Bulq's "kark it, I'll just kill everyone" may have been because of Mira's death. Prior to that he was able to pass himself off as the typical serene Master and he did seem truly upset by her death so it may have catalyzed his fall to the dark side. I'd expect he was utterly furious with Ventress next time he saw her.
Did you know that Xanatos once fought Qui-Gon with two blades in The Dark Rival: his added with Obi-Wan's? Qui-Gon even saw Xanatos practice Jar'Kai in the temple. So that would play a factor in his duel with Sora Bulq. Seriously.
@Carl Coriell umm what? We're not talking about skillset, we're talking about past experiences and events. Qui Gon's knowledge of Xanatos's use of Jar Kai would go a long way towards alleviating Sora Bulq's dual blades.
Another fact you should check in "The Wrath of Darth Maul" is that Maul recognized Qui-Gon's weariness on Tatooine and used it to his advantage on Naboo. It seems that Qui-Gon is always losing in the Versus Series.
Is it stated in the novel that Jinn put away his lightsaber before force pushing the droids specifically *to concentrate*? Because when watching the scene, it always looked to me as if he was simply certain, that his lightsaber wasn't needed anymore, because he knew the force push would disable the droids. In fact, to me this speaks more of a confidence in his abilities, both in the force and in reading the fight.
Why does the best Jedi, Qui-Gon, lose...I mean, he's not the most powerful, but it seems like he isn't as strong as every other Jedi or Sith. I mean, Dooku is like 20 years older, but still keeps up. Why is it that Qui-Gon gets left behind?
I'm still eager to see a versus vid with Palpatine as one of the combatants, just because he's got to have one of the most impressive bios in the whole series.
plus malgus had a clarity and focus which enabled him to remain composed even when filled with anger (the moment he was "going to slaughter his own men if the jedi all fell; such was his rage"), he did not let emotion overwhelm him; he was able even to draw zallow in a tactical trap. that's a hell of composure and tactical ingenuity. whereas what we see of marek is immense potential, power and range (true), but a lack of control, or focus.
"Revan was power. It was like staring into the heart of the Force." I wouldn't say he's not a juggernaut of godlike power, especially since he has experience using powers from both sides of the Force.
I wonder, because of his strong connection to the Living Force, what Qui Gon could do if pushed to the absolute edge. If he can transcend the material plain as a Force Spirit then I would not put something like lightning past his potential abilities but again IF pushed to the absolute edge.
Revan vs. Palpatine would be a fascinating fight to break down. Revan fought Vitiate, the most Palpatine-like being in his era, and Palpatine fought Luke, the most Revan-like being in his era. While we're at it, why not also examine Luke vs. Vitiate? These people lived some 3,900 years apart; it takes considerable analysis to draw any meaningful conclusions.
At first... Awesome job, man. I'm really shocked, I see You're a great and big Star Wars fan, also it is a very proffesional work. I can't believe it is soooo good. :) I revere you... I respect You very much after seeing this video, such a perfectly done and your arguments are very importnant, indeed. Great video... Thank you, man, especially for the cool quotes included in this video! :) It is a very good idea to add them to a VS battle video... Also , these quotes brings back many memories from books , films and comics. :) I really aprecitate that, friend To the fight. I think that many of you forgot one thing... We should all pay attention to WHAT time of Sora Bulq's training we're according to... Well, as the video say, he became much more powerful later, he mastered Vapaad and used the Dark Side styles, combined everything... Well, I must say, IMO he was very very powerful When Qui-Gon Jinn was just a strong warrior. He was very hight in the order, but he wasn't really like 'the most powerful'. He'd take Darth Maul easly, if he were, I think! Hehe. Anyway, so I saw someone who said that Dooku defeated Sora easly, yes, he did, but Sora wasn't so powerful back then. He was Jedi and had no later knowledge of the force... And as INCREDIBLY powerful Sith (yes, he WAS) he became an equal to Quinlan Vos... IMO, Quinlan was a very powerful saber and force user... Far more powerful and better than Qui-Gon Jinn, actually. So, now you can see my point - if Sora could easly fight Quinlan as an equal, well, Qui-Gon wuld be in a big trouble, like more fuked than with duel with Darth Maul... My verdict is very clear. I agree with the creator of this video - Qui-Gon, even though he was a venerable warrior, strong and powerful Jedi (also great saberist), he couldn't take such an opponent like mastered Sora Bulq. It would be a nice, maybe even an equal fight, if Sora was still a Jedi, like when he fought Count Dooku first time with Tholme... Back then he had no special skills, just a basic knowledge and a single saber... Lol, he was worse than Qui-Gon, but still not bad. But for Sora Bulq mastered Sith version hands down, Sora FTW... Thanks.
