the animated series
Well said. I'm happy, but also a little sad we didn't get to see Cal Kestis in live action. This was the right move though.
When the Dark Troopers stopped hitting the door, I thought of Ahsoka. It's a little bit strange she was only in one episode.
I was in denial, afraid that if I said it out loud, I would jinx it. My hopes were dashed over and over by Disney Star Wars, especially how Luke was mistreated.
I was afraid that the same people who made Luke a sad sack bitter milk-drinker in the sequels would mistreat him in Mando.
They’ve shown repeatedly in the show that the simplest theory will always be the one they roll with. That said, Luke and Cal were always the two most likely since we know they were out looking for others. Cal seemed like a good bet because they wouldn’t need CGI or anything like they would with look. For that reason, and the fact they introduced a lot of video game lore/references this season, I though Cal was a good bet. I was surprised and happy it was Luke.
Chris doesn't have a star wars faction, he's a real fan who appreciates most star wars to an extent. Unlike those who say there are only 2 decent movies, that's kinda lame
No, there are two GREAT movies, one, in fact, that's among the best of films ever for a mass viewing audience. They are also a few good films and some disappointing films with really good moments, and then then there are what Kathleen Kennedy gave us.
@@metimoteo this is true, although I'd say there are 3 great star wars films. I personally would include ROTJ but I sort of get why people take issue with it. Also ROTS is close to being great but is really lacking in some parts
But there are only two great movies. The prequels had great vision but poor execution and the sequels had no vision but great execution. I haven't seen TROS 'cause I lost interest. But I really like The Mandalorian a lot. I respect and accept the fact that people enjoy what they enjoy and thats okay with me. I don't go around saying they suck or anything.
I mean those people are right though. Theres 2 great star wars movies, 2 good ones, and a whole bunch of mediocre trash with the odd good idea or good moment. This show has kinda given me some hope for the future though
Yeah, they're lame. There are only like 3 decent movies and 4 amazing ones.
Having grown up in Chicago, I used to read and look forward to Roger Ebert's reviews every Thursday, so much in fact that I considered becoming a film critic myself. After his passing there was a void in film review as I saw it, until I discovered your channel. You do an amazing job, and I once again have a critic that I look forward to watching every week. Thank you.
"After this year...I'm very happy to like something." Right there with ya mate. Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have made me love Star Wars again.
Absolutely! Kennedy completely destroyed Star Wars with Episode VIII and IX. They had a long way to climb to get back the fans onboard and they did an amazing job at it.

@Meta Man I felt the dark trooper were a bit underwhelming considering how the Doc said they had removed the human element being the weakness. So I was thinking surely it may go for smashing the helmet for a bit but then go for the limbs/areas without beskar armour. Pretty sure a human would use that logic? lol
I'm pretty sure the eggs were unfertilised and she was taking them to her husband so he could actually fertilise them. Therefore Grogu eating those eggs is no worse than us eating chicken eggs.
Science is hard...
This is true, but the audience had an emotional attachment to the eggs, since they were kinda important. Every egg eaten is one less egg that can be fertilized, meaning one less kid for their last generation. First time was kinda funny, but by the last time, it was extremely played out.
How is it important if he LAST ever eggs in her life were fertilized or not? The cheeky "shock" comedy effect was the little innocent green baby going at them trying to eat and actually eating them while they were HER eggs.. a character we as viewers started to care about as she was on a highly respectfully and dignified mission to present her last remaining eggs in life to her husband. It absolutely is of ZERO importance if they were already fertilized or not.
@@popsjr eh, it was a play on his cuteness. But he's still a baby, a hungry baby.
Grogu eating the eggs was fun but also a reminder that only the strong survive in SW universe. What about all of those baby spiders they blaster killed? lest not be silly
I guess I personally don’t want Grogu to stay with Luke since all of Luke’s students except Ben end up dying (and then Ben died anyways 🙃)... I hope he and Mando are able to reunite in season three.

