    Thank you for a great video. My precious father passed away last year, and I now have the lo han guo that friends had brought him from Hong Kong before his death (he used it often). I knew how to fix it because I had made it for him, but I didn’t know about adding chan pei for coughs-timely information for me as I have a cough at the moment (and I have chan pei that I made in my pantry). Thank you again.

    Would love to know more versions! My sister in law deals with a lingering dry heaving cough at night, (cleared by all doctors so far.) She loves warm teas so I would love to make up some combinations for her. She is also quite anxious.
    I’ve read that lily bulb and lotus seeds might be good for her needs too but feel uncertain on how to prepare them together with monk fruit and/or chrysanthemum flowers so that they are pleasant to drink/eat.
    I’d be happy to pay for a consultation with you, if that is something you are open to?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I’m sorry to hear about your sister-in-law's condition, but it's great that her cough has been cleared by doctors. It’s really kind and thoughtful of you to consider making herbal teas for her. I appreciate your interest in a private consultation. Currently, I only offer one-on-one consultations to Australian residents, but I’d be delighted to welcome you to my membership where I can offer more tailored support. You can learn more about the membership here chineseherbalpantry.com/tcm-wellness-membership/
      While it's not the same as a private consultation, we can certainly start with creating some simple herbal teas to see if they offer her any relief, especially since her cough has been medically cleared. This way, you'll also gain valuable learning experience along the way. If the herbal teas don't seem to help, I would then recommend seeing a local TCM doctor for a more specific herbal decoction.
      I'm looking forward to meeting you inside my membership if you feel that it is a right fit for you.

    Can you use the powdered monk fruit sold as a natural sweetener in the recipe instead of the actual dried monk fruit?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  Před rokem +1

      Hi @Melissa, great question! Frankly, I don't know the answer. I'm unsure whether the active ingredients that relieve cough, sore throat, hoarseness, and constipation would be lost during the extraction process of monk fruit to create a sweetener. Traditionally, we cook with dried fruit for the above functions.

    I had recently purchased some dried xing ren(apricot seeds) and the seller sent a pack of monk fruit flower with it and said I can make tea with it. I don't think it's the same as what you're using. Do you know if it has similar benefits?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  Před 7 měsíci

      @dragonext2001, no, monk fruit flower is not the same as monk fruit. Would you mind where do you live? Are you in Asia? I find that there are a lot of more varieties , choices or 'new' herbs in Asia than in the West. I haven't heard of it or seen in Australia or the UK. I am going back to Malaysia soon, so I will look out for it. I did a quick search, it seems that monk fruit flower has similar benefits to monk fruit. Having said that, I haven't had time to dive deeper to really look into its historical uses (as in if this is a new 'trend' but less of historical records) , clinical uses etc in both English and Chinese resources. Usualy I do this for members in my membership. Having said that, if you plan to use it more for make tea with, and more for pleasure (I assume it is quite tasty and sweet), then go for it!

    Can I add dry Logan?

    • @ChineseHerbalPantry
      @ChineseHerbalPantry  Před měsícem

      Hi @christinechow, yeah you can add dry logan. A couple of notes about adding logan, it is slightly warming, but it should be ok as it may compliment the 'coldness' of monk fruit. It can calm our 'Shen' so it can be helpful for anxiety or stress. However, it is quite sweet, so not suitable for people with diabetes. Before we adding ingredient, it is best to understand the property of the herb, why do you wan to add it, and is there any precautions. Hope this helps! This is what my membership teaches.