Awesome video just like the others! I really like your versus series! Can you make a versus video between General Grievous and General Krell? They are one of my favorite Star Wars characters!
I know. I think for suspension-of-disbelief purposes, we're supposed to believe that Yoda thought he could aid his fellow Jedi better if he retreated, and technically he did eventually... with Luke.
"Ultimately, Qui-Gon Jinn's death due to Ataru's lack of defensive capabilities prompted Kenobi to abandon Form IV as his dominant style, but still mastered it nonetheless." "In addition to Soresu, Kenobi would also master and incorporate elements of Shii-Cho and Niman into his fighting style..." - Wookieepedia, and both quotes are sourced. Obi-Wan didn't stop using Ataru; he simply stopped mainly using it. And it's fair to say Ob-Wan is at least familiar with Vaapad, though he doesn't know it.
(Continued) "And even if Quinlan Vos couldn't find a weakness in Kenobi's style he would be able to use his more advance Force powers to over power him." What would he do, use force lightning? Need I remind you that Obi-Wan, in Ep. 2 deflected Count Dooku's force lightning, which was far more powerful than any force lightning Vos could ever do. No. Obi-Wan would win. I will concede however that it would not be an easy win.
Oh, I know what you're referencing: "Indeed it was said that he was the only Jedi apart from his own Master, Dooku and Grand Master Yoda, who was able to fight Windu as an equal." This isn't sourced however, and what they probably meant, but didn't emphasize enough when saying he was ABLE to fight as Windu's equal, was that he was able to hold his own against Windu. And this would be most likely during sparring matches, so no one would be going all out. Still, Qui-Gon is a capable duelist.
And because you were the one who brought it up (albeit earlier), thinking it mattered how many lightsaber styles Vos and Kenobi knew, I should point out that while Vos only mastered Ataru, Obi-Wan mastered Ataru, Soresu, Shii-Cho, and Niman. Also, Obi-Wan was considered one of the best lightsaber duelists in the order; Vos was not.
I like to think that, because Sidious is so conniving, he staged his defeat at the hands of Mace Windu. What backs up my theory is the fact that he was acting weak in front of Anakin, then he unleashed his "UNLIMITED POWER!" after Anakin attacked Windu. Also, he could have very well sensed Anakin's arrival, thus giving him the idea to stage his defeat, giving him a perfect opportunity to lure Anakin into the dark side through playing the victim card.
Hmm...I see much wisdom in you...you are by far on the highest levels of Star Wars Fan/Nerdom...thank you for sharing your insights and thoughts. These are great videos. I applaud your dedication, and I look forward to future projects. :) Oh...if you have the time...where does Qui-Gon stand in your books? I mean...as a Jedi and a character, rather than good fights or anything else...
Qui-Gon Jinn vs A Battle Droid. Maybe he'll win there! Maybe. Kidding aside. Jinn is a good character but not a good combatant. I'd like to see you use Aylla Secura in a VS at some point. Since she was fleshed out in the Clone Wars comics pretty well.
On the contrary, Satele and Luke would be an interesting fight; both were the most powerful Jedi of their respective eras. Both fought against some of the most dangerous opponents of their respective eras. Direct comparison is difficult, which is why we suggest these to Jensaarai in the first place.
Is there any chance you could do a versus video including Darth Traya? I have a friend that keeps talking about her but I myself know next to nothing. Would be fun to see how she compares to other force users.
i think malgus knows the disadvantage this mask represents. he's a keen strategic mind, and if suspecting he would have a problem by someone's lightning, he would remove it, even to spare himself from the few moments between his being struck, and recovering more angry than ever. if i am not mistaken he has shown little problem fighting without it. (but seriously.. the guy was able to fight after a grenade exploded in his face, and a rocky hill side came down on his head... as you say: resilient)
Great video. I'd like to see one featuring Starkiller (protagonist from Force Unleashed II) vs someone. Maybe Anakin (pre-Vader Suit) or Darth Malgus or even Revan.
Can you do Obi-wan vs Darth Malgus. I think that one would be quite noteworthy with Malgus taking advantage of weak points and sheer relenteless but controlled offensive style going against Obi-wans impeccable defense.
I wonder if Sora Bulq was inspired by Miyamoto Musashi. Both favoured the use of long and short blades in combat; and both are regarded as great warriors.