Mayfield’s conversation with the Imperial officer is something Finn should have gotten in TRoS.
Mando vs the Dark Trooper is what we should have gotten in the Terminator sequels.
One of my first thoughts after that episode was "John Boyega is gonna be PISSED!"
Crazy how that one scene with a character that's all told probably had less than an hour of screen time was more impactful and emotional than anything Finn got in three whole movies. Honestly though they basically shit the bed with his character immediately, like seconds after leaving his life as a stormtrooper behind, which he did because he saw one die, he begins blowing them up and hooting and hollering because it's just so gosh darn fun to destroy these human lives. You can't try to humanize storm troopers and then literally like two minutes later have characters blow them up and get excited about it like they're playing a video game and those were NPCs.
Yep, Din’s encounter with the trooper reminded me of nothing else but the first Terminator. Killer sadistic robot vibes all over that scene
He basically got it twice in TFA and TLJ
@@alexanderforbes1452 To be fair, that one stormtrooper in The Force Awakens who calls out to Finn with ”Traitor!” has as much, if not more, personality than Finn. And he’s not even in the movie for a full minute.
People don't want Star Wars to become the MCU all connected. But people forget Star Wars IS IN ONE GALAXY. Different generations, different planets, but one galaxy. Of course certain characters will interact.
uh what? you mean in the same universe? there are a million different galaxies. I don't think SW and MCU are in the same one.

@Judge Dredd It appears that may not be the case anymore.. finally.. fingers crossed..
I agree.
Though if they also went and explored other time periods like the Old Republic, that can be a type of show that stands on its own.
I think "The Jedi" is a masterpiece.
Definitely.
I would love to see Mando’s life After This. Like what does his life hold for him now? Where does he go back? He’s been so obsessed with delivering Grogu that his life’s been taken over by this. So what does it look like after He finishes his task?
The best thing Chris commented on was the "fan service" debate... I agree totally, once you care about the current characters the well deserved fan service is just icing on the cake.
Agreed. I hated it when ROS just slapped in the voices of past actors. Unearned and cheap by comparison
James Atkinson this for sure...like when Lando popped it, it was only added for fan service, nothing else
The last episode was a masterpiece and made me feel like a little kid, again.
Edit: I am a 47 year old woman and this is just my opinion. I also feel very favourably towards this series because it made me bond more with my two sons. They love Star Wars and I never really liked anything about it until the Mandalorian. Thank you Pedro Pascal and Grogu.

What fate of his students? I don't know what story you're talking about....the mandalorian is the only thing that happened after return of the jedi.......the ONLY thing
Yeah first thing I thought when Luke wanted to take him was “Oh he’s dead”
we don't know what happens, the six canonical movies by george lucas never showed us anything after "return of the jedi", and we all know there are no other movies or sequels.
Plus there’s still a lot of time (irl and in the universe) for things to happen that change that fate
Doesn’t count, it’s not canon.
40 minutes of this show’s finale eclipse 3 full budgeted films smh.....

The dark trooper smashing his head in was terrifying. Hes got almost zero padding under that thing and all that concussive damage is being absorbed by his head. Thats a concussion dude.
Its pressurized under the helm, the times he takes it off you can hear it hiss as the air escapes
The whole point of the beskar armor is that it makes Mando basically invulnerable to physical damage. He was right back on his feet after getting his head smashed.
That beskar is no joke though.... For a second, I genuinely thought the dark trooper may dent the helmet a little but no it held up its own against brutal punches by a fucking droid

Can we appreciate the fact that Chris watched the deep-fake George Lucas video
That Mark Reilly reference put a smile on my face
He probably knows the people that made the video, I know he has done stuff with collider before. But ye dope that he watched it
I laughed harder than Chris when he did that. Those deep fakes were epic.
“Then he walks up to them and he takes off his hood, and he was Luke from Masters if Teras Kasi.”
That joke had me clutching my side trying to keep my ribs from cracking because I was laughing so hard.
Chris keeps talking about "simple plots" and "Filler", but the reason why (I think) that he is liking this show as among others isn't for the simplicity of that, but because of the world building it brings. As fans, we care about the Skywalker saga and the Jedi, but more than anything we care about the Universe of these worlds. We fantasize about exploring it, living it, and making up our own stories in the cannon, and I feel like more than anything the people working on this show get _that_ and that is why this series is well received.
The S2 finale was the first time a Star Wars thing made me cry. Revenge of the Sith came close, but this was full waterworks.
Finale of Clone wars season 5 and season 7 made me cry.... but The season 2 finale for Mandalorian made me the most emotional seeing Luke arrive and risking his life too save the child, it was amazing to see Luke in his prime and I’m looking forward to what season 3 of mandalorian will bring now that Grogu is no longer part of it.
This CGI wasnt perfect but was EASY to deal with. The emotions I was feeling overrode that.
Nostalgic and redeeming impact the last scene of season finale had on me completely overdshadows the cgi aspect of it. It totally brought back my childhood memories and hopes I had, to see Luke in his prime again. I wish I could unseen ep viii and ix, how they butchered one of the most iconic characters of this universe and see that instead. If that's called "fan service", I don't care, just give me more.
This randomly popped into my recommendations, and glad I found your channel! It was interesting hearing people talk about the fanservice in this series as a potential negative, and wanted to throw in my two cents as someone who didn't know anything about star wars before the Mandalorian. It was my first ever Star Wars media. And the thing is, from the perspective of someone who didn't know all this, all those characters still worked and served their narrative purpose without needing preexisting knowledge of them! I loved Boba Fett, I loved Ahsoka, I had no idea they weren't entirely new to just Mandalorian. They were still set up and introduced effectively as standalones

Here’s my 2 cents: with Mandalorian, they didn’t just bring in characters like Ahsoka and Bo-Katan in for just Fan service, the fact of a developing conflict between Mando and Bo for rule of Mandalore because Mando won the dark saber is something they could legitimately explore in Season 3. Boba is having his show, Ahsoka is having her own show, so they just needed to bring her back for the spin-off show, because Mandalorian, Rangers of the New Republic, Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, all these shows will have a climactic event together according to Lucasfilm when they revealed these shows. I’m just so pumped for this man, bring Star Wars back!

I expect Luke and Din cross paths again, because Din has a real connection with one of Luke's students. However, I really doubt the Mandalorian would be the primary vehicle to show Luke training Jedi. They may well do that in another show. They have 20 or whatever in the works. And if you don't want to watch Luke train Jedi, then don't watch it. Personally, I've been waiting 40 years to see that shit, so I'll probably watch it and hope they do it justice.
I just think its shitty that it all leads to Force Awakens / The Last Jedi... ugh
Unpopular opinion, but Din showing Grogu his face > Luke vs. the dark troopers. That was one of the best scenes in the entire show.
Totally agree
That's what made the last episode so great. Luke's arrival was awesome, then they top even that with mando taking his helmet off, the whole episode just kept getting better and better
Yeah for me it went screaming from excitement -> sobbing
That's what is so great about this show, imo, that it managed often to give something special to all SW fans...I don't mean to assume anything but this opinion seems to be mostly shared by newer and more casual fans, who naturally focused more on the relationship between Din and Grogu. The longtime and more hardcore fans saw in Luke's arrival and overall presence something they had hoped to see for a long time, hence that was the highlight of the episode for them. Both are incredible and absolutely earned (not fan service) and that makes them even better
100% agree. The Dark Troopers never really felt like a threat to me and with the way people are comparing them, Lukes hallway scene is nowhere near Vaders for me
Carl Weathers surprised the hell out of me with the episode he directed. Honestly probably my first or second favorite of the season. Really hope he gets another opportunity to direct next season.
Mushu Drag Bryce Dallas Howard was the biggest surprise and she did the most visually stunning and technically complex episode of the 1st season and the second or third most visually stunning episode and most technically complex episode of the second season.
I didn't think he did very well on the action scenes but it could have been more the editing than Weathers' direction. I need to rewatch.

Mandalorian feels exactly like Star Wars Skyrim or any other open world game. Side characters give random quests to receive cool armor, random enemy base sieges happen to help allies, enemies show up out of nowhere and need slaying. Never once does it feel inconsequential because it is just so much fun.