Banethesithari - I also would like to see more warriors, but on the other hand, using this characters suggests that Jensaarai knows most about them and wants to show us most proffesional analysis. Plus, from his videos I learned much myself and I try to think about some duels myself - you can also try. And if it comes to new characters, I'd suggest some New Republic jedi - Corran Horn (in my opinion best swordsman,as he was unable to use telekinesis), Kam Solusar and maybe Kyp Durron.
ThePerrperr Probably won’t go well for Bulq. He’d hammer against Kenobi’s defense, make an opening, then fall to the ground in chunks. And the Force doesn’t help, as Kenobi can match Bulq’s power and far surpassing Bulq’s precision.
I would say that Bulq should be called a user of Juyo not Vapaad. That mental focus defense and fluidity Windu added to it are part of what set apart Vapaad from its mother art Juyo.which is what Bulq's technique sounds like after he fell.
Bout time Bulq won a match :P Has Mace Windu vs Darth Malgus already occured? That would be a heck of a pairing. the Raw and brutal Strength of the False Emperor coupled with decades of combat expreince, Fairly advanced Force Abilities and Cyborg enchancements vs the Natural Dueling Skill of the Vaapad Master, his own expreince and Force Abilities.
The only one I might argue there is Anakin vs Mace. Mace was supposedly Dooku's equal on neutral ground, and Anakin defeated him pretty handily. Offensively, Anakin and Mace are both very good, but Anakin's Djem So has much better defense, whereas Vapaad has no defense, but is a bit better as far as offense goes. Anakin wouldn't be able to use his Force powers against Mace due to Vapaad's loop ability, but Mace's Force abilities would be ineffective against Anakin's superior power. So I dunno.
I would say Asajj Ventress. Based on what we have seen she has superior force powers, even breaking the force shields of Anakin and Obi-Wan. She also has a superior form, Makashi. Starkiller also carries a standard lightsaber, but Ventress carries two cured sabers, that when connected, have different positions to create difference angles and attack ranges with each saber.
actually you phrased it perfectly. it is the same with yoda; one can use his connection to the force, to overcome any kind of short-comings (age, slight respiratory problems), even solely rely on the force for limited periods of time. but i also think that malgus's problem, and mask was not like plagueis'. malgus' problem was (i think) more mild. for plagueis, YES, the mask was a huge disadvantage (as proven).
Yeah, and what Jedi Exile told me made me consider Obi-Wan vs. Quinlan Vos to be a lot closer of a match than I originally thought. I would say Obi-Wan has the advantage when it comes to lightsaber skill, but Quinlan would have the edge when it came to his variety of force powers. I'd definitely like to see Jensaarai do Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Quinlan Vos, but I don't think he's done a video in a while now. He may have stopped posting videos. :/
One thing I'll say, regardless of whichever Sith Lord one holds in higher esteem... They seem to forget to use their best powers whenever it'd really count. It's said that Palpatine could instantly kill scores of enemies with his Force Lightning, and yet he never does. You mention that he could destroy entire fleets with Force Storms, but I don't think I've ever seen him do it. (Cont.)
(Cont.) Personally, a man with the power to destroy an entire fleet or planet with his mind is more frightening to me than a giant space station. And Vitiate(As much as I like him more than Palpatine, your comment did raise a valid point) had the power to strip powerful force-users of their power and sanity, and yet he doesn't use it on Revan or the Jedi Knight that confronts him... (Cont.)
We all love Qui gon Jensaari1, we just wanna see a few ones you havent done like starkiller, palpatine, vitate, etc. now those are interesting characters like star killer vs mace windu.
Jensaarai1 can u make a Darth Vader vs Mace Windu video i think it would be a good match beacause Vader is a tank and Windu is an attacking beast with Vaapad
i think that toughness comes into play when a classical ataru practitioner like jinn, starts the kicks, slams & punches. ataru practitioners use the whole body as a weapon, so in that case high pain threshold and physical toughness might give bulq a slight advantage, when, and if, qui-gon drew the contest to a more physical level. a less intuitive/more cerebral guy would think twice before punching a weequai or a zabrak with his bare hands, but... well... it's qui-gon! that's why we love him! :)
Btw if u do a lot of research, it is known that boba fett actually used a green saber as his first idea of attacking mac windu, so you could do boba fett and Assaj vetress, because he is known to be VERY skilled.
Lord Hoth, leading General and Jedi Lord during the New Sith Wars versus Jedi General of the Clone Wars and Purge Survivor Rahm Kota. Both are generals, have high level battlefield experience and are martial artists
Right. But I think Bulq was mentioned more than Vos, probably because he was the co-creater of Vaapad after all. Obviously the page talked about Mace Windu more than anyone else.
Obi-Wan knew and was familiar with every style. He was also no slouch when it came to unpredictability. He defeated both Darth Maul and Savage Opress simultaneously. Obi-Wan did primarily use Soresu, however he incorporated numerous other styles when the need would arise, including Ataru, Shii-Cho and Niman, which he all mastered. And true, Vos had a bigger variety of force powers, but it's incorrect to infer that he's more powerful in the force, if that's what you intended.
i do like the versus series you do but could you not use the same characters so often especially whe theres so many charcters you havent used at all such as reven, kyle katarn , naga sadow theres so many
Indeed. I'd also like to see more of Darth Bane, Darth Zannah, Revan, Luke Skywalker, Darth Sidious, Savage Opress (even if he doesn't like the Darth Maul/Savage Opress Clone Wars episodes), etc.
Bulq's "kark it, I'll just kill everyone" may have been because of Mira's death. I agree, his actions resembled that of someone who had already decided the fight was over.

Because Qui Gon is an exceptional telepath, not an exceptional duelist.
I'm still eager to see a versus vid with Palpatine as one of the combatants, just because he's got to have one of the most impressive bios in the whole series.
id like to read a story where gins ghost appears to vader through out the book causing him to question himself

Nah, he couldn't conjure force lightning without falling to the dark side, unless he existed in the njo, then maybe there would be small chance.
Your videos make my day.

Maul

excellent =)
Which comic did you use for the qui gon duelling the two students
I wonder if Sora Bulq was inspired by Miyamoto Musashi. Both favoured the use of long and short blades in combat; and both are regarded as great warriors.
What tune was playing while Qui Gon's Martial Arts Training was being discussed?
Also, how do you do a voice over? I feel so noobish asking about asking, but I'd liked to make one :/

I reckon you should do qui gon & obi wan vs Darth maul
Great job! I really enjoyed this!
Kyle Katarn vs. Darth Vader.
Jensaari mentioned recently that he's working on this one. I'm eager to see the Katarn breakdown!
I hope it’s with his green lightsaber.
Vader wins. He's good enough to rival Kyle in pure duelling and stronger in the force.
How about Mace Windu vs. Darth Vader? Also, who was the original Jedi Jinn was gonna face?
Who would win in a battle between Asajj Ventress and Galen Marek (aka Starkiller)?
Sora Bulq is just an animal honestly. Even among the Sith, who talk about guarding against such things.
You should do one Darth Vader vs Darth Malgus. Or do darth maul vs darth malgus
Btw if u do a lot of research, it is known that boba fett actually used a green saber as his first idea of attacking mac windu, so you could do boba fett and Assaj vetress, because he is known to be VERY skilled.
hey bro i reckon this would be a good fight.. Ki-Adi-Mundi vs Mace Windu or Obi-wan
You should do a video on Quinlen Voz
You should do a Mace Windu vs Darth Vader or Darth Sidious
Lord Hoth, leading General and Jedi Lord during the New Sith Wars versus Jedi General of the Clone Wars and Purge Survivor Rahm Kota. Both are generals, have high level battlefield experience and are martial artists
I was thinking Kotor music, but I have no idea how to upload onto my slideshow.
Can you pleased a versus video with darth maul in it.
thats why i keep calm....the other guy freaks out and you can pretty much laugh at him ^^
Right. But I think Bulq was mentioned more than Vos, probably because he was the co-creater of Vaapad after all. Obviously the page talked about Mace Windu more than anyone else.
What if Qui Gon got hold of either Bulq lightsaber? Is he then toast?
I would like to see a versus video about jensaarai, he looks capable enough to kill a Jedi knight.
Revan vs Starkiller as of The force unleashed 2. I realise clone but who cares :P. Please if you have time could you do this!
You should do something on Mace Windu. He seems like the most powerful Jedi since he defeated darth sidious pretty easily
And true, Vos had a bigger variety of force powers, but it's incorrect to infer that he's more powerful in the force, if that's what you intended.
i do like the versus series you do but could you not use the same characters so often especially whe theres so many charcters you havent used at all such as reven, kyle katarn , naga sadow theres so many
if i get a vote that would be something idd like to see as well
Indeed. I'd also like to see more of Darth Bane, Darth Zannah, Revan, Luke Skywalker, Darth Sidious, Savage Opress (even if he doesn't like the Darth Maul/Savage Opress Clone Wars episodes), etc.
